This has officially hit me as well... I am now at 16 hours. Had a weird crash while playing and ever since I get Login timeout and then 301 error. No solution so far. Tried everything.

This is obviously a server side error or something which the client doesn't handle correctly after login.

Hello! Had the 301-error since yesterday. The customer service could not help. Then I read that some guys could easily play on the PC concerned using another account. So the fault must lie within the account. The only way I know to change something within the account, is changing booking information, address or password. I changed the pwd and hoped this will result in a correct and new written account. ;-) Done - And it works! Hope it helps you too!

Got error 301 (3:1:1229:90098) on saturday . Reponse from CS is screw you and waiting until maintance. Lost all faith in support from Zenimax and I am fed up with the run around I always get. It is a reason for me to quiet the game

It is a shame cause the game is great!

Over a month ago I had the same issue, therefore I do not understand why this issue was not addressed and fixed already. Is Zenimax not a professional company?

Hey there, everyone. Thanks for reporting on this issue. Our Development Team is currently investigating what's going on, and we'll be sure to send this thread to them. We know that this issue is frustrating, and we appreciate your patience.

@ZOS_TristanK‌ ,is there any chance we can be credited with extra play time to cover what we've lost?

Probally not, ESO does not care about customers. At least this is my experience with customer services. I always get the same run around and palm face from them.

To bad cause the game is great, but i do not know how much more I can take. It stops somewhere for me to.

ZOS does care about their customers. You all tell them the problems you are having, and they get to work on fixing them as best and as quickly as they can. The problem is they may not be able to get it finished in 'your allotted time frame' and you all scold them for this. How many of you know how to fix the problems you are having? I wager less than 0.1%. Yes we all know you pay to play the game, and ZOS is fair about crediting the time you lose when something like this happens. Quit having unrealistic expectations and you will have a happier day and life in general. You all blame error 301 on ZOS, but from what I have seen a lot of people have it that have multiple connections through one router. Let's say 2 or more people connected through the same router, somehow at least one person ends up with error 301. This is something they can attempt to help correct, but ultimately the issue is on YOUR end. The ones that say not a problem on my end, it usually is.

You couldn't be more wrong if you tried. If someone has two accounts and only one account can be logged onto, it's clear where the issue lies. I'll give you a hint, it's not with the player.

Then there's the players that can log onto the PTS, but not their main server. Or those that can log onto the EU server and not the NA server and vice versa. Clearly the issue is on the player's end, right?

Also, they've admitted it's on their end.

That is not an admission of a problem on their end. That is an admission that there is a problem and they will try to adjust to help correct it. I don't know where you got a problem on their end from that, but you clearly don't understand what is said there.

The problem lies with the security checks in place and when multiple accounts attempt to log on from the same 'location' it is triggered and this is a symptom of that.

Something that can be corrected, but ultimately the players fault for not having any kind of stability in account access or management.

This is a very sad attempt to justify a net coding error when we're talking about an online game...(so 1 person can log on / "location??? LOL) It's rather the symptom of poor coding and unsatisfactory quality checking.

This Error 301 / Login Timeout pops up since beta. I was never affected up till now but fire up Google and take a look around. It will be OK after they restart the login server again.

Something that can be corrected, but ultimately the players fault for not having any kind of stability in account access or management.
This is even funnier (here I meant you, the excuse is even worse than the previous).
So you mean I bought a product but I should have observe some unwritten and unknown account access / management stability rule??? What are you talking about? If that would be an official answer for the problem ZOS + Zeni would go bankrupt in 1 month only because of lawsuits.

So in the last 2 days I was requested for the following task (only this since I told them at the start I already restarted router, traced route, pinged server and no probs with connection, created new ProgramData folder etc.):

Send in a DxDiag log.... just simply LOL
Customer Support currently play the old "We make you feel cared about" game, while they desperately try to find out the solution for a long time existing problem.
This is the worst way to communicate and almost 99% of companies in the gaming industry are doing this.

Dead end, not going to work, you loose too much on the long run...honest communication always better.

It's the 2nd day I'm not able to use my property which I actually paid for...getting annoyed.

Ps: ...and I love this game. So this was not a hate rant.

I have one account, one computer with one internet connection and I'm the only player. I've got a whole host of other programs that access the internet with no problem. How is the problem my fault? It's Zeni's responsibility to provide software that works as other program on my system manage to.

After finding a way that does help some people log in, it made me wonder about the login process. I am actually wondering how they have it set up.

For instance, let's say they have multiple nodes which a player can connect to, now when Player A was playing and disconnected, let's pretend that the node he was connected to didn't see he disconnected. Now, if the player were to try logging in on that same node (assuming zenimax doesn't have something in place to check for an account attempting to log in more then once and either auto kick the account or warn it) the login server would simply kick them back out thinking they were still in the game. So, let's now consider if the person spams the login server and finally, by a shred of luck, hits a different node then the one he was originally connected to. This new node does not see his account ingame so it allows it to connect.

Now, before anyone jumps on here and says this must be the issue, please understand it is only a possibility of what could be the issue, and it all depends on how the login server is set up.

Well still am suffering by ERROR 301.... after a couple of more login attempts it turn out to be ERROR 103 after, clearly there is something wrong with the client/server interaction and not sure if it is starting to escelate... haven't been able to log in since saturday and been locked out from the 15th, now 16th from the game as it is....

I need to check on stuff in game.

It sort of make sense, so what I read out from this is that one node crash.. followed by another then another... and soon there would be some many crashed nodes that you could do 100 attempts to login to the game and still fail to gain access.

Maybe they have a limiter per node one can use and if have been logging in many times the past months you start to run out of useable nodes like an unique key you get everytime, but it is just a speculation... certainly hope that bots suffer from it even more lol.

I wonder if they have tried yet with restarting the servers?

Yesterday evening I was playing for a few hours when I suddenly lost connection with the server, as many times before. Usually I just restart the game, annoying, but I can live with that since the game isn't very old and they need time to get it right.

However, I spent hours yesterday night, trying to get in, with no success. Finally I gave up and thought, naive as I am, that tomorrow (today, that is), they have probably sorted things out.

I must say, that after working 8 hours, coming home from work and now trying to logging in, I'm surprised to see that the game still isn't running. At least not for me...

Yesterday I could log on allright, but after choosing character the game loaded forever, or gave up after a long while.

Today, when I enter my password to log on, I get error 301 right away, "unable to connect to server". I don't even get to character selection screen.

I fully understand that you guys got big problems and you poor folks, probably underpaid and underappreciated, at support department probably ain't impersonating Ren & Stimpy, running around and singing the Happy Happy Joy Joy song right now...

But still, what makes me more disappointed than not being able to play the game, is the fact that you guys at support do NOT communicate with us.

This so called "support forum" is like a black hole of information.

We can see stray postings from ESO support guys/gals in some threads. But where are the daily updates. Let us know what you guys are doing. What is happening.

I guess ESO has got an older player base, counting myself being close (unwantingly close) to 40, and we probably have more patience than younger gamers in WOW and other games. But there's a limit for everything.

Having said that, it is much easier to wait if we know why we wait. For me, the silence and lack of information is MUCH, MUCH worse than not being able to play.

Please, start to communicate with us, if not you can re-label this "support forum" to "support silence". I know they say the latter is golden, but it's not true. We pay your salaries and if we get fed more silence, your wages will stop coming since we'll pretty soon start voting with our wallets.

Finally, don't get me wrong, I love this game and I'm fully aware that you guys supposed to answer postings like this can't be held responsible for the game not working. But, you can be responsible for the current silence.

Step up and speak, break the silence and you'll be heroes, even if we can't play the game...
