Now I don't actually go for Emperor, especially since I work about 50 hours a week so there's literally no chance of me every getting it, but this is proof of the very flawed Emperor system.

I was coordinating with two groups since the campaign swapped, and was in every fight. Saw the maybe a dozen players that were on at the moment on my side, and never once saw the person that somehow has 3-4x the AP I have, in the second slot. The person gained 50,000AP in the time I gained about 8k AP. How do they do this when he wasn't in a single battle? Certainly not repairing keeps since the pugs I was coordinating with did that.

Obviously we know how to gain that much AP when not participating in legitimate fights, it's just milking your own guild members in a defensive location. Pretty easy to do on resources and outpost near the front lines. Do it right, it keeps a battle marker from appearing on the map and won't attract any other players.

Unfortunately I do not have a solution to this issue. I have thought of entire reworks to the Emperor system, which is sorely needed, but I don't think any of them would solve this.

It is very likely that once the player with 3-4x the amount of AP as the next highest person will have their guildmates swap once they can PvDoor the Emp keeps, in the late hours of the night.

Just a rant.

Several ways that can be done, the most obvious to me is saving activating a Midyear Mayhem scroll, logging off and then using that character right on reset + handing over all the AP-earning quests at once. You can also earn a lot of AP solo defending keeps with oils and bouncing off the keep before they get to you. I've regularly had 20k-50k ticks just doing that. I think there's a timer after like 5 minutes where if nobody on your team dies, you get a d-tick. On top of that, an active scroll earns you about 4k AP for each solo kill so that can be very easy to earn.

I know how to have substantial AP gain. It is rare when it’s not freely given.

It is highly likely that this player did save the scroll boon. However the substantial rate of gain was beyond the two hour limit.

And the player clearly didn’t solo defend anything that was under siege as I was at each AD battle last night. The population was far too low to have multiple battles at the same time. And yes I’ve killed up to two dozen players solo defending, with oils, it’s a great AP boost but also very rare to accomplish since most players know how to not die to oils.

The player likely was somewhere to gain a defense bonus. But did not activate any battle icon, which requires three players deaths, nor lit any keep. So the most plausible conclusion is that this player just had a couple guild members repeatedly suicide themselves against this player multiple times. Somewhere where they can get the defense tick without losing enemy player health percentage to NPCs.

Player AP value is based on a few factors, but the biggest one is their PvP rank. How much damage you do to the player percentage wise... etc etc. Under 50, the highest you can reach that I've ever seen is Captain.

People regularly go inside delves in Cyrodiil to fight the delve boss.. after the boss is defeated a buff will be placed on you.. the blessing of war. That gives you 20% more AP for 1 hour.

Many players who work for emp don't really fight that much.. they're too busy repping.. I call them janitor emps. Most likely that person was busy repping trikeeps. That's why you didn't see him around. Not that I'm criticizing the person.. I mean if you want to work on becoming emp.. you gotta mop the floor first

Making an emp push is not fun. It can be quite competitive if another person has the same agenda. Oh and make sure you're in a guild that supports you.. that's important.

Yeah, the one time I actually pushed for emp, Fucia was ahead of me and apparently needed less sleep than me... Ended up 2nd on the boards that campaign... One of these days...

I dunno, I *** up AP better than most and I’ve literally never had an issue beating even intentionally boosting folks. Generally speaking, you aren’t taking advantage of small gains like consistent delve buff, powered weapons for repairing during down time, or a competent enough solo player to reliably get kills.

And when I say repairing, I don’t mean just repairing all the time - last time I checked for wearing a couple of crafted + healing done sets, with delve buff, it’s somewhere around 40k AP/h assuming you have things to repair and that volume went down with resource towers being immune to damage. That’s with just repairing and can easily be beaten just by robust soloing. Basically, in off-hours you exist to watch the map when you emp push in a lower pop campaign because you need to be part of every single tick. If you miss out on a tick, you lost your opportunity. Otherwise, in lower volume hours essentially what I do is pop around to all defendable keeps, leech O ticks, do solo defenses because I’m the only one showing up at Drake or something, and then repair when there isn’t a clear battle on the map or something the zone pug leaders are advocating for. Pretty reliably I make 80-100k AP/h in nonvet when I’m actually emp pushing.

That said, if you’re on the advantaged team, someone keeps their mid year buff, you’re just borked.

Jumped into u50 last Friday and had some really good fights. Ep trying to dethrone against a DC emp and a group of pretty good players. Got our backsides handed to us a couple of times until we got a few more in, then hard fight around the emp ring to finally dethrone. It really was a little throwback to 2017...
