For those who say vanity pets don't matter, you are more than entitled to have that opinion.
Vanity pets matter to me, they're a part of this entire experience and being a dog owner irl, having one in the game just gives me that much more customization options for my character. I have no issue with those who buy the steam edition getting a special wolfhound, they're finally choosing to support the game and that is to be celebrated, but steam keys should be a no brainer for those of us who already purchased, if you already bought the imperial edition then you should get a key for the same version on steam with the included benefits. I like having my games integrated into steam, but have experienced problems in the past that seemed to be related to the fact I was initially launching my game through steam and it was a non-steam game with a bare bones overlay.

Will me not getting these items be the end of the world for me? No, probably not.
Will I second guess any future purchases I make because I've been burned for being an early adopter? absolutely. If you're not prepared to just provide existing players steam keys for the matching product on steam, it would be nice to receive a different version of the wolfhound (another color).

I feel a little frustrated by all this...I do care about Vanity pets...especially one as cool as the wolfhound....I am a purchaser of the $100+ CE of the game (Which we all know had its issues with game codes) and now people can purchase the game for half off and get a pet.

At the very least we should get a loyalty pet (a version of some sort of the Wolfhound) for the people who bought the game when it came out and have been basically Beta testers paying to play the (Live) beta.

I dunno..it kinda feels like a punishment for not waiting to buy the game at a later date..We get some lame Mudcrabs whoopdeedooooooo (Which steam users will also get by purchasing the Imperial Edition at a much lower price than most of us paid and will ALSO recieve the wolfhound). I agree with MrGhosty.
And also yes the perks of steam would be great (Badges, cards etc.!)

Adding my voice to the chorus...Yes, you are a business, Zenimax, and need to make money. Yes, the more players, the merrier, and the more lush and rich the game will become. So far, so good. But why not take this opportunity to reward players who've been here from the start? Alienating them by excluding them from content/perks seems like a bone-headed marketing move -- especially when it would be so easy to deepen their loyalty and garner their enthusiasm (and thus create momentum) for the QuakeCon announcements by, for example, giving them a loyalty version of the Wolfhound. Friends tease me and my guildmates for playing ESO, pointing to the press and tales of bugs galore -- but we're keeping the faith and rooting for you. Your actions need to affirm that our loyalty is cherished.

It doesn't even have to be a reward, or something complex. Just have, in the account option for every account not attached to a steam account, a new tab that says "Steam Code" we click the tab, we get the code, we go to steam and add a steam game by that code. Then our pre-owned ESO is now activated on steam and we are able to join that community. Nobody is forced to, if you don't want to link it you don't use the code. Simple and easy and what LOTS of previous games have done when they got onto steam.

I bought the Imperial Edition in both digital and hard copy, just to be sure I wouldn't miss anything. As for the dog, set it on fire, stick it up your asses and have a hot dog on me.

I just bought this 9 days ago - the Imperial Edition no less. I really would have liked to know that this was coming to Steam and I would have waited for it. I don't mind if I get the vanity pet but please give us a key to add it to Steam.

The more people that complain, the more likely Zenimax is to listen, so I'll add my complaints. To those of you who say we are whiners for wanting the dog, if you don't care about the dog it is your opinion. But we are also entitled to ours. Whenever I play anything, I am very big on character customization and developing the story behind my character. For me, the wolfhound would be a great companion for my khajiiti nightblade who loves exploring unknown ruins and forests. Not only would I like to have it, but I have a right to it. I did buy the Imperial Edition, did I not? For a full price of about 80 dollars, did I not? I was never given any indication that the game would be available on Steam, or I would have gladly waited. I don't JUST want the dog, even if it is certainly a plus for me. I want all the bonuses of having my game registered with Steam as well. But most of all, I want confirmation that my 80 dollars was well spent and that my loyalty to the game through fps issues and broken quests is actually appreciated. We play your half broken game because we are commited to it, because we want to see it grow. And now you shaft us like this? Wow.

Also, I never really felt the need to post to the forums till now. That is how much this issue angers me. We basically paid more for less.

Not that I believe for one second that my comment will have any impact on what Zenimax will do about this, I suspect nothing will be done anyway, but I have to add my opinion to the already long list of complaints.

This move to incorporate ESO into Steam is an excellent one, which will hopefully improve the in game experience for all by adding new players. That being said, this move has been taken without ANY consideration for the feelings of the existing fan-base.

No, I'm not upset about the ridiculous price drop, leaving thousands of people out of pocket, this often happens to MMO's, the price drops after the initial rush. and whilst I would love to have a new vanity pet, it's not that this upsets me too much either, its that Zenimax have not only ignored their pre-order fans, they have outright mocked us! By giving better bonuses at a cheaper price to new players it's a giant slap in the face to us loyal player, rather than a thank you that we deserve for sticking through the bugs and changes. They have also gone back on their word and are actually verging on breaking the trade descriptions act. They clearly stated that the bonuses we received for Pre-ordering were EXCLUSIVE (Restricted to the person, group, or area concerned), thus meaning we were getting something nobody else could get. That is what we paid so much for, exclusivity, yet now anybody can have this, and more, for half the price.

I have a feeling that if something isn't done to resolve this poor show of customer support, moving to steam like this will backfire and rather than bringing in more players, you will lose a large proportion of your existing customers.

Too many of us have been paying Beta Testers for the past 4 months. Time to be nice I think rather than screwing us over. Personally I am waiting until August to see if I can be bothered wasting anymore money. VR is almost a total bore....

You add it to steam manually ?

I want to add my copy of TESO on steam. My reason is DLC and the community interactions that are available via steam service. Adding TESO as non-steam game, when it is officially a steam game, does not cut it. Why block possible features for clients who own the game before it released on steam. It is disdain to your' clients!

I'd really appreciate it if I could link my account to Steam. I use it as a non-Steam game for the overlay all the time, and it'd be nice to have the more official touch (for screenshots and stats and what not).

Also, I'm happy it's on sale. I know quite a few people who were interested in it but weren't sure if they wanted to pay full price.

Sometimes, just like real life, things happen and you feel shafted and you have no control. Suck it up, deal with it, and move on.

I'd rather see an on-going community that builds rather than a few months of people rushing to v12 and then whingeing there's no more content to do.

I love ESO. But I am unsubscribing. I would rather pay for a new MMO then pay $30 to start over. It is ridiculous that they won't even work with us on this. Can people that paid full price for the Imperial CE edition get the dog? NO. Is there a way get the dog by signing up with steam and linking a previously purchased copy? No. Ok so if I bite the bullet and pay the $30 can I use the code on my account now and keep my existing characters? NO. They "say" they are going to offer a brown one at a later time. What impossible hoops are we going to have to jump through or how much money are we going to have to pay to get it? I have wanted that GREY dog since beta. I have kept crossing my fingers and hoping that it would be offered. Now it is a slap in the face because it is offered if only I give up ALL that I have achieved and start over. NO thanks. I will start over with a different game.

Hey, everyone. We’ve received many questions about how non-Steam customers can get the in-game ESO Whiterun Wolfhound pet that is currently an exclusive part of the Steam offer. While the grey wolfhound will remain an exclusive through Steam, we will be offering a brown version of the Wolfhound pet (tentatively called the Riften Woflhoud) at some point in the future. Stay tuned for more details on how you'll be able to get your hands on one.

Putting this on steam and giving us no way to activate it there is ridiculous. Bought the game a week ago now you are telling me if I want it on steam I have to buy the game again?

Absolutely ridiculous. Don't worry though, the transfer to consoles will be FREE, but an activation code for steam is too much trouble?

Bought one full-price imperial and one full-price standard edition and now they are 2.5 to 5 times cheaper on steam just 4 months after the release. Steam does have specific policy for CIS countries like Belarus but ESO doesn't! People who will buy the game now on Steam will get absolutely same service as I did. Oh wait, they also get a unique vanity pet...

    b17cef1cf84f51418f94593b68f120d5.png

    Imperial:
    ESO: 80 euro = $108.18
Steam ordinary: $40 is ~ 2.7 times cheaper than $108.18
Steam discount: $24 is ~ 4.5 times cheaper than $108.18

    Standard:
    ESO: 55 euro = $74.38
Steam ordinary: $30 is ~ 2.47 times cheaper than 74.38
Steam discount: $15 is ~ 4.95 times cheaper than 74.38

Their support is trying to get rid of me with short lame replies...

I think This a *** answer from people who have no idea of what getting dragged through the mud means. For us to get a slightly different dog available later? having (as someone pointed out) our exclusive content for pre order flung out into the open for everyone to get and use. + getting items we never hope to get unless we want another copy that we can't transfer our current characters over to?

This answer and continued answers have made up my mind, I can't be kept dragging through the mud like this, as much as I like this game as much as I have payed for it up till now and would have liked to keep paying to play. I, AM, DONE.

Hopefully Zenimax makes an announcement very soon to make sense of what's happening.

For now, I have less privileges than people who bought the game LATER AND CHEAPER (I preordered and am paying monthly since then).
    I feel it's quite wrong
(and I don't care much about other people opinion on that matter) and if things don't change quickly, well I will just cancel my subscription.

And spend my time on Marvel Heroes instead of TESO.

Zeni should be giving the loyal players a special pet on top of giving us the "new player pet." You are making it *WORSE* by having a separate pet without giving us the grey one. Zeni, why do you insist on *** us over? Just give us the pet and show you aren't just lost in your own bubble and taking our money while you do whatever you are doing.

If I can't collect every pet that comes out *AFTER* getting the game, then its ***. There should be no exclusive items for new players. Sure, have new offers to show new players, but make sure everyone who is already sub'd gets it too. Just not players *AFTER* the deadline. You can't be serious.

    Dear Zenimax,

I contacted your support and the official word is that we are not getting a Steam key, even if we pay for it, to integrate our current account with steam. Well, just so you know, I have dozens of Retail games, with keys I activate in steam too. But ESO will be different. No integration to my steam account, so no achievements, no future workshop, trade cards or any other features that steam offers. There's a lot of my friends asking me about the game and even congratulating me for being able to play it now in steam.

When I explain to them the policy of your company, regarding to the steam release, and to us, old and faithfull users who supported this game since the beginning, paid the full price before the release, beta tested the game for you and had a lot of patience with your bugs, specially the main quest bug, the word is that they will never buy this game.

Besides that, I pre-order the imperial edition, as you claimed it was a "limited" edition. Well, I think it is an "eternal" edition, as in almost 4 moths after the release it is still being sold, now half price in Steam. That means we won't have anything unique. On the contrary, we will have the same thing people now will, half priced, except THEY will have a unique pet.

And yes, it bothers me that people buying the game 3 or 4 months after the oficial release are obtaining a unique item, that pre-order and beta users (and all time users, since I play this game since its release), will never get. It is not about this specific pet, but about the future "promotions".

Ohh wait, now there's the brown one. Well, whoever thinks this is only because of some pet, doesn't know anything about the structure and services steam offers.

Anyway, even if I'm willing to buy an account for integration with this one in steam, I can't. So I need to buy another one and start all over again to benefit from the steam plataform. Well, I'm sorry but this is just stupid, and there's no other word for it.

Most of my friends are checking with me, as I added this game as non steam game since day one, and I've been playing 6, 7 hs dairy. But that, doesn't integrate the game to steam. I read all this thread and whoever suggested that to us must be joking...and this is a serious matter.

I can't recommend, as I was doing it earlier, a game from a company treating us like that, so, most of my friends won't buy it...I can guarantee you that. If and when you make things right, let's see about it.

In time, I would like to say that I agree with most posts in here, except with the ones focusing specifict on the pet...this is not about some lame pet, this is about ethics and respect.
