Dungeon quests

    I try to note I am "doing the quest" on the PC. I rarely do on the PS5 because it is much more painful to type that in with the PS5 controller.

    They don’t usually slow down anyway.

    There needs to be something that stops progress if all group members are greater than a specific distance apart.

    Personally, I've not had issues with needing the quests when doing dungeons. And I've done 2-4 randoms a day for the last month or so.

    I do greet people when I zone in, and if I need the quest, I will say so.

    People are generally very nice. They have offered to get the secret bosses in dungeons where applicable, for example.

    Of course, you do run into the person who is farming gear and wants to just get it done asap, but those are the exceptions.

    As for a story mode, if you want to take a slow dungeon, you can use the group finder to create a 2-person group and go in with 2 players and 2 companions and you should be able to finish any of the dungeons at your own pace.

    That's the very reason they created the group finder. Make use of it.


    Personally, I like random groups, because while the dungeon story is the same (and I can recite Crypt of Hearts I and II from memory by now, among others), you never know what you are going to get group-wise. Like the other day I kitted out my Arcanist in full healer/buff spec and I ended up in Depths of Malatar with 2 vamps wearing the Ring of the Pale Order, so none of my "when healing an ally" buffs worked on them. :-)

    This thread is specifically about inability to finish the quest. While not ideal, the suggestion is to form a premade group with the goal of completing the quest. That needs to be done ONCE per character. Your suggestion opens up possibilities for hindering the run for 3 other people EVERY time.

    So, a better solution would be to have a separate story mode.

    Edit:
    One more thing to consider. If what you are suggesting is implemented, we will see cases where players that fall behind will be kicked out for slowing down the group. I'm not saying that it will be widespread, but it will be happening. And we definitely do not want this.

    I think not being able to complete quests does not happen frequently enough to warrant such a change. The OP only mentioned it happening to them once.

    As I mentioned in my previous post, I've run a lot of randoms in the last month and I was always able to complete the quest (though I forgot to hand it in once before I left the dungeon), and other people who were in my groups that were on the quest were also able to complete them with no issue.

    Well, except for that one time we went to Liar of Marselook, the tank abandoned us as he zoned in and we got to the end with a group of 3 to find the last boss fight wouldn't start. We ended up getting one of my guildies to help, had to leave the dungeon, disband and reform the group and run the whole thing again, forsaking the random dungeon rewards. But that was not on any player, that was a game bug.

    You can connect your PC's keyboard to your PS. That's what a lot of us do.

    You can connect your PC's keyboard to your PS. That's what a lot of us do.

    I can. And I have one sitting nearby, but it is still a pain to get running (and keep charged) so I normally don't bother. It might help in this case, but I often don't think of it until after it is too late.

    The one I have is also a bit small, making it tougher. The full size wireless ones I have on my PC seem to fail to work for some reason.

    Or simply mark the quest steps as complete when a following step is completed. I think this is very important in Crypt of Hearts 1, where the optional boss is needed for the quest but is often skipped. Or the Alikir one that flakes out all the time!

    It would also be good to allow quests to be turned in late (perhaps by entering the beginning of the dungeon) if we forget that step at the end, especially on the ones that have some nasty extra steps. Though that is another similar, but related issue.
