I like new screen, and some of my characters look good on new Coldharbour background, but I really miss each of previous screens

I also hope that we will get option to select different login screens. I never stopped wanting Greymoor forest screen most of all

I miss original login screens too, which were based on Alliances! When we finally can select background screen for our characters, I want all of them to be included as options, please

My festive Molag Bal feels at home even before he loads into the game (his horse always cracks me up)

I wouldn't even bother to say that I like it or to point out that it's appropriate in a year where ZOS is putting a bit of a spotlight on the MQ and base game if it weren't for the fact that ZOS has shown a tendency in the last few years to pay a bit too much attention to "squeaky wheels."

I'm also loving the return of the 2014-2017 login music.

I agree - let us set it to what we want! In lieu of that, PLEASE remove the depressing Coldharbour scenery! A whole year of that will definitely SUCK!

I'd like the Greymoor character select screen back if I had a choice. It was gorgeous and REALLY well lit. No crazy color filters.
This one:

The orange from Gold Road was absolutely horrid and I HATED seeing it for the past year and this Coldharbour one is not AS bad, but its not good either. Back when I got Master Angler I had to take breaks from Coldharbour frequently as all of the blue on blue on blue on bright light blue was always soooo hard on my eyes. Not a zone I like to go to on purpose and it sucks having to see it as soon as the game loads up.

I was getting tired of looking at sunflowers personally, it would be cool to be able to select your own theme from past chapters,etc.

Tbh I hope that if they do make any changes they keep the dreary and foreboding feeling this one adds.

Every other login screen has been too colorful, too bright, too cheery. Almost CoCoMelon level color spritzes at times.
The game was clearly meant to be directed towards a dark fantasy setting; so even if you all do change it to something else I hope the idea of that doesn't get left behind.

People have disliked the background of the character select screen for the past several years (or perhaps ever since the game began) and ZOS has never changed it based on feedback, so I think it's safe to say this one will be around for awhile.

Besides just preferring darker colors, this screen brings a sense of nostalgia. It reminds me of when I was a new baby Sorcerer and the hard time I had in Coldharbour and fighthing Molag Bal. But I can look at where I am today and see that it was all worth it.

Coldharbour actually turned me off the MQ, it was just a gloomy dark everywhere (with blindingly contrasting blues, and I say this as someone who loves the colour blue).

And I think there was no (?) ambient music? It felt suffocating. And this login screen brings it all back, and I honestly feel awful looking at it.

I liked the cheerful golds of the Gold Road, and the DC login screen was, well, a little boring, but at least it wasn't depressing and suffocating.

Since aesthetics are so subjective and personal, I think if there is any way at all that the devs can manage to let us personalise it, I'd love it if they could.

It's almost like that is one of the points of Coldharbour, it ain't a place you should want to be in.

I still far prefer the area to say the dead lands tho, I'll take more somber blue please

I know the focus is on the visuals of the screen, but I would like new login music as well for this new 'year'.

Or did they fire Brad? Or has he writers block?

As someone who enjoys orchestral music, I always looked forward to the new variations on the main theme and races. It feels cheap that they just slapped on old track there that has been in the selection list for a while.

There is. The song that usually plays there is called Flickering Shadows, it's pretty subtle compared to the usual zone themes.

I thought the daedric zones in ESO were pretty tame honestly. Nowhere near as eerie as something like Quake 1 or even Skyrim's Soul Cairn.

Thanks for posting this. I've been so curious. I actually think it looks pretty cool. But, I also chose the Coldharbour Surreal Estate for the flying wizard tower I built as a love letter to the franchise. I think Coldharbour is such a well done zone and really conveys the Elder Scroll vibe well. It's bright and flashy and magical looking at parts. You can see the magical parts that Cadwell chooses to focus on. But it's also being dark, melancholy, and foreboding. It's simultaneously grounded fantasy and high fantasy. It's just great.

Y'know, I'm kinda on the same boat as you, I hated Coldharbour, Molag Balls and what he represents but, honestly, I liked the new loading screen.

Granted, if we could select one like we can with Intro Music (Settings > Audio > General), it would be an awesome addition.

It's growing on me the more I log-in.
As I said in my first post in this thread, I like the coloring (and also the lighting; it's not so irksome as the brightness of West Weald became over time), it's more just the fact that it's Coldharbour.
But, I *have* spent some time decorating the Surreal Estate Plain, so it's not like I really hate being in Coldharbour all that much.
I'm getting to the point where I'd rather have this, that we are most likely stuck with, anyway, than having to see the desert scene for my DC characters IF (if, if, if; I get it, and got it the first time) they were to go back to the Alliance backgrounds (I don't really mind the EP and AD backgrounds; I just really hate the DC one because my characters aren't desert-loving folk.)
I mostly have EP characters, but DC comprise most of the rest, with I think 3 AD characters.

I loved the Gold Road login screen, it was so pretty and sunny, it helped my depression.

I play ESO to help me unwind and relax and escape Bad Things for a little while so I do a lot of farming in zones that feel nice to be in. Coldharbour is not a place that I want to be, and the start screen sets the mood when logging in.

Please reconsider and give us ANY screen other than Coldharbour or Apocrypha...?

Wanted to highlight an issue on console for people asking a feature to customize login/character screen: sadly, the console asks you what gamer profile is playing after the game is already launched. This creates a situation where the game always launches in its default state and it switches to your preferred setting, like music theme, only after having already started the default music and screen.
If the console version of the game continue to work like this, even having the option to choose your login screen won't free you from seeing Coldharbour or whatever will be the default screen/music. Would feel "buggy".

By the way, I agree that if done well I would welcome the possibility to choose our background screen.

Yes, AD of course. I don't seem to have a copy of the other two, that I vaguely remember. Just an example of what I would prefer. Actually I would prefer a few options, even if somehow related to whatever "season" they were selling. Then everyone would be able to select the background they like best.
