I still wish it was at 5 stacks to show it ready to fire, but not having it at 0 stacks is so much better than always. Now we just need an addon that adds a keybind to quickly remove and re-add the skill to clear the stacks outside combat.

Even better news, of a sort. On the PTS I traveled out of a public dungeon to a wayshrine in a different zone and it reset my grim focus to zero so the glow went away. I hit a few mobs to get it back and then traveled from one wayshrine to another in the same zone and it did not reset, but then I traveled to a wayshrine in a different zone and it did reset, so there are a few different ways to make it reset to get the glow to go away when not in combat other than having to lift it off the bar for a second like we do on sorcs to dismiss pets if we don't use the addon for that.

UPDATE: I also exited a public dungeon by just walking out the door and grim focus reset to zero, yeay!!!

I'm rather disappointed in how this was changed, but everything could be much worse :/ It's good to know that it's still possible to have this beautiful glow forever in the same zone! :) Roleplaying will be difficult in some houses without target dummies and in some non-combat instances though :(

I'm one of people who love this permanent glow, and love the additional "hot metal" effect at 5 stacks.
There really needs to be a way to add such glow effect as optional style (and not just for Nightblade, for all classes too), and have selection of different colors for it, please! And other players need to see it too. Even now there are times when I can see this glow from other players (and no, it's not Ragebound weapon style) - this looks great! I can't find screenshots at the moment, maybe tomorrow.

As bonus, this is how Ragebound weapon looks with Grim Focus glow:

And this is without Grim Focus glow:

My Nightblade crew is really enjoying the best cosmetic option in the game, grateful that this option is not removed!

Being a Sith in search of apprentice:

    -snip-

It's cool that people got something good out of it. But it really ruined the look for a lot of other people. Especially mattered if you used Gloambound weapons which we paid real money to get.

Still not the best way they could've done it, but at least we won't be hazard light from just standing around doing nothing.

I've got a while to wait, being on PS5, but my nightblade will be so happy. She isn't happy about much else coming in the next update, but this particular change is a very welcome one. I thought it would never happen!

FINALLY!! I came here to post that the effect is "clipping" with my current weapon set (whispers of sithis, the black effect of the weapon flashes in and out clipping with the red glow) and I see this YAYYYYY

I've visited PTS myself now... Even if I need to do some extra work to glow again, this change is awesome! <3 Everyone can see the red glow now  Those people who incorporate this glow into their character's image can be sure that their character looks the same for other people too. And now I don't need to search for screenshots of fellow glowing Nigtblade players on live:

    KBqyG5e.jpeg

This effect became essential for my Nightblades on live, so on PTS after creating a new test character I immediately went to attack nearby mob and activate the effect. Then I was just idling and previewing skills, gear and cosmetics. I'm grateful for this change! New Durzog mount looks epic, especially with additional light:

Hello, I do have a couple of question. I really like the permanent glow and I do want it on my Templar and I will be adding the skill line via subclassing. I am glad you finally got your on/off switch. I have never played as a night blade and I do not want to start a new character. Now that you need a stack to get the glow, how hard is it to get that stack? What do I have to do to get the stack? Does the glow work/work-well with Gloambound weapons? Thank you in advance!

Stacks come from light attacks, so if you light attack a mob once you get a stack, they last forever if you don't port to another instance, just don't use the skill and they should remain, except in PvP where it resets out of combat.

And no, it doesn't work well with any weapon pack that hides you weapons, you'll have that glow floating around when you sheath.
@MorvanClaude on PC/NA, don't try to trap me with lore subjects, it will work
  • CahirMawrDyffryn
Wow, this is fantastic news! I am really happy and excited about subclassing as is, and this just makes it even better.

I was a bit worried about the red glow looking extra awkward with other classes' ability colors so this is great and important timing too.

Big thank you to the developers!

    After two years. Finally.

@ZOS_Kevin I don't expect to ever hear why this came to be, took this long and who blocked it forever, whyever, but please, take into consideration the absolutely unnecessary anger and people outright banned over the frustration expressed over it that could have been avoided.

And when someone else at ZOS tries to die on a hill as pointless as this, please remind them of it.

    Thank you.

This x 2. Thank you for finally fixing the permaglow, and especially the part about where now other players can see your character glowing so they will know what buff you have.

I hated the glow on my character, and selfishly, I also hated that I was the only one who could see it, and that everybody around me was getting to see my character the way I wanted to see it myself.
