It's clear that is not the issue. Servers aren't just "down" for select people for hours/days at a time outside of maintenance windows.

I appreciate people suggesting different things and understand everyone is trying to help, but (as a former casualty of the 301 error for 86 straight hours) the only thing that fixed my error was them bringing the game world down for maintenance.

I am still affected by the issue. NA server EST time. The really strange thing is that when I enter the wrong passphrase I am immediately told the information is incorrect. However, when I enter the correct passphrase, I get timed out, followed by Error Code 301 (3:1:1229:90098).

If this has been fixed for some people, why not all? Are they doing fixes manually?

Probably you will have to wait until the next server restart, cause Zeni cannot fix the problem for 1 week now. If I were you, I would find something else to do instead of sitting there and waiting for days.

OG 301'er like myself. It sucks that you have to resort to that, but it's really all you can do. - Represent 301

Today, faced with the same problem.

Already for a few hours I get "Login timeout" or "Error 301".

Advices, like "restart computer", "clear DNS cache" or "repair game" doesn't help.

Characteristically, if I enter a wrong password, I get "Your login information was incorrect...", but if I enter correct login/pass, I get "Login timeout" or "Error 301"

Add me to the list - I played yesterday afternoon, took a 30 minutes break, quit the game normally and now I get login timeout since last night.

Issued a ticket and no answer yet. And of course, this happens during the week-end.

Needless to say, it's not linked to my PC or connection as a friend cannot log in my account when his works just fine. I can still login to my account on website too...

Zenimax - is there any reimbursement for this issue? Do we get gametime applied to our account for each day we miss? What's the status on fixing this issue? There is zero helpful information on your support site about this.

I logged in yesterday but since I crashed out (Numerous crashes yesterday, however only one seemed to be detrimental to playing again) I haven't been able to reconnect to the server. Login timeout and Error 301 repeating itself as I attempt to connect.

My issue with the Error 301 (3:1:1229:90098) was resolved following the server maintenence on Thursday. However, I recieved a reply this evening from having my ticket escalated. I would have simply ignored it except I'm noticing that others are still experiencing this problem. To try and help, I thought I would copy/paste the response I got. It may help someone. At least that is my hope.

My name is David, and I'm a technical specialist with The Elder Scrolls Online support. My apologies if your customer support experience has been frustrating so far; I'd like to remedy that.

First things first, with regards to your query regarding a server restart, some North American server maintenance is planned for today at 8am EDT, and a reboot would naturally be part of this. So, it may be that your issue will resolve itself at this point!

However, if not, I'd like you to navigate to the folder where the game's UserSettings.txt is stored (Documents/Elder Scrolls Online/live) and open the file in Notepad. Please find the following setting and modify it to this value (it will probably be at "2"):

SET AcceptedEULAVersion "3"

Once modified, save the file, close Notepad, and try and launch the game again.

Please let me know if you require any further support in relation to this issue, and I'll be back in touch.

I am now stuck with this issue since this morning. Worked fine earlier on, logged off to take a break, tried logging back on and got the time out followed by the 301 error.

a lot of us are still having the unknown error/ error 301 BS. either ZOS sucks at there job or dont know programming. plain and simple. getting booted from dungeons/pvp and getting this message multiple times a day gets extremely annoying since the patch update of crag, and on top of that your staff THINKS most of us gamers are incompetent morons when it comes to gaming/pc's/ network. when TBH are prolly smarter then 90% of your staff.

hell a 2 yr old can copy and paste a reply to gamers and not know what there talking about. ring a bell to most of the reply's we get from ZOS customer support.....

Well... this could be coincidence, but I was getting the 301 error for about an hour. Then, just to be sure it wasn't my account, I logged into the Account area of the ES web site.

Interestingly, I had one of those "click through" Terms of Service pop up on me, that I had to accept to continue.

As soon as I accepted the TOS, I was instantly able to login. Like, within seconds - I have two monitors, and the game was trying to log in on one while I did the web site on the other.

Either accepting that TOS got me through the login issue, or else the timing was uncanny, as my access to the game was almost simultaneously fixed.

1. I was able to access another account in my household on the same computer, while my own was giving me 301. Thus, of course, my machine, installation, and network were not the issue.
2. As soon as I accepted the TOS, not only was I able to log into the game on my main machine, but also on my laptop, which had previously also been getting the 301 error.

So, it seems I did have an account issue, and that the TOS acceptance fixed it in my case.

do tell me how you guys got the TOS thing to pop up cuz i havent gotten the new TOS terms to pop up yet, getting very fed up with being booted from game either when i zone from zone to zone or into or out of dungeons and get the unknown error then when i re log i get error 301

Well now all of my chars are unable to log in.
2 logged out in Cyrodiil, 1 in Harborage/Glenumbra.

Can't even log in into account.
Had to alt f4 the game a few hours ago cause i could not log out properly (eternal in combat bug)
And now even after restart pc/router/game, repairs, accepting Terms of service and all, I still have that logging time out/ error 301.
Seems like every patch bring more bugs than fixes : /
