What a bunch of whining cry babies. This game was getting discounted even before launch I bought the Standard Edition with early access for $40, if you paid full price that was your stupidity, and please tell me your not whining about a stupid vanity pet :o why don't you people grow a pair.

This only shows how clueless you are about playing games on Steam.

Discrace, what about the people who paid at the start and have been loyal through all the bugs, downtime, FPS issues... Zenimax you have let yourself down all over again

It would be nice if they did something like give you a more awesome dog for number of days logged in, but you know they will probably give you a golden scuttler or a pink skeever or something like that.

Im not one to moan, but i gotta say when i logged into the site today and seen ESO was availible on steam at 50% Discount standard edition and 40% Discount for Imperial which i own, plus a different pet... it kinda annoyed me, it's like saying "thanks to the people who have supported us from day one and stuck with us from then till now... but our sub fee's have gone down the pan and we need more players so half price game plus new vanity pet! come get it" im not saying "give me the pet now!!" but i wouldn't say no to it thats for sure more annoyed at the price. I can see that you do wanna attract more players as it would be nice to see and have more people about to help out on quests/boss's/dolmens etc etc, but like many of your loyal fans/customers i do feel... hurt i guess that we all pre-ordered and stuck by this game hoping things will get better as it has had problems alot of problems some of them being teething problems most of them should have been fixed a long time ago, been on the fence about canceling my sub as alot of my friends have abonded eso as have alot of guildies, this is just another tick in the Cancel box for me which im sad about as i am a huge fan, but being let down time and time again on a number of matters relating to the game get fustrating.

Do you have any idea how long I've been waiting to have an actual dog Non-com pet in an MMO? Years. I upgraded to the imperial edition last week and now you put this out? PLEASE let us have the dog for people who already have the Imperial edition.

I mean FFS guys, you released a buggy-ass game and had all the early-sub's beta test your game in the REAL beta and then also "beta" test it again once it was live in production. You should really not even be charging us a monthly fee for doing your UAT and NFT for you.

Then you reward the people that come in after us with discounts and extra perks that we all should have got.

Despite all the strange and weird errors Blizzard made with World of Warcraft, they at least never screwed over their loyal customers. That's the number 1 reason why they lasted for 10 years.

When they decided to start setting up accounts through Battle.net, instead of their own site (much like Steam, here), there was a little battle robot pet you could get. They ran this huge promotion to let everyone know you got a little robot, there was a weird thing about soda or rocket fuel or something -- over the course of four months it was made mandatory. If you signed up on your own, before it was made mandatory, you'd get the pet.
They never charged an additional fee to their existing customers.

They also never made anything exclusive to new customers. They released expansions, and whoever bought the expansion could get a special vanity pet -- but that's entirely different. That opened up the availability of the pet to anyone who bought an expansion later on.

That is NOT AT ALL the same as offering the SAME game through a different vendor at a lower price with exclusive items.

You're three-ish months into the live version of the game, and people are quitting left and right.

I played through the beta. My girlfriend and her son played through the beta. We bought the Collector's Edition, then immediately upgraded to Imperial as soon as the upgrade was available. I bought the Palomino. We've been subscribers since the beginning.

I, myself, have played Elder Scrolls since Morrowind. Loved Oblivion, and loved Skyrim (and all the DLC's).

I've put far, far too much money into this franchise to be treated so childishly.

I agree with many of the options expressed before me. I don't play on Steam. I am not a fan of steam in the slightest, honestly; but that wolf hound looks exactly like my real-life dog (a trimmed bergamasco italian sheep dog).

If this pet doesn't become available to pre-order players, you're losing two subscriptions, at the least.

The way Zenimax is treating existing customers in this situation is shameful.

There is no way this game will survive, even with people like me who are willing to stick through this repeated mistreatment, simply because so many people won't tolerate it.

Zenimax is really starting to make me feel like an abuse victim, and I keep coming back for more.
Life of a Nightblade (Screenshot Tumblr)

Attention Zenimax: Stamina builds don't hold up to magicka builds, and this is causing most of your class imbalance. It makes melee weapons and bows weaker than staves and class abilities. It makes medium and heavy armor less desirable than light armor. Fix this imbalance, and you'll address most of your balance issues.

I want the dog, but I don't want to buy the game again. Would you please help me out, ZOS?

Another plush combo would take care of that, though I really don't care about plush toys. (I'm sure I'm not alone here.)

I also want an in-game pet lizard. And a parrot. And a giraffe. Do it!

I don't care about a dog or a price reduction or any of that. Just give me a Steam key. Every game I have ever purchased before it was on Steam that later became available through Steam has given me a Steam key, except ESO.

I would even pay for the key if it's really that big a cost to Zenimax.

Not letting existing customers use the Steam version with their current accounts is nonsense.

Wait, are new buyers getting the Explorer pack too?The bonus that was supposed to be only for preorder. Are new buyers getting the awesome choose any race in any alliance bonus?I hope not.Im actually waiting for the game to mature to be one of the relatively few ppl to be able to play any race in any alliance. Can anyone clarify me on the explorer pack thing? are new buyers getting it too?

Yes, per the steam contract all Expansion and add-ons or content, must be available to any player who decides to purchase from steam. So any "Special snowflake item" which you had is no longer a special snowflake item, and anyone with a steam ESO account can buy it.

Short answer, yes the explorers pack is available for purchase on Steam. It's.. 14.99 if I remember right from looking at it last night.

Which also sucks, because I don;t have it, and I can;t buy it without buying another ESO account. (I bought mine from the ESO store). So once again, were ***.

I haven't played in a few days.. I may just cancel my sub and be done with this ***.

This is nothing short of a steel-toed boot to the teeth of those of us who have played since launch. If I'd known you were going to pull this stunt, I would have saved the $30 in sub fees and the $40 on the game itself (I have Imperial edition) and just waited a few months. Thanks a lot!

Ha, I bought the CE edition for $60 at GameStop which included all the CE treasure chests (best 'vanity') and a pet skeeter I think it was. Too bad the banks don't offer a separate kennel because I got tired of the useless thing and destroyed it--only other option.

They can have all the stuff all they want. What I have a right to expect is my reward for playing from launch and not waiting a few months. Since my reward items are now available to the late-comers, they aren't rewards anymore are they? So at least give me the bloody wolfhound!

Honestly, who comes along and says, "I'm sure this won't *** any of our current customers off! They'll be fine! They want new people to play with more than they do a silly vanity pet.....What's the worst that could happen?"

Fire him/her/them. Or at the very least slap the living hell out of them and make them go sit in the corner and think about what they've done.

    Unacceptable.

I lol'd at this, but I agree. Okay, don't fire them, seriously, that's a bit of an over-reaction (I mean, people need their jobs). But somebody has ridiculously poor judgement in that office, to think that this decision would not make existing players at least a little miffed, if not downright furious.

I'm one of the "been playing since beta/early access/subbed ever since release" players. I bought the digital Imperial/Collectors edition long before the game released. My husband purchased the physical Imperial/Collectors edition at the same time. And this just really feels like a slap in the face to us. Obviously someone made a judgement error. That's cool. We all do it. But it's not too late to fix it, and it would go a long way in improving relations with your "long-time" player-base to do so, and quickly.

Obviously I'm not going to quit over this. I'm not one of those kind of folks, even if I have been locked out of playing for near a week because my account was stuck logged into the server and customer service just kept putting the blame on *my* system (it was fixed with that nice big server reboot). But a lot of little things add up to big reactions.

Screwing over your existing playerbase ALWAYS = bad.

Here's an idea. How about ESO players can add their ESO game to steam and those who have the imperial edition and do so get the dog vanity pet.

I don't think that will work based on what I've seen. I actually submitted a support request on the website asking for the wolfhound and received this response, which implies that even if you try to acquire the game through Steam and link to your existing account you won't get the vanity pet:
Thank you for contacting The Elder Scrolls Online Team.

We do see that people are upset about the wolfhound pet only being available to people buying the game on Steam. As much as we would love to hand out the wolfhound pet to our loyal players who have been playing before then. We do not yet have the tools to give out the wolfhound pet for players that obtained the game before Steam.

For now it's exclusive content for Steam to promote buying it through Steam. Personally, I play the game and use Steam. We can't get the pet either. But I wouldn't doubt that in the future it will be available to the players like us.

We apologize for the issue, and have noted this for future reference. Reply back to this message if you have any other questions. Your feedback is important on changing issues such as these.

Thank you for your continued interest and support!

So they're telling us that a bunch of computer programmers can't put their nerdy little heads together and figure out how to sort who's got the Imperial editions in their database? I smell Bull****.

Foul, you offer the Steam Community perks (no matter the reason) and not extended those perks to the rest of the ESO players. Excellent way to kill loyalty. I would absolutely upgrade from the standard edition, if you swapped out the Crab and the rings for the Wolfhound.

    Hi,

I am a long time fan of the Elder Scrolls franchise. I have played just about every Elder Scrolls game there is and have a massive collection of Elder Scrolls merchandise. Naturally, I was excited about the release of the Elder Scrolls Online. I played the beta and loved it. So, I pre-ordered

    1) Digital Imperial Edition for playing on my PC
    2) Physical Imperial Edition for my collection and
    3) An Imperial Edition for the Xbox One.

The game was amazing and I also made it a goal of mine to obtain every single DLC or piece of digital merchandise, in general, available for ESO.

That being said, I was disappointed when I read that ESO was going to be available on Steam with a discounted price and a special vanity pet for a limited time only. Plus, no key for players like me who payed full price at launch.

I am not here to complain but to enlighten those at Zenimax to the conundrum that us loyal players are in. Also, thank you Zenimax for offering the Riften Wolfhound pet at "some time in the future". I am looking forward to it.

In the half a year that I've been loyally playing ESO, I not once wanted to create a forum account. Yesterday I asked customer support to create me a forum account just so I could voice my displeasure with the absolutely terrible monetisation and game fund allocation decisions that the suits at Zenimax have made, culminating in this Steam sale cash grab. But now that I have read through entire threads regarding this Steam sale, I don't even have to rage at all.

There's an overwhelming consensus among the player base.

Deal with that as you will, Zenimax.

ps., you corporate suits at Zenimax seriously need to pay your customer support staff better. Every time corporate takes a dump on TES fans, the people at customer support have to clean up the mess. The exceptional customer service I received yesterday was probably the one reason that I did not cancel my sub in protest.

I'm soooo glad I threw in my sub last month. Would have been so annoyed and felt ripped off but now there is no chance I'm ever coming back. Terrible way to treat people. I could understand this if it was maybe a year or more down the line but at this early stage after release it simply means they took my money for the imperial version for a beta game.

Seems to me they are just after another money grab b4 f2p and shafting the people who gave them money early.

And before you all go off on one I actually like the core game. Just couldn't get get on with bots, gold spammers, high cost of repairs etc etc etc.

    (From my post HERE)

    Dear Zenimax,

First of all, thank you for finally collaborating with Steam to get this done. This is what a large portion of your PAYING customers have wanted since the announcement of the game. I appreciate the effort, as do many others, as made apparent by the previous posts on this subject. As you know the Steam community is HUGE, and I know that a strong sense of community is very important to this project. So, again, the community thanks you.

That being said, a large portion of us are wondering when we will be receiving our codes to include ourselves in this large and ever growing community. Obviously the benefits of having this game on Steam outweighed the cons for you. So, my question really is this: why is it that we have not received our Steam Redemption Codes?

Almost more importantly, why is there not a way to MERGE the accounts for those with the means to purchase a SECOND copy of the game? This seems to me an oversight, because, SURELY the community and continued support of the fans and SUBSCRIBERS is worth whatever small cost it would be to grant us this. Many of us paid for the Digital Imperial Collections, merely to show our support of the game.

Thank you for your time, I would really appreciate if this was sent up the chain.
    Hakujou.

To my community, keep this thread alive! Show them we care. Please add to this letter make your point.
