ZOS, Massive Spike in Ping/LAG in Recent Days - What Gives?

I logged back in today to do something other than collect the daily reward and noticed the lag is no better and seems to be slightly worse than the last PvE event I participated in. It surprised me somewhat as even with the event going on Mournhold was rather empty and I had to wait the normal time in the dungeon queue. As a result I decided to do the minimum to get my event tickets and logged off.

This game runs more poorly than usual. Several times each time I am ingame, I see 999+, have lag/rubber banding, and crashes/freezes.
Is it because of the newly added scribing?
    Is it the AI monitoring?
Was there no backend adjustment to account for the newly added requests?
    What's going on?

The rubber banding almost feels like clients are having a near full packet loss... or packets are somehow being received out of order. '

It's like stepping on a hose. Water is running just fine but step on it for 5 seconds and everything stops (in game). Take your foot off the hose and then everything comes rushing out (all skills/siege fire hyper speed until flow returns to normal).

Playing this game right now feels like I put a hose across the interstate and cars are constantly running over it.

    Perfect analogy

I still think it would be helpful to ZOS if the players impacted by these problems would indicate where they are playing from in the real world and whether they are routed to the game servers through Akamai. It's up to them whether they want to look for a workaround through their ISP in terms of rerouting while they wait for ZOS to find a resolution but it's doubtless difficult for their teams to reproduce and analyse the problem when they're all in one location and not experiencing the issue at their end.

@ZOS_Kevin would this information be of assistance and/or is there any other information your teams need in order to identify any common denominators and possible causes?

the problem is..... players DID this.... informally in forums, then in tickets per ZOS request. and I'll say it again... there are **STILL** videos , recording the problems per zos request, that are unviewed from *MONTHS* ago. many people that have had issues have just gone silent/stopped playing all together, because of the significant inaction. Why would people continue to waste time reporting what details are already reported when nothing is happening with it?

    This.

If I'm being honest... I don't think I have seen a video game like this before where their fans are literally begging for an update. @ZOS_Kevin

This all started around the time PTS was leaked into live/scribing - maybe even partially due to azureblight spam in PvE and PvP?

but forreal yea its just sad at this point. I could see a month of this going on, thats within the realm of reason imo. but 4 months? nah, I cancelled my sub on month 2 of this, expecting things would eventually improve, but 4 months and its worse? just LOL....

I don't want to jinx it, but the game has returned to being stable for me with a 70ms ping that occasionally spikes to only 90ms. I hope it gets fixed for the others still having issues.

No. According to long-time players and forum discussions, problems in PvP have always existed, and issues in PvE appeared at least 2 years ago. It was still possible to play despite them. But in the spring, these problems worsened once again. Now things are so bad that sometimes there's no point in playing at all.

There are always players who have no issues. In this thread, there were people who said everything was fine for them, and then the problems suddenly started a month ago or two months ago. Some have been dealing with it for 4 months, or even a year. Check if your packets are going through Akamai.

Trying to drill down here. Did you do anything that might have resolved the issues? Remove all add ons? Any windows settings change? Any eso settings change? Or did it just "fix" itself one day?

(Please tell me you did something that fixed it so I can try lol. I'm desperate hereeeeeeeeeee)

Is the PTS update in response to this.
Why is combat bug still a thing ( Kinda joking on this one but.....)

All we are asking for is the communication part, ie " We are aware and here is what we have found but still don't know why the lag has spiked for users in many areas of Tamriel" or "No the PTS has nothing to do with combating the issues" or " We are going to auto remove you from combat after the sorc streaks more than 20 meters away or the NB stays cloaked for over 5 seconds" ( Still kinda joking )

Anyways looking forward to a response.

I use a third party internet security.

Also, wired or wireless was the same problem and power cycling did nothing.

The issue wasn't with my computer because both of my computers had the exact same problem and now the game works fine on both. Sometimes I would go to a zone and be fine but the moment I went to another zone I would have the high ping times. It was completely random. Last weekend was the worst for me.

I hope it magically fixes itself for you as well if you can't find a solution. I know how frustrating it is.

Azure OpenAI includes a content filtering system that works alongside the core models. This system works by running both the prompt and completion through an ensemble of classification models aimed at detecting and preventing the output of harmful content.

The content filtering system detects and takes action on specific categories of potentially harmful content in both input prompts and output completions.

The addition of content filtering comes with an increase in safety, but also latency. There are many applications where this tradeoff in performance is necessary, however there are certain lower risk use cases where disabling the content filters to improve performance might be worth exploring.

Here is an idea since $ is what gets companies to take action.

IMO it would be a good idea for someone in ZOS to get people together and spin up a Power Bi report (or some other visualization tool) that takes the average users latency, disconnect analytics, and overall server uptime/ping and overlay that with the trend of people who have ended their ESO Plus subscription. Another interesting nugget would be to add in the average length of time they were subscribed prior to ending it (5+ years for me).

I'd put money on it that there is a direct link to increased latency, dc's, etc.. with people ending their subs. @ZOS_Kevin

Gotta love playing this game for over 8 years and all you can do is pray you don't get disconnected in your house while decorating.... fantastic server quality ... not gonna lie, I'd rather not get a new content update instead of maybe a quarter where they actually fix the game .... since the release of Scribing the game has just been laggy and buggy ... why release something that obviously doesn't work properly and keep releasing new content before addressing this issue .... A game that is 10 years old and still has the same bugs ... Stuck in combat and much more ... seriously developers ... instead of adding new content, how about slowing down and taking care of the issues that have been addressed for years and still haven't been fixed .... I have more disconnects and lag spikes than anything else lately ...

It's essentially like writing a report against yourself. Who needs that?

Every company should know what aspects of their company are bringing in money. On the flip side - they should be WELL aware of what is costing them money. Being ignorant to it is how a company crumbles.

Leadership at ZOS needs to read this book.

Someone in zone said this fixed their spike issue so putting it here. It didn't help me but maybe it will fix some of yalls issue. Good luck.

"Reset IP and clear DNS cache
    1. Click "Search" in Windows bar and type "cmd".
    2. Right click and select "Run as administrator" and "Yes".
    3. Type the following commands:

Type netsh winsock reset and select Enter.
Type netsh int ip reset and select Enter.
Type ipconfig /release and select Enter.
Type ipconfig /renew and select Enter.
Type ipconfig /flushdns and select Enter.

    Restart your computer. "

    THX! Problem solved!

Let me say, it really helped me to run out of major problems. After Zonechange, problems back but not as heavy as before and after a short time lagspikes gone again. Dungeons are still unplayable same *** like all last weeks!
