PTS Update 49 - Feedback Thread for Player Experience Improvements

    One idea for a future QoL feature would be a toggle to hide all player cosmetics, including Skill Styles, Polymorphs, Mementos, and Mounts.

    This would allow players to improve client-side performance, improve readability of skills, and reduce flashy visuals.

    Maybe this could be implemented as a single toggle to hide everyone else's cosmetics, or implemented as a blacklist to hide cosmetics from individual people. It could also be implemented on a per-cosmetic basis, allowing players to hide troublesome cosmetics from everyone, rather than all cosmetics from troublesome people.

    RuneScape implemented this very recently and would be a welcome change for ESO.

    One added bit for the Vampire bite and this is a female-khajiit specific problem, I think. Females already have a very longstanding eyelid problem (they don't have them; just eyelashes that occasionally blink), but on character selection they look like they have pink-eye with one eye normal colored and the other with the vampire red. When their idle animation plays (I think mine uses Brassy Assassin, so it could be personality specific in addition to being race/gender specific), then it switches and the other eye looks vampire and the first goes back to normal. Just a minor and weird visual glitch in a world without any documented cases of conjunctivitis.
    I'm fresh out of outrage, but I could muster up some amused annoyance if required.

    This is not the only longstanding vampire bug/visual pain point. Elves who contract vampirism in game have their eyes replaced with human eyes for some reason and dark skinned/furred/scaled characters get whitewashed. All three of these issues have been in game for a long time and I would really like to see them fixed. It was disappointing they weren't addressed with the vampirism overhaul back in Greymoor, especially since one of the main characters in the zone is a redguard vampire that actually looks the part.

    Thank you for bringing this up and reminding me about these bugs. I often don't play my vampire characters lately so sometimes I forget about them.

    Will the xp for both skill bars work if you are rocking an Oakensoul ring? What about if you have Werewolf abilities slotted but not currently in WW form?

    Do you notice and feel positively impacted by the Player Experience Improvements?

    Some changes are amazing, but some changes already impact me negatively. I will only mention what is relevant to an old player in general (and my own wish), because some improvements are only good for the newest players.

    1.Account-wide Outfit Slots: it should have been like this from the start, so it's awesome and my characters were starving for many years for multiple outfit options :) I have 0 additional outfit slots at the moment and I still evaluate if it's safe to buy a few now. But I still understand that there needs to be some customer appreciation shown to people who've maxed out their outfit slots on more than 1 character already.

    2.Backbar XP: it should have been like this from the start, so long overdue :( It's awesome anyway, it might still be useful for me personally in case we get more character slots.

    3.Guild Repping: good option! Now, please allow empty guilds to have Tabard as well! I have my own empty guild in other game, it has cool guild logo and I represent it for roleplay reason B) I would like to do the same in ESO too.

    4.Hide Armor Settings for all slots: simply amazing <3 Human body is beautiful and nothing to be ashamed of. But now we also need the option to recolor underwear of our characters (and maybe even more underwear styles), more belts (which actually look like belts), maybe some necklaces and more options for shorts/mini-skirts/bra-style outfits :smiley:

    Some outfits with uneven flaps look really unfinished. Flap in the front (and even sometimes at the sides) can look nice, but the lack of flap on the back can look unfinished (and even weird, when you can see frontal flap from the back)...

    5.Increased Furnishing Limits and Home Recategorization: very welcome, but I will wait for increase of furniture and collectibles in Notable homes :) I want to display all my Undaunted trophies, all my assistants, many pets and mounts together. When it happens, I will finally justify getting Clan Mother Tadali house guest and place her in my house :blush:

    6.Increased Transmute Crystal Cap: generous number bump, nice! I would prefer unlimited number, of course :D

    7.Respec Skills & Attributes in the UI for Free: perfection! This will make experimenting with builds and helping the group in the best way I can so easy! I do not want any limits to this system.

    8.Mounts-For-Gold: awesome idea, unfair and punishing implementation currently. All but 1 of those mounts were either sold for crowns, or were exclusive promotion reward for purchasing chapter at certain date :'(
    The only new mount for gold which was never released before is this:

    It is fancy, it costs the most appropriate gold sum of all other mounts (I would still make it 1 million gold at least), and it is exciting and equally new for every ESO player. It has perfect description as well, just the mount which was only ever available for gold.
    It was not part of any old promotion or Collector's Edition, it was not offered for real money - nobody has any reason to be unhappy when they see this mount in stables!

    And now look at this, just one example of many:

    Bleakrock Snow Dog was in store just a 5 weeks ago for crowns, soon it will cost 50k gold in game... I really like the fur pattern, so the only reason I haven't bought that mount was the red saddle (looks really bad on black and white dog) :o Otherwise it would be another 3k crowns wasted, and I would have no compensation for it. Can you please recolor this mount (change the black fur part to light brown, for example, and make the saddle dark brown/black for perfection) and sell recolored dog for gold instead?

    I own few other mounts which are offered for gold on PTS, so for me it's closer to 10k crowns already wasted. It's not ok to make people buy something, and then give away the same thing to everyone else - no matter how many time has passed :o
    There is even special Nix-Ox mount from old Vvardenfell Chapter promotion - this mount was the reason I bought that chapter back then, and it was nice to still have such simple yet rare item while the chapter itself was made base-game... :'(
    There are many Nix-Ox recolors, even fabricant variants - can you please make some simple Nix-Ox recolor and put it for gold instead? So that each player would have new Nix-Ox mount to spend their gold for.

    Same about all other mounts: just make a little recolors to versions which will be sold at stable masters. Not a single player should have a reason to be sad when they see new feature like this added to the game.

    The way it is on PTS already stopped me from buying more mounts on live servers. New flaming Vvardvark mount and pet are absolutely beautiful and spectacular (just like Hearthfire Cagouti was...), but nobody can give me guarantee that they won't appear in stables for a bit of gold later (just like Hearthfire Cagouti does on PTS...).

    9.Vampire/Werewolf/Curse: I have my strict roleplay feelings about these (especially Vampirism), so I do not like when these curses/blessings become easier to get. Wild Bloodfiends and Werewolves appear more frequently and even during the day? It's really bad for immersion... Going on an adventure every night and trying to spot these rare spawns is always exciting and feels "correct".

    10.Stackable Treasure Maps: I love collecting maps as part of my adventures, so this change is awesome.
    Now if only each map always granted an appropriate Antiquity Lead! For example, I own Necrom chapter since it was released, but I still don't have any Mirror antiquity furnishing from treasure maps there :(

    Any other points of feedback?

    I would love more character slots, account-wide armory slots, removal of Justice system for Necromancers/Vampires/Werewolves, and option to use Dye station for changing hair style colors for our characters, please.

    Just a small request. All ideas are very good. But by the way of hide pieces, would it be possible to implement a "lock" into outfit randomization and color randomization - exactly as it is in character creation?
    F. e. I found that, say, breton legs go well with minotaur chest so I would like to lock them so that they won't change when I randomize outfit?

    My feedback is about outfit slots. While they are being account wide which is nice i would like to ask this question. Is it possible to see what weapons the outfit slots currently edits in a single window and do further adjustments there?

    For example, outfit slots has altered my staves. But if i am wearing dual wield and two hander. I can not edit staves. I know it is not necessary to be able to edit staves while i am not using them, but i would like to see a screen where which weapons have been altered and to what.

    Kind of like i will go to the outfit station, select weapons for bars, edit them one by one. Without leaving the outfit menu and equip the said weapon type.

    I'm not sure where to report this issue, but since the first week of the PTS, my new character hasn't been able to set the key bindings to [Alt + any combination], whereas it works on the live server. I reported this issue during the first week of the PTS, but it still exists today.

    Thought of a few more QOL improvement requests:
    • Let armory save group finder role selection. It's super easy to change spec but forget to change role and accidentally queue into the wrong role.
    • Add jewelrycrafting stations, outfit stations, and working wayshrines to all trials that are missing them. This was added to newer trials but never retroactively added to older ones. Also add working wayshrines to arenas like Maelstrom (it even already has one physically there)
    • Add to housing tools ui the ability to scale up or down the size of items in size. Sometimes an item is nice but it's slightly too big or small for what we need it for and this would be a huge help.

    Is the addon updated to the current pts patch? What they’re saying is by default without addons, it shouldn’t work, which is what you’re seeing. So for this PTS, in order to get it working again as what you would see in live, best to see if the third party addon that does this for you has been updated.

    8. Various combinations of the above methods

    Additionally, during the first week of PTS, I could still bind ALT+Any to existing characters on the NA server using the same set of addons, but newly created characters could not.

    The billing team refunded my membership in the middle of the PTS test period. I did not ask for them to do this, but it happened and will not be undone. I learned something from it. Something that relates to player QoL, experience improvements. . .
    I have not play this game without a membership in over a decade of game play so this was a new experience.
    Having the bonuses to my House furnishing limits removed:
    • There is zero incentive to create or collect furnishings as I cannot store them
    • There is zero incentive to collect recipes for furnishings as house limits does not permit placing more than one or two of the classed items per house.
    • There is zero incentive to collect houses because I haven't the space to store items to furnish said houses.
    • The vault I was given no longer functions. It is holding 200+ items, but the limit is now zero instead of 500. Ever see an item provided as a gift or reward turn useless? This one does. Makes me concerned about the other items, pets, companions, mounts, scrolls given to me free because I have a membership. Are they going to stop working too.

    Having my craft bag use ended; I expected this it is not that big of change until:
    • There are dozens of styles of weapons and armor. One does not have the inventory space to hold all the different items for those styles.
    • Different character levels use different resource to make basic overland gear. So now we need space for about 5 layers of gear to cover the levels,
    • No incentive to complete writs, crafting dailies, or any other quest that requires resources because it is not possible for a non-member to keep enough resources to cover the demands of those crafting quests.
    • Having a tome daily challenge to collect 50 resource items could become undoable for a low level,. new character.
    • Group locations will be complete out of the play because it would be impossible to collect the gear needed to compete in PvP, group PvE (Night Market), or group dungeons.

    It is difficult to tell what is in a DLC. Whether I am looking at a dungeon DLC (which I don't want) or a map DLC (which I might want.)
    I wonder if my free companions are going to no longer be available.
    And my dyed costumes? Are they going to stay dyed?

    Perhaps, if TESO wants people to keep playing new content, the limits on the craft bag and the housing storage should not be locked behind a pay wall. Think seriously on it: If one removes the crafting feature and they remove the furnishing houses how does this change how a non-member will view the game. It changed my view in a very short time. There are many parts of the game I no longer bother with.
    Like Antiquity hunting. Can't store the stuff, placement is limited, and much of it can't be sold.
    Group play or challenging locations that take better gear. Can't make that gear because it takes more ingredients than I can store.
    Crafting/writ quests, again, I cannot store the resources because there are just too many kinds and styles why bother.
    Trying to build a set. This is fine for one or two characters, but forget it if you have 5 or more. Not enough space to store the parts until there is a whole. Why bother with group dungeons. (I don't but why would another player?)

    Again, before going into all the items that can be bought on the challenges, consider where a non-member is going to store those items. The storage on bags, banks, and crafting limits need to be addressed or non-members are going not see the value of the new additions. My opinion.

    I want to preface by saying that I like the new ways of acquiring vampirism or lycanthropy; please don't change those. I love that players will have easy access to these skill lines.

    However, I'd like to suggest a rework to the "rare spawns" that can transmit Sanies Lupinus and Noxiphilic Sanguivoria:
    • Remove them entirely, and allow any non-player werewolf or vampire/bloodfiend enemy to transmit Sanies Lupinus or Noxiphilic Sanguivoria to you.
      • Unknowing players in ESO still try to get infected from those common enemies in places like Malabal Tor or Rivenspire, which never have enemies that can actually infect you.
      • In the singleplayer TES games, you could get infected by any werewolf or vampire enemy.
    • Add Potions of Cure Disease, which will cure Sanies Lupinus or Noxiphilic Sanguivoria, but not Lycanthropy or Vampirism.
      • These would be a convenient way to cure Sanies Lupinus or Noxiphilic Sanguivoria without needing to visit a priest.
      • This would be a more immersive way to cure yourself of an infectious bite without needing to use the Crown Store cure.
      • The "Potion of Cure Common Disease" item from TES III: Morrowind was literally used to cure the beginning stages of vampirism or lycanthropy. If you did not use this item within three days of contracting one of those diseases, you would need to perform a ritual to cure yourself.
    This would be a great way to call back to the lore and gameplay mechanics of the other TES games while reducing frustration. This kind of potion could be sold by merchants or even added to the Alchemy system.

    Werewolf Should be Allowed to Sneak
    Please give us Werewolf Skill Styles (for customizing our fur color), Grimoires/Scribing skills (to fill in the holes in our builds), and Companions (to transform with).

    My friend and I tested this, and we don't think it's an addon issue. We used different addons from the start and performed the same tests. None of the three of us could bind the key to Alt+Any.

    We've already reported this issue in-game, and a friend of mine thinks it might be by Tamriel Tome, as one of Tamriel Tome's confirmed bugs is related to the Alt key.

    I really disagree with this change, moved from console to PC, and now I once again have no way of getting this mount. Which opens up another conversation on account wide unlocks… however is there a way this can be at least added to the new vender that will bring back old items?

    Based on player feedback, we have swapped out the Nix-Ox War Steed mount as it was previously provided as a bonus for owning Morrowind. Instead, you may now acquire the Rubyflare Torchnix where the War Steed was previously available.

    This is very upsetting. I missed out on the Morrowind bonus because I wasn't playing at the time, and I was very eager to get a mount that would otherwise never be for sale again. Either put the Nix-Ox War Steed on the Crown Store or restore it to the Stablemasters; some of us weren't here on 2017 and are being punished for it by being limited access to a very sought-after collectible.

    I agree that's very disappointing. Weren't we just supposed to be moving away from FOMO and time-gated items? Many of us specifically enjoy the "normal"-looking mounts for their immersion, too.

    Pretty sure that was a lie, I haven't seen any evidence of them actually acting upon this sadly.

    It's possible that hopefully the Nix-Ox Warsteed goes up in the bazaar. Funny enough it's one of the few things I'm missing too because Vvardenfell's launch was the only one I ever missed in game as I had to take a few months off of the game due to life events.

It could also be implemented on a per-cosmetic basis, allowing players to hide troublesome cosmetics from everyone, rather than all cosmetics from troublesome people.

    RuneScape implemented this very recently and would be a welcome change for ESO.

    Runescape is quite differnet though. Items have a unique appearance and this just doesn't work when compared to ESO with so many item styles or items that share a style with a crafting motif.

    Attempting to respec abilities while in combat now properly prompts a UI response.
    Based on player feedback, respeccing from the UI is no longer allowed in timed/leaderboard content, with the exception of the Infinite Archive.


    is there plans to remove/limit the use of the ADD-ONS that are already the main reason for these behaviors or is it just going to be an restriction on the GAMES SYSTEM so that the ADD-ONS are mastery to the game and every new player better know it

    players are already doing just that with ADD-ONS but your taking 0 action there while letting it be an reason not to put an helpful tool into the game , and thats an really bad look when toxic players can keep the dev team at bay just by being toxic .... something needs tobe done with ADD-ONS if a in-game tool cant be used why can an ADD-ON ??????????????????????

    Is the addon updated to the current pts patch? What they’re saying is by default without addons, it shouldn’t work, which is what you’re seeing. So for this PTS, in order to get it working again as what you would see in live, best to see if the third party addon that does this for you has been updated.

    Yes, I always check the addon versions before logging into PTS.

    My current tests include:
    1. Confirming all addons are the latest versions
    2. Removing all addons
    3. Switching to another language
    4. Creating a level 1 character account
    5. Creating a level 25 character account
    6. Creating a CP3600 character account
    7. Deleting UserSettings and AddOnSettings.etc.
    8. Various combinations of the above methods

    Additionally, during the first week of PTS, I could still bind ALT+Any to existing characters on the NA server using the same set of addons, but newly created characters could not.

    It is still an add-on issue. You should find out which add-on allows you to do this, and then contact the add-on author. Talking about it here doesn't really help as they won't know.

    My friend and I tested this, and we don't think it's an addon issue. We used different addons from the start and performed the same tests. None of the three of us could bind the key to Alt+Any.

    We've already reported this issue in-game, and a friend of mine thinks it might be by Tamriel Tome, as one of Tamriel Tome's confirmed bugs is related to the Alt key.

    There is a world where it could theoretically be a game issue. But you and your friends do not have the knowledge, ability, or tools to determine that. You need to figure out which add-on lets you do chordrd keybinds, and report it to the add-on author. Further, you have misunderstood the results of your tests: those tests are showing that it is an add-on issue and not a game issue.

    please watch and understand if you are going to restrict UI respec in somewhere you might want to start by removing ADD-ONS that already do the something your restricting your helpful tools from being able to do

    oooooohhhhh wow after getting in and looking just what all this add-on can do im mind blown its in the game at all it can change my build around for me just by locion and i have to do nothing but set it and forget it the add-on will change my gear in any trial / wb / IA / ect ect ( add-on comes pre set with each fight just add in your build ) and the add-on will do the rest for me

    look at all that pre set places you can automatically set for your gear/ CP/ skills to automatically change for you just by having an ADD-ON i just tested it on WB for testing reasons but my god was UI respec really going to do as much as this 1 ADD-ON is

    I've seen that throughout the week the developers have addressed some feedback regarding the new mounts in the stables, but I'm afraid it's not enough (at least for me). While the developers are adding free skins to the game that were once sold for crowns or included in collector's editions or limited-time promotions, there's the best and most classic guar mount in the game, which I'm sure everyone will want. Furthermore, I believe the stable update did a terrible job in terms of lore. Why are these specific mounts available in these particular locations? Some of the animals are completely tied to the stable of a specific location without any logical or lore-based reason!
    Besides, I don't think I'm expressing an unpopular opinion when I say that ordinary mounts without fire in their eyes or roses coming out of their rear ends are worse than mounts with special effects. Moreover, such simple but diverse types of animals are much more lore-friendly, especially when it comes to numerous ordinary merchants. I can still somewhat understand some fire-eyed Kagouti somewhere in Oblivion, but in a simple stable in ordinary Stormhold...

    Based on player feedback, we have swapped out the Nix-Ox War Steed mount as it was previously provided as a bonus for owning Morrowind. Instead, you may now acquire the Rubyflare Torchnix where the War Steed was previously available.

    This is very upsetting. I missed out on the Morrowind bonus because I wasn't playing at the time, and I was very eager to get a mount that would otherwise never be for sale again. Either put the Nix-Ox War Steed on the Crown Store or restore it to the Stablemasters; some of us weren't here on 2017 and are being punished for it by being limited access to a very sought-after collectible.

    The developers said that the Golden Coast Bazaar could become a source of bonuses for various limited-time promotions. I think this is a good solution for such mounts. But the work on the lore and the selection of mounts at the moment is very frustrating for me!

    I love all the new player experience changes, it's the first section I read in patch notes <3

    Do you plan to add a way to collect/vote on new player experience changes?
    Here are a few small ones that I miss for so many years and you cannot fix with addons:
    • Jewelry Hireling
    • Trash Companion gear items
    • "sorcery and brutality" and "prophecy and savagery" Combined with Hybridization, it bloats the UI up
    • Master Writ Vouchers Account Wide

    These might be bigger ones
    • Armory does not store Scribed Ability
    • Account Wide Armory Slots
    • Barber Shop / Dye hair
    • Housing: Armor/Weapon Rack
