If the buyers didn't support it there should be less so it seems like there must be a huge market ... I just don't get what they're buying...

    Mastic?

Schmackei, is that an undead joke?

Just because you don't like the way something is doesn't necessarily make it wrong...

    • All their personnel and infrastructure to bot and spam is already in place. They've been doing this gig for years. Adding a new game into the mix is easy.
    • The new accounts they set up daily effectively cost them zero due to the methods they use to set them up.
    • Even if not a single TESO player bought from RMTs, we would still be plagued by bots and spammers right now. They won't withdraw from the 'market' until they're certain TESO isn't an investment worth their time.

I'm not saying people aren't buying but rather that it doesn't make all that much difference if they are or not. People buy in other games, so it's worth the comparatively small outgoings required to test the water here...

They have a naive and eager-for-an-edge game population, and an inexperienced and ill-prepared software developer with initially wholly inadequate countermeasures.

Move along in the game and trust that the worst is behind us.

Considering the high prices most things of worth have in these Guild Stores I can easily see what people are spending gold on. So I don't get what has the OP confused.

To be honest with you, this game's economy is a breeding ground for desperation and encourages gold-buying.
you must be joking, most items are dirt cheap in this game excluding legendary vr10 endgame gear and the 4 rare motif books

it is called HUGE gold sinks.

You start the game , you see that it costs you 17/42k for a horse , you buy gold.

You get to the respec shirne , you see that it cost a LOT to do it , you buy gold.

    ...

Honestly , appears quite simple to me.

sitting on anymore than about 20k gold is just saving it for no reasonable reason.
and then housing comes with houses at 250k, with workbench upgrades at 20k each that also serve as storage place for materials xD

still no reason for real money trade, patience and devotion,.

1 respec per 15 levels and adequate bank and inventory space alone costs more than what most players can make

I should be surprised and disgusted that some people here are defending gold buying (hell, why not pay people to play the game for you? Cut out the 'hard work' entirely) but unfortunately the mentality is all too common in general.

    They're buying time and effort.

They want the cool stuff, but they don't want to spend their time or effort on obtaining them so they're willing to spend their real money for the time and effort of someone else, someone who is willing to sell their time and effort in exchange for real money.

Sadly you are thinking like blue collar working class people o.o oh wait never mind cause you are lol. The people who buy gold have a lot of real wealth and don't miss the pittance spent entertaining themselves in a game. You see muti-boxers spending money on 3 or 4 accounts without a care for what it costs. The market is here because there are people who can toss money at it without hurting their networth
