Also, I wanted to say that aside from the horse, nothing from the imperial ed was anything I cared to use...in fact, it's still all sitting at the bottom of my mailbox (as well as a duplicate from that bug). I bought the Imperial ed to have access to an affordable horse and because I wanted to support the development of this game.

That said, it does kind of feel like a slap in the face for steam buyers to get a neat wolfhound pet (which honestly just looks like a stray dog, nothing wolf-like about it) while we were offered....crabs.

Zeni should be giving the loyal players a special pet on top of giving us the "new player pet." You are making it *WORSE* by having a separate pet without giving us the grey one. Zeni, why do you insist on *** us over? Just give us the pet and show you aren't just lost in your own bubble and taking our money while you do whatever you are doing.

If I can't collect every pet that comes out *AFTER* getting the game, then its ***. There should be no exclusive items for new players. Sure, have new offers to show new players, but make sure everyone who is already sub'd gets it too. Just not players *AFTER* the deadline. You can't be serious.

Hey, everyone. We’ve received many questions about how non-Steam customers can get the in-game ESO Whiterun Wolfhound pet that is currently an exclusive part of the Steam offer. While the grey wolfhound will remain an exclusive through Steam, we will be offering a brown version of the Wolfhound pet (tentatively called the Riften Woflhoud) at some point in the future. Stay tuned for more details on how you'll be able to get your hands on one.

This is perfectly how i feel lols.

I kept my sub in hopes that i would be able to get them all , one of the reasons i prefer to join MMOs as soon as possible to get all there is.

Any reason i had to keep my sub up supporting only is now gone , we now play the , either i have content to play or i unsub game.

Btw, for those wondering, if you try to enter the Steam CD key into the "Redeem Code" area of your account page it says "you do not qualify for this product." Not sure if it's just me, or if it's because Steam codes are not compatible with existing accounts. :/

*edit* Submitted a ticket to customer support asking about this. We'll see if such integration is even in the works, or if it can be done manually by support

Besides that, I pre-order the imperial edition, as you claimed it was a "limited" edition. Well, I think it is an "eternal" edition, as in almost 4 moths after the release it is still being sold, now half price in Steam. That means we won't have anything unique. On the contrary, we will have the same thing people now will, half priced, except THEY will have a unique pet.
They didn't say the Imperial Edition was limited. They said its content was exclusive - and it's true, you can't get it without buying the IE. Moreover, it was revealed almost right away that standard edition buyers would be able to upgrade to Imperial Edition at any time.

Why would they be compatible? Everything we've been told so far points at the two versions not working together at all. No official word about possible future integration. Besides, you can't link two games to one account.

@Rosveen‌ I actually got a reply from Customer Support.

Copied from the email I received
We have applied your code to your account, There have been a few people who have not been able to apply it themselves and we have been able to apply it ourselves. But most people are not experiencing this issue and have been able to apply it themselves. Can I help you with anything else today Tina? :)

So if anyone else isn't angry enough not to upgrade their Standard Edition to Imperial, then you should be able to use the Steam CD key you get.

@Skelfish That's great. :) But I'm confused now. Steam doesn't let me buy the upgrade if I don't have the standard edition on my account. So how did you get the code in the first place? Would buying it as a gift work?

Not that I really want to upgrade, I'm just curious.

Personally, I just coughed up the money for standalone Imperial Edition. Mostly because you said that the Upgrade doesn't work if you don't have the Steam version. :B
What would have been smart is to contact CS first and ask if the 20 dollar Upgrade would work for existing accounts BEFORE I bought it.
As it stands, I went ahead and sent an email to them asking about it, so we'll know for sure in a little bit.

All of the points I would have made have been said. Just wanted to add my voice to the masses of loyal customers from the beginning and beta who feel completely slighted by this. I have about 20 days left. If they can't convert existing customers to steam properly I just can't support this company.

Love the game, but not enough to put up with a company who continues to make very poor decisions (which is a likely indication that they will just continue to make poor decisions.)

Just another name to add to the list of people who think this is out of order. This game is only a few months old (which in MMO terms is nothing) and it's just insulting to those of us who played the beta and/or then paid full price.

Whether or not vanity pets 'matter' is very much personal opinion. Personally I am more annoyed by the fact it's 40% cheaper!

Yes, this will always happen eventually to everything you buy: it's a fact of life. But to open up the launcher and have ZOS proudly announce they're selling the game on Steam for 40% less than I paid is very thoughtless.

Yeah im sick of all the BS ZoS has been pulling.

WTF should Steam Compatability/Support, Achievements, Card drops etc and a dog be exclusive to ONLY people who buy 4 months after launch?!

its ridiculous, and obvious ZOS gives 0 *** about current and long term supporters. Anything to make more $$$

Okay, are people REALLY this jealous, angry, or, I lack WORDS for how much energy some seams to put in ONE THING ONLY?

Have we players been so used to a global Auction house, in REAL LIFE, that unless we can see by the POINT, what everything will cost, we go berserk IF SOMEONE GETS IT BETTER?!

    * WHAT have Zenimax, another company then Steam, have to do with anything else then offering SALES through Steam? Go ask STEAM!?

    * Why are not Windows LIVE giving the same? Why are not EA system giving the same?
Where is the angry storm for the lack of connecting to these 2?

    * Where are the complaints about buying XBox A as "sale", then 3 months later. Buy it as sale for 10% less?.

Have we become so tunnel visioned, that ANYTHING outside of ME is unfair?

Are all these posts from completely oblivious people about what BUSINESS, in the real world and ANY STANDARD "SALES" strategies are about? Ever gone into any store and seen "sales"? For something that cost 50% more 2 days ago?

Have NONE of you EVER seen, "buy X product now".
    - You buy it.
Then 3 months later.....its 10% cheaper? WHATEVER it may contain?

This is business. Did you have to pay more to get it first? Ok!!! So what?
Did you not get a dog that did not exist when you bought the prepack? SO WHAT?!
    • Is it a SECRET that ordering and getting new game first, normally is more expensive then waiting a while?

    It.....is.......BUSINESS!

I do understand. It seams like some players are acting like the world is ending because they did not get a vanity dog.

NOTE: I paid full price. 60 euros or what it was. I GOT EXACTLY what was in the box and EVEN so, I got updated treasure maps for Vet content that was NOT included in the box.

I do not understand why ADULTS would even rage like this, for something they did not PAY for.

I don't care about the pet.
I don't care about the price reduction.

All I want is my account linked to Steam so I can participate in their forums, collect trading cards, and generally enjoy the things I enjoy about using Steam to play games.

Hell, as others have posted, I am willing to pay whatever it costs Zenimax to do this (people have bandied about a 30% of box figure, which I would happily pay.) I would have already repurchased the game through Steam if I was able to link it to my current account/characters, but starting over from scratch sounds like about 4 months of repeat work to me...

LOL. I think it's pretty funny reading folks here ripping on those who want the vanity pet, but on the other hand want their game linked to Steam for 'achievements'... which is simply another vanity 'item'. LOL.

I don't care if the game is on Steam or not. The game works perfectly fine without it.

The reason we get into an MMO early is two-fold. We are excited about the game and want to get into it as soon as possible. We also don't want to miss out on anything that the game may have to offer. We all know MMO's change and evolve as time goes on, and that a price we pay for getting in early is that bugs and balance problems will constantly be going on. What we don't expect is that our loyalty and support of an MMO will get us left behind on content and features that are introduced later on in the development. Surely someone must have expected the player base would have interest in vanity pets and Steam integration. That is why it hurts so bad that the only way we can get in on the new stuff is to pony up more money, and kiss our current progress goodbye. This is a horrible way to try to extend the late game content. This method of getting new content by paying for it is a F2P game design. I pay a subscription to ensure I am always guaranteed to get access to new content WITHOUT having to pay more.
And to find out about this new stuff through the game's launcher, only to find out that I have no way of getting it, is just dumb and hurtful. It serves no one and no purpose other than to *** off the only people who are currently paying for your game.

@Rosveen‌ Well, according to CS, if you can get a code from either the standalone or the upgrade version, you can use it to upgrade any existing standard edition. If anyone is interested, I would try sending the upgrade code as a gift in order to get around the Steam requirement that you have the base game in your library.

it really goes to show that people who support these games early are getting screwed. I payed 100 dollars for the game and the first month the game had more bugs than I could count. It felt like the beta version of the game I had played the month before. I have 2 crabs a monkey and a scuttler vanity pet. The dog should replace one of the crabs that I never use. Its not so much that they got a better vanity pet. To me its really about the game being released for half price 3 months after launch. I could see if they were giving the game a price cut say 8 months down the road but there not. The game literally just released and its half price. Not 10 dollars off or 5 dollars. Freakin half price is so freakin ridiculous. One thing I will say is that if this is your grand scheme to sell subs I think it has failed. I know that I canceled my sub fee because I am no longer going to support these games that dont support there early followers.

Yeah, this is a really big "**** you" to those of us that have been here since the beta. We paid full price for our benefits, and have even been with you for an extra two months, unlike most people, and now anyone can pay almost half what we did, get the benefits, plus a neat vanity pet, and you guys thought that we would be cool with that? How about, discount your STANDARD edition, and keep the Imperial Edition at it's normal price. And as a "thank you" give all of us a vanity pet plus to those that actually bother buying the Imp edition... But, don't worry- I won't hold my breath...

ZOS gave us one BS answer that was copied and pasted and they still have not formally addressed the issue. What would be really nice is if they would:

1 Acknowledge that there are people upset that those of us who bought the game at release will never be able to use Steam.
2 Apologize for the obvious oversight and at least look into possible solutions.

What did they do instead? Nothing. They haven't even addressed it except to say that we can add it as a non Steam game. It really makes us think that they don't care about us or our concerns. Basically by ignoring it they are making the problem worse.
