The beauty of the franchise TES is the open rpg aspect of choice. The removal of classes and the ability to choose if one wants to start over with a new build or expand their current build with new abilities, armor sets such as miiraks set, or other spells like ash tomes and ect.
Please give this poll a review and the post a consideration for a more inclusive new chapter, thank you.

What vocal minority? Look at the poll posted by @ZOS_Kevin “Wanted something else” is dominating the other options.
A lot of people like the skills of the Arcanist, but don’t want them bound to a new class. We’ve made enough new characters over the years while new players still have 6 classes to explore.
The forum as a whole is a minority of the player base and certainly vocal
Also didnt you see all the thread in the last 2 years asking for a new class?
Like it or not a new class WAS requested by the community and zos answered, granted it isnt exactly the class people spoke about but still a class. Maybe you will get what you want next year? Stop being selfish and let people get their requested feature

You're actually being selfish, no one is stopping the class from existing. As sated before the arcanist class would be present as an inclusive skill line of 3.
These 3 skill lines will be available for all players regardless if they choose to start over or continue with their current characters. If you pick a dragonknight but don't pick any of the skills or passives and only pick fighters guild and vampire skills, are you a dragonknight class? If you pick a night blade and only choose the skills and passive from the arcanist what class are you playing?
It's a very simple concept to grasp, inclusiveness is possible to where all players can enjoy this new chapter, both the minority and majory are players. This change doesn't remove the class or option of playing the class from the game it only allow for more players to buy the new chapter and enjoy it. This means it will sell to a much larger demographic than the current.
This is why devs like @ZOS_Kevin ask their palyer base how they feel about new additions to the game. To allow all voices to be heard no matter how minor. This can ensure that the vast majority will be intrested in buying the new content and playing it. The backlash from last year and years prior was voiced to be heard by zos, a game where all players can enjoy content id a game that can make good profit with happy players.

The only problem would be associating class tags to builds, for example, if someone put on a shield, tons of mitigation and healing, how would the game verify that you’re playing a Paladin?
Which to be fair wouldn’t be rocket science, they wouldn’t even need to. Just keep the current damage dealer, healer, tank role selection current and allow players to identify how they please.
Edit: Let’s just start with Arcanist and keep it focused though because that would be the least disruptive and could serve as a base to whether it would be positively received.

Selfish? That’s an interesting choice of words.
Giving EVERYONE the abilities of the class is far from it, I’d wager it’s more selfish to push for exclusion of 6/7 of all active players at any given moment.

How would anyone lose anything other than exclusivity? If everyone has access to the abilities, who loses them?

I mean it is. Because Skyrim's the only one without classes. Just ESO is giving something unique to classes that TES failed to do anything with since TES never did unique spells or abilities.

You loose the possibility to restart the game in new way
Also telling us we could still play exactly the same as if it was a class is a lie. In a group we would be expected to to bring in buff from our class with maybe those pseudo arcanist skill and not to just completly ignore class skill line from the existing class.
Your solution is taking the experience of playing a new class away from those who wanted it and were happy that zos said they would get it. Your solution is taking their happyness away to increase your own
Edit: a better solution would be a class change token like we keep seeing threads about as most party would get what they actually want

I repeat, if these skill lines were Necrom quest-locked instead of class-bound, everybody excited for the class would still be able to make the class by simply unlocking all three skill lines and only using the abilities from those quests.
This would give new and old players the same level of excitement without any sacrifice whatsoever, and actually encourage people to do the quests, a system that is notoriously unrewarding.
Every time you make a new character of any class, since Summerset, we’ve been able to choose a starting zone, and when you skip the tutorial as most players do, it automatically puts you in the latest zone.
Keeping this a class while not providing any new meaningful additions to the other existing six is a massive disrespect to people that are invested in developing the story of their main character throughout the chapter.
I can’t speak to whatever players you run with that have expectations of you based on your class, but my suggestion would be to make better friends; they sound pretty toxic.
Elden Ring and Skyrim are popular has nothing to do with classes but how easy the game is to get into.The_Titan_Tim wrote: »KingArthasMenethil wrote: »Ajaxandriel wrote: »The closed class system sounded not very The Elder Scrolls to begin with.

Interesting perspective, look at the massive success of that game and of current ones like Elden Ring that have classes aswell… they only give you starting equipment and base stat increases and actually determine nothing for your character… you build your character as you play.
Skyrim and Elden Ring some of the only widely viewed 10/10 games we’ve received, both winning Game of the Year amidst decent competition.
