Depressing Character Login Screeen

I would like to change the char login screen. To me it is really ugly. Coldharbour is a place I have HATED since it first came out. I have enough depression today without a game that is a downer.
Is there a way to change it?

Would be awesome If they let us change the character selection screen between new and old ones, like we can do with Main Theme music.

No way to change it, at this time. In the past we have shared this from players to either change the background or change the music, but there are some tech limitations to make that happen currently. But we will share this with the team again just to make sure they know that there is still interest.

The last one was Blinding Yellow. At least this one has better colors.

Yes, please let us change it. Ideally, I would like a free selection of screens per character, too, for aesthetics, character lore or individual points in their stories. But one selection that goes for all characters would be fine, too.

Seeing Coldharbour of all places today after the beautiful Gold Road screen threw me off, and I'd like to change it to something, anything that's not that. Our poor characters escaped for a reason.

While I like the idea coming back to Coldharbour, I have to agree with the others. I would prefer to change it back to a previous one. There were really really great ones in the past, would be awesome to have the ability to choose one of them!

We actually had a discussion about that topic years ago in our guild!

While I enjoyed it in the beginning, I got bored with the brightness of the West Weald background long before the year was up.
I don't mind the color scheme of this new one, but Coldharbour is not a place I want to see every single time I'm on the Character Select screen.
I add my voice to the call for being able to change the background, like we can the theme music.
Please make it happen.

Agreed. What a horrid way to introduce this update, which itself isn't even that bad... besides the equally-horrid map changes.

If we're going back to 'vanilla stuff,' why couldn't we just go back to the original vanilla character select screen that was faction-specific? I don't care about the alliances or the war, but the screens were at least nice, and I'd at least feel some nostalgia from them. This is just awful and depressing.

Same. I was actually quite annoyed when logging in this morning and seeing the Coldharbour background. Wasn't expecting it, didn't like it, don't want it.

Oh well, at least I don't spend much time on that screen.

I don't think it is that bad but I do think it "feels" like ESO 2-3 years post launch. The art work of modern ESO is so much better than back in the day so I think the login screen should showcase the teams awesome abilities. This login screen is kind of bland and doesn't make me get excited or say "wow".

Again, it's not terrible - it's just kind of... there... so to speak.

I'm not crazy about Coldharbour but I'm so happy to be done with that WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY too warmly saturated orange vomit Gold Road login screen. It made all of my characters and their outfits look so ugly.

So you'd rather the depressing log-in we have right now? Because I wasn't saying 'This is the ideal;' I was saying if - IF - we must have vanilla-based stuff, go with the old alliance ones because at least they aren't depressing like Coldharbour and have a nostalgia factor to them.

Preferably, yes, we would have an option to choose. I was not saying that we shouldn't. I was saying that if - IF - we cannot get that, I'd take base game over Coldharbour.

The character menu's background is a color that triggers my migraines. I think I need to stop playing until a change is made.

Just give us the option to go back to the old alliance backgrounds. I don't want to have a migraine attack every time I try to play!!!!

Chiming in that I'd love to be able to select which background/theme music to display on the character select screen from all the ones we've had over the years. Ideally, I'd like to be able to set it differently for each character so they can all have backgrounds that are suitable for them, but I'd also be happy with just being able to set it at the account level.

I know the Gold Road one was a bit polarizing and a lot of people didn't like the orange saturation, but I really liked that one, and I've really liked a few others in the past. Conversely, I hate the Coldharbour background, just because I find the whole Coldharbour aesthetic very depressing. That's not really a criticism of the Coldharbour aesthetic, since it really should be depressing, but it's just not something I want to see all the time.

Except I think you're misunderstanding what I originally wrote, because nowhere did I say anything of the sort that you are disagreeing with.

The word 'If' makes it hypothetical, circumstantial, providing for that given situation. In this case, that situation being If we're going back to 'vanilla stuff...' That does not mean "This is my ideal." That does not mean "This is the best option." That means "In the hypothetical situation in which we can only choose something referencing the base game without choice or options then I would prefer the original alliance backgrounds over the depressing Coldharbour one."

That is the long and short, the beginning and end. No further implications, no further circumstances. Just that.
