Keep in mind Cyrodiil was designed for large scale PVP. It hasn't been that in a while. Rust servers can smoothly support more players. The current pop cap of 80-100 players per faction is pointless on such a large map in a game mode designed for large scale combat. And even with such a low pop cap, it still experiences crippling game-breaking lag when poplocked. I can't even imagine what you were getting out of it prime time.
If small scale is your thing, there is Battlegrounds. If you must have CP Cyrodiil, perhaps they will consider keeping at least one server open on each platform and let players choose what they prefer.

First of all the positive : The Sky looks pretty. Ah yes and another good thing about it; it will end in a few days. Thought i wont play the game at all in these days.
Well now to the rest. I have played this now for almost 1 hour and its the worst pvp experience i had in ages.
It literally was better, when we still had the old servers and the game was a slide show & skills worked like in round based games.
You have NO own sets, no skill morphes, I have leveled Subclassing in the past days FOR NOTHING, because i cant use it now. The scribing skills i farmed together in the past, i cant use.
Youre slow, you have no ressources at most of the time, it feels like youre not doing anything most of the time.
Its a pure numbers game, the bigger zergs wins.
Not the better player, not the better strategy.
Every pvp battle has the same scheme wich i take time to describe now;
Zerg X with 50 people pushes to Keep 1 fighting Zerg Y with 40 people. Zerg Y gets pushed back , till they are close to the Keep 1 where they are able to respawn, then Zerg Y is Pushing back Zerg X to their own Keep 2.
Till it switches arround again and the scheme repeats.
THIS IS IT. Everyone fighting each other with solo target skills but just in big zerges.
This campaign is OP if youre just the type of pvp player who likes to beam people at full health, while they are getting zerged.
On the PS server im playing on EVERYONE in the chat is complaining.
In the psn party im in, EVERYONE is complaining.
I think its even worse.
I dont know if PC players are suffering sooo much off ball groups and proc sets, they rather prefere this Nonsense ( thats the tenor i read a lot in this forum, when vengeance happened first on PC).
But this is horrible, i wont support playing this test further & as a pure pvp player, if this ever becomes a permanent thing, this was the nail in the coffin for me.
Sigh...
This is a test. Think about it from their perspective. IF your boss came to you with a problem and told you to come up with a solution. Would you spend a year on the solution with a "hunch" it might solve the problem but ZERO data backing up that hunch?
Or, would you do whatever you can as quick as possible to get data to verify if this hunch is legit or not?
Myself, as a developer, and I think anyone that follows even the most basic agile practices would do the quicker/not fully implemented solution to prove the concept. Once proven then you put all your time and energy into the whole final solution.
This is a test, proving if their theory is correct. We would be much more upset if they spent a year of work on PvP only to be back at the drawing board (this has happened... 2... 3 times? over the years FWIW).
They have said many times this is a performance test and to not evaluate the overall combat/skill of the test - strictly the server stability.
I don't understand why people can't grasp this. I think vengeance is great.
The playing field is truly leveled and it kinda reminds of the old times at launch, when nobody was level 50 yet and had no clue how to build their character. I think this is what cyrodiil is supposed be: no unkillable small-scale teams dancing around resource towers, no ball groups, just large zergs clashing and sieging.
licenturion wrote: »I see a future where they have both modes

I wouldn't mind those 2 modes then people can choose what they prefer.
No, they wont. Because without reworking skills/sets it is impossible for them to improve overall server stability.
They HAVE to rework the skills/sets/buffs in some capacity (even if it's just a 5% rework on the math behind the skill) to improve server stability.
Reworking the math behind the skills/sets will happen - zero question about that. Now, how do those finished skills/sets look - anything anyone says is just a guess at that point (me included).
Have they reworked ANYTHING? It looks like the exact same vengeance skills as last time. And mid-day US, performance is terrible...lag, skills not firing, slow. Worse than prime time last night with regular Cyro. And yes....boring.
At least start it on the first of the month so we don't lose the prior campaign rewards.

How is our PC players fault that OP plays on dead PVP platform?
No issues on master race EU server. I have to wait 15+ min to enter. Cyrodiil zone chat is full of positive comments.
At big battles/sieges I still get playable 75 fps at worst. Ping from my 3rd world Balkan country is stable.
Big beautiful ball groups - 120 fps locked.
I'm sorry you are so enamoured by a completely broken and deeply unpopular game mode. You are part of a fringe audience that continued to play despite all the problems after almost everyone else who tried it quit -- in terms of the entire playerbase.
Know that you've probably been farming PVE players who barely even try because they are just grinding end of campaign rewards on their alts for transmutes. This hasn't been good PVP for YEARS.
I don't know if Vengeance will ultimately be successful, but I am THRILLED they are trying. I suggest leaving constructive, polite feedback in the appropriate areas so the devs responsible can consider it. I doubt they will wade through threads like this.

Very good points - leaving feedback thats full of emotion and gripes isn't going to get the desired outcome for people.
Cyrodiil will have CP. I'd suspect the next veng test would bring in CP. After that... some sets. If everything is still going good then I see them working on overall balance.
People right now, for some reason and I truly struggle to see how they got there, think this test IS THE NEW CYRO. When, they even say all attention should be on performance and not combat.
So many people are saying that.. that now I'm begining to think I'm the crazy one. I've literally gone back and re-read some of their announcments about the tests and everything just to make sure my understanding is based on what they said lol.
Major_Soulless wrote: »It seems the PS server hates vengeance as much as the player base servers are broken travelling takes forever.
As for Vengeance I'm sorry I know what the developers were aiming for but it's terrible. Not even let us have our riding speed is ridiculous and as for the combat it's just largest group wins if everyone is the same.
3 will beat 1
4 will beat 2
11 will beat 7
20 will beat 13
It doesn't work as a mode you need to offer a variable of some form otherwise it will always be biggest group wins.
Grey host has it's faults but due to the variables it's not always necessarily biggest group wins.

Yeah, it's drastically different than the first go of Vengeance where there was little to no lag throughout the entire week.
I'm more than a bit surprised it's so present this time, given how minimal the increases were in Skill Lines and such.
Why are people using the population bars as a measurement here?
For all we know, 1 bar out of 3 could mean 10,000 of 30,000 players. With no idea of what the cap is, gauging how full or popular the test is by complaining it is only 1 bar is meaningless.

Ah, so you want to say, while everyone have issues logging in etc, they increased the cap to get more players into Cyro? Makes sense.

That's literally the point of this test. To push the population caps in an attempt to stress cyrodil and gain data points. No different than the last time they did this on PC. The population caps are absolutely increased right now in vengeance.
