That's the point of the question my friend! They're not important currently, so is there a way that you would suggest to MAKE them important? To add a fun/reward to it as another form of horizontal progression.
We have the achievement furniture merchants that have unique items, so there already is a reward for doing achievements. Though adding stuff like mounts and cosmetics would be nice, and potentially a good gold sink.
These are definitely not all the same. Crowns cost real-world money. Gems are derived from Crown crates, which cost real world money (and involve gambling).
There are already far too many currencies in this game.
It would only serve to frustrate people who don't have the time or ability to dedicate to achievement hunting. And if you "spend" your points, what happens when you don't have any more and new things are released that you want? Achievements can only be obtained once, after all.
There's also really no point. A number of achieves already unlock things like Mounts, Dyes, Costumes, and so on. That's how it is with most games that have achievements. Yes, they exist largely for bragging rights, and a number of them for unlocking or obtaining additional rewards.

So you don't want to see any reward structure added if they involve a currency? I'm willing to have another currency added if it means I'm able to readily receive mounts & cosmetics outside of the crown store. But to each their own!

Why does it have to be a currency? Instead just tie a certain reward to a certain achievement.
