    @ZOS_BrianWheeler I've noticed that there's some weird stuff going on with my inventory when performance of Cyrodiil drops to 800+ ping. When I open my inventory my primary and secondary weapons are flashing like I'm re-equipping them the whole time. Then there's the quickslot inventory screen, you cannot scroll properly when there's stuff going on. It's like the inventory is constantly refreshing or something. Is this normal? I can imagine this can cause quite a lag when it's happening to everyone in the zone.

    thats been going on for months atleast, really annoying if u wanna change quickslots :(

    Exactly. I don't know how ANYONE enjoys playing in that lag. You cannot even use your abilities. Absolutely crazy to me how they can market it as a PVP game when its unplayable.

    ZoS acknowledged its the engine and the code over a year ago?? and its basically unfixable. I have no idea why people are still waiting for some sort of magic lag fairy to come along. Its NOT going to happen.

    The definitive improvement would have to happen on entirely different level, i.e. the rate at wich ZOS fixes/improves things versus the rate at which it causes regressions. Unless this has happened, comes the Dark Brotherhood and FPS will have dropped bellow what it had been before they applied the fix.
    Because this is how ZOS has been so far: regression, regression, horrible regression, fix, regression, regression, some promises, regression, fix, regression, regression, more promises.
    But, of course, everyone is free to cherish the improvement while it lasts, assuming they were not relying on DX9/10 or OpenGL, in which case they can only cherish the idea of an improvement happening, out of solidarity.

    Sadly, trying to escape a badly performing, highly populated yet competive campaign means you have to spend your time in a buff campaign of whatever colour, which is hardly a better PvP experience.

    FPS has not been an issue for me since 1.6. Never went under 25 even once. I understand that other people have problems with it though so I'm happy to see that we got some improvements there! :) Keep up the good work.

    • Fix Volendrung (spawn location - weapon white on the map causing the wielder to keep it forever - usable with emperorship)
    • Remove / Change CPs System, remove current CP/noCP campaigns and introduce one 30days with lock, one with no locks
    • Fix crashes when approaching a keep under attack because of bad / wrong rendering prioritization system
    • Change emperorship to value faction score points and not alliance points - see this and this
    • Fix long loading screens (mostly caused by players joining group out of rendering range)
    • Add 2 more quickslots to the wheel or add a different wheel for sieges weaponry only
    • Fix Balista Bolts not dealing damage on walls or doors if deployed at a certain place
    • Release bigger battlegrounds with 8 to 16 players per team and only two teams
    • Fix the permanent block animation - see examples : link1 link2 link3 link4 link5
    • Gives players 10 minutes to get back into Cyrodiil after relogging / crashing
    • Add a function to ignore the Claiming system of useless rewards
    • Improve the Mailing System / Rewards of the Worthy stacking
    • Assign specific group sizes to specific campaigns (24-16-8)
    • Make forward camps impossible to place near objectives
    • Make snares only available from ground effects abilities
    • Change emperorship to last minimum 24hours
    • Fix body sliding after cc breaking too quickly
    • Remove Block Casting through Battle Spirit
    • Fix the speed drop while jumping - see video
    • Fix loading screens when keeps upgrade
    • Fix Rams going crazy (spinning around)
    • Bring back dynamic ulti regeneration
    • Fix speed bug (abilities locked)
    • Introduce dynamic population
    • Lower population cap by 20%

    That is encouraging Psilent! Has anyone else experienced a better recovery FPS wise after yesterday's patch?

    I was actually able to play on ultra graphics last night during a dethrone .

    Edit to add this was on trueflame pop locked . So what ever you are doing , please continue Sir !

    Who what ever "it" is, who must play PvP on Ultra Graphics must be slaughtered with a big rob, because in fights no one care, if you have shadows on, and so on ... .
    I play on a 28`inch monitor with 144 mHz and no, i dont need all on ULTRA and saw no changes by that all since that.
    I live nearly the EU server and wonder, why my latency is not under 50, the fps depends on how many enemies are around and are not a measurement by that!
    You can just say it feels better, not is better, because the amount of Players changes each day and are not a parameter of succsess or not! *tztz*

    No expert on game engines and coding but why would it be impossible to fix if that were the case?

    The lag is still a big issue but what worries my the most is the seeming asymetry off the lag. While opponents seem to able to land 3 or 4 abilities in an instant on me, I cannot even trigger 1. Do more players have this issue? It seems like the lag is favoring players with other lag times.

    With today's patch of Dark Brotherhood we added some new methods how the server addresses sorting of ability effects and lists on the server level. Instead of abilities having unique requirements made for specific scenarios, the server now has those types or rules embedded at the root of combat code to cut down on performance hits.

    Let's use Breath of Life as an example:

    This ability heals a nearby wounded ally and heals another nearby friendly player for less than the first.

    In that seemingly simple ability, the server has to do several things:
    1- get the entire list of players in the 28 meter radius, both friend and foe
    2- takes all players in that area and figures out who is friend and foe
    3- takes all the friendly players in that area and finds out who is not full health
    4 - takes those players that are not full health and finds the closest 2 to the player casting the spell. Also note that this step on Area effects can be sorted by several other methods of most damaged, least damaged, closest to caster, furthest from caster, most health, least health, etc. but only 1 of those at a time. <-- This is the most effected step with the changes we made in Dark Brotherhood.
    5- applies the heal at the appropriate value to the two targets

    Almost all of the steps above had to check tailor made requirements for Breath of Life to work. With Dark Brotherhood, we converted a lot of those requirement checks to rules on the server that are embedded in the combat code instead of unique requirements.

    We will be monitoring Cyrodiil on all platforms (first PC then consoles obviously when DB hits Xbox and PS) to see how this change helps performance and continuing our efforts on making Cyrodiil server response better in future patches.

    Thank you for that fast, in detail response!

    I can't wait for the server to be back up to test it out!

    This past week has been the worst in over 2 years here for me. Constant load screens as soon as I go through the inner of a keep under attack, or if I encounter a certain guild zerg, I get a load screen and also many disconnects.

    Here's hoping for the best!! :)

    @taonnor The server can only figure out friend and foe after it gets that initial list then compares the Alliance ID vs. Alliance ID of the caster to then determine friend or foe.

    The code grabs *all* players indiscriminately within 28 meters radius of the current caster, only in doing that, can step 2 work.

    Unless it searches for any one in the 28m radius with same alliance id of caster doing two steps in one

    Wheeler i am very impressed by the performance in PC TF prime time
    There was a 1-2 hr long siege at alessia and my ping never went beyond 200. Even with all alliances poplocked. AND ALL THREE FACTIONS HAD 24+ ZERGS around it.

    Idk what exactly it was you guys did, but damn this DB patch went smooth and performance is great.
    But what is really going to re-ignite the passion i once had for this game are drastic overhauls to Cyrodiil campaign, leaderboards, Emperorship, and many other improvements.

    Those are the types of overhauls im talking about. Changes to the map. Adding more objectives. Make them desirable to both PvP and PvE. Maybe increasing populations caps. Im serious about this because im am amazed at how Cyrodiil performance was tonight, next DLC make it a Cyrodiil DLC, and all my money is yours.

    Never went beyond 200+ ping. How bout that.

    Thanks for the update will have to see what effects it has.

    I'm far from an expert on things but this sounds like what CCP were trying with their brain in a box system as well. Merging more of the data needed into one thing for the call rather than needing to call on multiple things everywhere. Unless I completely misunderstood it.

    Just out of interest @ZOS_BrianWheeler are ZOS willing to talk about the hardware side of things for the servers? Again not an expert but I know in EVE Online they could set important star systems onto high end / reenforced nodes to give better stability.

    If it isn't already would it be possible to run a node for each campaign so each one is separated from the rest of the games locations?
