All progression will be based on champion points after level 50.

Well no offense to anyone or Zenimax but that seems really stupid. So really any kind of real progression of a character is gonna be removed. Or, maybe you will have a little thing where VR is displayed at present that gives your CR. You are level 50 now, you've just achieved additional "veteran ranks". Your VR will be converted to CR, so no progress is lost. And as you acknowledged, you will still be as powerful with increased attributes and gear other players don't have the CR to (fully) use. Instead of a possible cap one day of (VR) 16, the top cap possible will be (CR) 3600, but only after many level cap raises.tinythinker wrote: »Uriel_Nocturne wrote: »Pretty much.7788b14_ESO wrote: »What will VR be replaced with? That Im aware of. But other then that nothing will change. Level wise there will be no higher levels. You will just be stuck at 50 forever. No, plus Im no big fan of being demoted. All veterans will just be kicked back to 50. Im not against at one point there will just be a final level. But 50 seems like a very low number for that. Compared to, I dont know. Lord Of The Rings online for example. Where the max level was first 95, then 100, then 105. Sure at one point that game will also one day just come to a final level. But 50? Just seems like there should be more.
i really dont want vet ranks to go... we've had them for too long to add a bug free experience

As things stand now, I've got one VR16, one VR7, two VR6's. I'm at 337 CP right now, so all of my VR characters will be able to run with Rubedite/Ancestor Silk/Ruby Ash equipment the second that patch finishes downloading.
They'll all be "Max level". But then what?
What is there to strive for? Exploring the other Alliances? The Daggerfall Covenant is boring enough to put me to sleep on those insomnia nights. While I generally like the Aldmeri Dominion, they should have named it "The Explore Grahtwood Indefinitely Alliance"...
With the VR levels, I always had something to strive for. If not on my Main Sorcerer (my VR16), then by working on my Templar (my VR7). But there was always something to strive for. That next Vet Rank. That next Tier of equipment to craft.
Now... just like all of those other MMO's that instituted horizontal character improvement instead of upwardly mobile Character progressions via additional levels... I left those other MMO's because horizontal characters are damn boring.
There's nothing to strive for with that model.
And I really hope that boredom doesn't set in with ESO. I really, really like this game...
But on the flipside, for those who have been shelling out 15 bucks a month, will finally have something actually worth subscribing for. 10% increase is nice, but it's not worth $15 a month. Something else exclusive has to be added to ESO Plus and this is a definite exclusive that sets the difference between not paying a dime all month to those who do.
Having all DLCs, 10% increase and now crafters bags? It makes it a lot easier for subbing and supporting this game even further. IMO. Not everything should have shortcuts (IE single crown store purchases)

That, and you get 18,000 crowns per year to spend on other things than DLCs, when subbed as well. If you pay on a 6-month base, it is just 11 bucks/month and you get 9,000 crowns immediately to spend on stuff.

Except on consoles. We can only sub monthly.

They're instituting a stagnant, horizontal character progression system and placing too much emphasis on background passive increases (the CP constellation nodes) rather than actually giving you something to strive for with your characters.
Another change made to cater to impatient PvP players with little thought to how it will stagnate the rest of the game.
