State of the game for NBs - 1.1.2 nerf (dk buff...?)

    What about fixing the shadow cloak skill? Wrong activating cost (you need 700 mana to cast it, but it costs 400...) and DOT's not being removed on cast...
    I mean did they even fix the ambush not working (half of the time you stay there and don't tp...)

    Wow I ve been waiting all this time for nothing...
    Good thing the vamp passives have been fixed though.

    I just 'bushwhack' with my NB in Cyrodiil. I am a dual wield/bow with Shadow/Assassination lines. I get pulverised in large scale battles. I've learnt to overcome that by playing the 'pure' assassin.

    I hide in the wilderness along trails that you know will be used by the enemy between their keep and yours. Bow used to knock rider from horse, a couple of quick shots while they try to work out what is happening, teleport strike, shadowy disguise, death stroke or ambush.

    I can't take on more than one player my own level and I have been PvPing in one form or another since 2002. However, I think as an assassin, if you miss your shot on a target you will of course suffer for it.

    BUT...in saying all of this, I desperately want to see all passives working as intended. That is an honest and fair treatment of any class. I like sneaking and ambushing kills...but I don't like wondering why skills aren't firing or working as intended while I lie dead on the ground.

    I will reserve full judgement until I've seen the interplay between the adjusted classes on the battlefield and in PvP.

    I do agree with an earlier poster that for some reason dps NBs aren't in high demand for dungeons. I don't know why as mine in nimble as hell and can hit hard and fast. That is the key really to what we do; stealth, ambush, dodge. We aren't heavyweight goliaths. We are hit and run specialists.

    There is a bug though, if you're crouched and cast Dark Cloak when Dark Cloak ends the Concealed Weapon movement buff goes away. You need to exit crouching and return to get the Concealed Weapon movement buff again.

    Indeed, the change to bash damage affects everyone who uses a shield, and is going to be the single largest change for the patch, in my opinion.
    The rest are, frankly, trivial in comparison. Bash damage (that is, being able to use your stamina pool to produce a reasonable amount of sustained DPS) was one of the only reasonable ways to take on VR content without dying constantly, or fights taking longer than 30 seconds for a single target. The nerf to Impulse will be a close second "big" change.

    Once again, Zenimax makes game-changing decisions without considering the long term impact.

    On the positive side, unlike AC2, at least this patch came out quite quickly after launch, so there's less waiting to see everyone leave in disgust. Keep going with the "adjustments", Zenimax, and keep noticing those subscription numbers falling. ;)

    At some point, eventually, you would think developers would actually learn from all the MMO history since 1996 and stop making the same mistakes. Guess it'll take several dozen MORE years.

    You haven't read 1.1.2 notes properly, have you? DK had shield bash nerfed which is a big thing. Both damage and stamina reduction have been decreased.

    Shield bash isn't DK exclusive.

    Any class can use sword and board.

    I dont seem to get any speed increase at all if im hidden and use cloak. Actually i think NB, as the stealth class, should have no movement penalty in hidden

    Nice, thanks. Right now my NB is simply parked, taking care of her horses. That's fun. But it's ok, b/c I'm leveling a sorc - wow, that is sooooooooo fun!!!

    Of course, because you cant build ult from npcs and then make the day ganking in 1 shots.

    If thats your way of balancing a class, then Im proud you are not in charge.

    Inhale got nerfed aswell, you should be reading the patch notes before saying things that are not even true about the dk changes. Not all of us are shieldbashers/pyromages. You should take a look to the 2handed weapon skill tree if you think DW is weak (Im talking about weakness, not amount of bugged skills).

    Most sorc/dk aoe skills do more dmg per target then NB single target skills, ontop of giving benefits like critical surge

    Honestly, I think people just dont experiment enough with their builds, or actually stick to it long enough and just come running to the forums asking for nerfs or buffs.

    I play a NB, when I see a DK, I instantly switch to my bow. This is my ranged set up. 1. Swallow soul (underwhelmeing and easily replaceable, just havent worked out what to put here.) 2. leeching strikes (must have) 3. mass hysteria (not a must have, but a beautiful skill) 4. silver shards (I fight against AD vamps the majority of the time, it'd be silly not to have this, plus I want at least one skill that uses stamina on my bar) 5. Crippling grasp (must have).

    This set up is not good on DPS, but a DK or any other melee player will have an extremely hard time killing me. I've killed many DK's with this, vamp or not, and walking away with a full health bar. They use fiery grip or talons, roll dodge away, I keep doing it, as many times as it takes. All the while Im spamming them with life steal and root, basic attacks to replenish my resources and health. I can use mass hysteria to get their shield down for a couple of seconds, but I have to get close to do this, and Im quite safe to whittle their stamina bar from a distance. Once they cant block any more, they're toast. Im vet rank 1, Ive killed a vet rank 10 DK 1vs1 with this set up. And you could tell he didnt like it very much at all.

    If I run into a ranged DPS player, my other bar has stuff to deal with them with my melee skills.

    Theres plenty of builds that can toast mine, just not melee DK. Im only concerned with killing them, because thats the vast majority of what I see.

    Notice how I dont have cloak on the bar at all? I use that on my melee bar. If you're using this on both bars, you're not being very efficient. Also on my melee bar I got immovable. Which is great to toggle to as my "OH ***" ability. I'll toggle to that and pop it if I have stamina to burn. But you need stamina to roll dodge away, never leave yourself with less than a half bar against a DK, ever.

    Shield bash was nerfed / fixed, however you want to look at it. Pretty central part of what made some of the DK builds so strong.

    it is if your the person who dies from the one shot.. its happened to me and giving you guys free kills is just wrong.. you should never die to someone you cant see in one shot without the chance to react..... that needed removing, or give everyone a free kill button

How about an actual update to the class, you guys were quick to nerf vampires and I have seen several buffs and updates to DK and Sorcs since release, but yet NB is still a broken class.Several of our abilities and passives do not work. To add onto that you have nerfed the class by reducing the damage on Death Stroke a single target Ultimate ability. An ability that allowed you to move in, get a quick kill and get out without being swarmed by a zerg in PvP since Shadow Cloak does not work.

    Just a reminder all the broken abilities and passives for NB (not including weapon abilities, etc)

    Class Abilities and Passives:

    Assassination:

    Death Stroke <Incapacitating Strike> and <Soul Harvest> – On occasion the animation will happen however the ability is not actually triggered.
    Death Stroke <Incapacitating Strike> and <Soul Harvest> – If utilised to kill the target it does not give you ultimate resource back as it should.
    Assassin’s Blade <Killer’s Blade> and <Impale> – On occasion the animation will happen however the ability is not actually triggered.
    Assassin’s Blade <Killer’s Blade> and <Impale> - Is not able to cause a critical strike.
    Teleport Strike <Ambush> – On occasion the animation will happen however the ability is not actually triggered.
    Haste <Focused Attacks> and <Incapacitate> – The attack speed increase of 30% doesn’t affect any weapons.
    Haste <Focused Attacks> and <Incapacitate> – The attack speed increase of 30% doesn’t affect bows.
    Mark Target <Piercing Mark> and <Reaper’s Mark> – The ignore 75% of target’s Armour and Spell Resistance doesn’t appear to work.

    Mark Target <Piercing Mark> – Allows you to see and attack targets who are sneaking however not targets that are invisible currently.

    Pressure Points <Passive> – it is incorrectly giving 2% crit no matter how many assassin abilities are slotted. (Anyone have extra to add to this, noting the one previously changed?).
    Pressure Points <Passive> – Works as intended however the character pane does not display the bonuses.

    Shadow:

    Shadow Cloak <Shadowy Disguise> – Approximately 25% of the time this ability does not trigger any of its effects.
    Shadow Cloak <Shadowy Disguise> and <Dark Cloak> – On occasion you wont visually be invisible but you are to the mobs.
    Shadow Cloak <Shadowy Disguise> – When utilising this ability with low resources you will instantly be removed from stealth. (Can anyone confirm its not the same as above?)
    Shadow Cloak <Shadowy Disguise> and <Dark Cloak> – Your character becomes invisible however enemy players can see particle effects and thus be able to locate your player.
    Shadow Cloak <Dark Cloak> – Does not remove bleed debuffs from npc or player sourced specific ones mentioned are Axe, Twin Slashes, Cleave. (Any more to add to this, or confirm/deny?)
    Teleport Strike <Lotus Fan> and <Ambush> – Often when using Teleport strike it will have adverse effects to your FPS. (I have an Nvidia Graphics card, can anyone confirm on ATI,? I know this is broad)
    Teleport Strike <Ambush> – On occasion the animation will happen however the ability is not actually triggered.
    Veiled Strike <Concealed Weapon> – The 22% movement speed in stealth while slotted effect appears to suffer the dreaded “Once you’ve died you need to re-log or zone to rectify the issue”. Workaround: If you re-log or change zones it will force the passive effect to work again.
    Veiled Strike <Concealed Weapon> – Movement speed bonus is removed upon Shadow Cloaking until you re-stealth.
    Veiled Strike <Surprise Attack> and <Concealed Weapon> – Often the animation and stun effect will occur but no damage is done to the enemy.
    Path of Darkness <Twisting Path> and <Refreshing Path> – This ability appears to be affected by terrain, the magicka cost is spent however the ability does not trigger.
    Path of Darkness <Twisting Path> and <Refreshing Path> - Does not allow Siphoning Attacks to trigger.
    Path of Darkness <Refreshing Path> – Sometimes heals more than once per second, it has been document to happen anywhere up to 5 times per second on occasion.
    Aspect of Terror <Mass Hysteria> and <Manifestation of Terror> – The base fear effect of 2 nearby enemies doesn’t appear to last the suggested 4 seconds all the time. It is often between 1.5 – 4 seconds.
    Summon Shade <Dark Shades> and <Shadow Image> – The Shadow Image often stops attacking once the initial target it was cast on dies. Works as intended, this is an ability not a pet.
    Shadow Barrier <Passive> – Doesn’t properly increase your Armor when coming out of Stealth or Invisibility for 4 seconds. This ability is affected by overcharging of stats, hence the confusion.

    Siphoning:

    Strife <Funnel Health> – On occasion can heal more than the suggested 2 ally players and sometimes it doesn’t apply to anyone including the player.
    Strife <Funnel Health> – Doesn’t appear to be healing allies for the actual amount it should be, inconsistent heal effects.
    Strife <Funnel Health> and <Swallow Soul> – Due to the ranged nature of this spell the projectile often takes several seconds to land on the intended target (even if in melee range).
    Strife <Funnel Health> and <Swallow Soul> – Often once cast if the player was to turn away from the enemy target this ability will not do any damage to the intended enemy. (Nearly like it should be a channel from previous games)
    Strife <Funnel Health> and <Swallow Soul> – Takes a snapshot of the initial damage caused rather than cause variable damage throughout the debuff duration. (Can anyone confirm if this is intended or a bug?)
    Cripple <Debilitate> and <Crippling Grasp> – The dot effect of this ability does not work on mobs that are immune to snare effects.
    Cripple <Debilitate> and <Crippling Grasp> – Does not apply the snare effect.
    Agony <Prolonged Suffering> – The added effect of this morph is meant to deal extra damage and this doesn’t work.
    Siphoning Strikes <Leeching Strike> – Only gives an extra 2.4% health instead of the expected 4%.
    Siphoning Strikes <Siphoning Attacks> – Tool tip incorrectly lists that it also returns 4% health, when it gives no health and should not give health.
    Drain Power <Sap Essence> – The healing attribute of this morph is only increased by a maximum of 20% currently which is equal to one mob.
    Drain Power <Sap Essence> – Is unable to perform a critical strike for both the damage and healing component of this ability.
    Drain Power <Sap Essence> – Will not cast the heal effect unless the enemy is being damaged.
    Magicka Flood <Passive> – Gives 8% max magicka at level 2 per siphoning ability that is slotted. This passive doesn’t detect Strife or Soul Shred but does detect <Funnel Health> a morph to Strife.

    i have give up hope on classes in mmos that get not fixed, in my last game i played a class that get not fixed over 1 year and they always said it. I think the NB in this game will be the same, sure they will do something but it will not be the right thing. (look at patchnotes)

    But i wait till the month is over and if they need another Month to fix the NB i will move along.

    Charge, Talon spam, manage to dodge roll, fiery grip, talon spammed, Obsidian Shard , and bash spammed to death while knocked down. Not to mentin the shitloads of selfheals.

    yep Concealed Wep does close to 1.8k when crouched, proper positioned, Cycle of Life + Combat prayer buffs.

    under 600 for reg (170%) crit. (passives + mundus)

    Shadow Barrier <Passive> – Doesn’t properly increase your Armor when coming out of Stealth or Invisibility for 4 seconds. This ability is affected by overcharging of stats, hence the confusion.

    Siphoning:

    Strife <Funnel Health> – On occasion can heal more than the suggested 2 ally players and sometimes it doesn’t apply to anyone including the player.
    Strife <Funnel Health> – Doesn’t appear to be healing allies for the actual amount it should be, inconsistent heal effects.
    Strife <Funnel Health> and <Swallow Soul> – Due to the ranged nature of this spell the projectile often takes several seconds to land on the intended target (even if in melee range).
    Strife <Funnel Health> and <Swallow Soul> – Often once cast if the player was to turn away from the enemy target this ability will not do any damage to the intended enemy. (Nearly like it should be a channel from previous games)
    Strife <Funnel Health> and <Swallow Soul> – Takes a snapshot of the initial damage caused rather than cause variable damage throughout the debuff duration. (Can anyone confirm if this is intended or a bug?)
    Cripple <Debilitate> and <Crippling Grasp> – The dot effect of this ability does not work on mobs that are immune to snare effects.
    Cripple <Debilitate> and <Crippling Grasp> – Does not apply the snare effect.
    Agony <Prolonged Suffering> – The added effect of this morph is meant to deal extra damage and this doesn’t work.
    Siphoning Strikes <Leeching Strike> – Only gives an extra 2.4% health instead of the expected 4%.
    Siphoning Strikes <Siphoning Attacks> – Tool tip incorrectly lists that it also returns 4% health, when it gives no health and should not give health.
    Drain Power <Sap Essence> – The healing attribute of this morph is only increased by a maximum of 20% currently which is equal to one mob.
    Drain Power <Sap Essence> – Is unable to perform a critical strike for both the damage and healing component of this ability.
    Drain Power <Sap Essence> – Will not cast the heal effect unless the enemy is being damaged.
    Magicka Flood <Passive> – Gives 8% max magicka at level 2 per siphoning ability that is slotted. This passive doesn’t detect Strife or Soul Shred but does detect <Funnel Health> a morph to Strife.

    Can you post a link to where ZOS has officially confirmed and listed these issue please? I'm not sure that I have seen it.

    That is on a mob, GreasedLizard, not in PvP. You need to be precise or ppl will ask for nerfs on our broken class!

    The only reason anyone should ever open with Ambush is if you can't get behind your target in stealth for some reason.

    Either morph of Veiled Strike, whether Concealed Weapon or Surprise Attack, hits harder and crits harder for less magicka.

    Teleport Strike and its associated morphs are gap closers when they try to run, hence the stun on all of them and the snare on Lotus Fan.

    That being said, I really hope this: "Fixed an issue where a number of abilities were not properly able to cause critical strikes." means that Impale finally gets to crit. I know that is really only effective for bosses, but it would still be nice to see.

    Also, Mark Target and its morphs getting fixed would go a long way towards fixing things as well.

    I still don't like the fact that using any buff or debuff from hidden will negate the stealth bonus to the first hit. Why should I not get a stealth bonus if I've not been detected just because I decided to buff myself or mark my target first? If the skill doesn't get me noticed or otherwise draw aggro, how does it impede my ability to get that first stealth hit?
