Will Gold Road owners before this change get something? because some of us bought the expansion for the scribing system.
Hi everyone! We wanted to share some information about an upcoming change to how players can obtain the Scribing system.Thank you!
- Scribing is coming to the base game, free for all players as a claim in the Crown Store, in mid-July with an associated Golden Pursuit! You will see Scribing in the Crown Store on the PTS on Monday as part of this testing.
- We are not selling Scribing in the Crown Store.
- If you miss the associated Golden Pursuit, you will still be able to claim Scribing from the Crown Store, as this is a permanent move for it to the base game.
- There will be a short window from June to July with the launch of Update 46 and the Gold Road zone moving to ESO Plus and the Crown Store where players who do not currently own Scribing will not be able to purchase/gain access to it.

I don't know why people complain and want compensation. This is a good thing for regular players, especially new ones that will experience a new side of ESO. This coming from someone who has bought all chapters instead of using ESO+. Not everyone can afford to buy Gold Road.
Why Scribing before other things? Why so fast?

I've got multiple friends who have returned to test subclassing, only to find out they cannot access scribing. It's pretty insane that you'd introduce a huge combat update to "shake things up" and bring people back, only to lock them out of a crucial core combat system for over a month on their return.
These people aren't sticking around for a month so they can begin their scribing grind, which is a lengthy one with quite a bit of RNG and time gating involved. They're just uninstalling again.

Scribing coming to the basegame is an odd choice considering it hasn't even been out for a year yet. I would've expected Jewelry crafting or Warden to have been made free first. Scribing was the only reason to buy Gold Road
It wasn't the reason at all for me to buy Gold Road. I love the questline (and have played it over and over on many alts) but have zero use for scribing itself (the same way I never had any use for spellcrafting....)
So to be clear, if I do not have ESO+, I still need to purchase Gold Road to use scribing?
Or will I be able to complete everything without ESO+ or Gold Road?
In July, Scribing will be added to Base Game. So as long as you own the Base Game, that is all you will need to use the system going forward.

I'm surprised how many people are complaining about this. It seems pretty childish. I paid for it, enjoyed it, and am happy more people are now going to experience it. We should celebrate the wins when we get them. Thanks ZOS.

I think it's so people don't pay for it only to have it be free two days later. This is actually something I can understand and support. I got scribing when West weald dropped and I fully support it going base game but it'd be pretty scummy to leave it buyable right up until it's free don't you think?
