My wife is 1000+CP and has never done a single day of PvP. Heck she is not even good enough to do anything hard. But she enjoyed collecting stuff amd housing and questing. And this weekend, she was furious over how she is being forced to do quest in a zone where she can't go 10 meters without being killed by random players. Low lvl/ max lvl all alike.
Last IC event you could get the tickets from Killing Bosses...what changed this year? Forcing those who can't quest in IC to buy it from crown store?

I can imagine why that lowbie wrote what he wrote. Not trying to justify his behaviour but we have to look past what he wrote and understand why he wrote.

Are you sure it's viable for every alliance? From my experience it's doable on EP side. I haven't checked it on AD side but it's not possible at DC exit because the mobs are too far. You also have to wait a long time till they respawn.

EP too here, and no other alliance characters to check. Are mobs too far for DC even for snipe? That's unfortunate. Even so, when one hates IC to that degree it may be viable to roll an EP character for the sole purpose of farming tickets.

I don't have stam PvP toons, so I can't really tell about snipe but frags didn't work. Maybe it's a LoS thing because the animation started and immediately got interrupted.

It is totally possible for a DC character. I've been doing this since the event started last Thursday using Focused aim on the enemy nearby.

If I was that guy that whispered I'd see it as an opportunity to cash in the stones I had remaining in the bank. Been playing in the Imperial City for years and I know if I died once I'll probably die again. Best to make a profit now before heading out since nothing is worse than dying, respawning, and then dying again. Difference between losing 50% of your stones and 75%, which can be massive.

Looks like LOS or the mob is barely reachable and gets out of range. Snipe can hit as far as 35-40 meters depending on morph, don't know if there is anything for magicka with that range

It's normal. It's a problem that is partially Zenimax's, for making events PVP only, people get way too frustrated when another player ruins their progression and overall experience in the game. You don't know how this dude felt when you smacked all the life out of him. That feeling made him toxic to the point he sent you these messages. There is nothing special about this. He or she is totally not only one that toxic, myself included.

These people should definitely be not banned for toxicity. If it ever should be addressed, banning is definitely not the way to go.

In your case you just should go on and do your thing, ignoring people that cause you bad feelings as you caused them the same or even worse.

Note: Use block/mute/ignore functionality. It's specifically made for loose cupcakes like you.

This is not normal and in no way justified by a pvp event. Salty tells in pvp is normal. Wishing death on someone’s family because you died in a game isn’t a normal hate tell and is a hugely oversized and inappropriate reaction. This is someone who needs to control their emotions and reactions, and is in no way the fault of Zeni or the person who killed his toon.

Don’t try to justify this or blame the event.

Nothing, most players are fortunately aware that they're playing a game and are not severely disturbed ;)

No it's not the event it's the structure of IC. It promotes banditry instead of competitive sport. If people wanted Tel Var it would probably make more sense to avoid all PvP and just focus on PvE and the Tel Var multiplier. But instead people want to be bandits.

I bet it happens less in Cyrodiil, which promotes rules exploitation instead with AP boosting and now, apparently, mass logging out to increase faction score right before score calculation. https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/542509/can-we-talk-about-dc-exploiting-the-low-pop-bonus#latest

Problem is if they banned all people like that Cyro and IC would be empty.

So? That just makes room for non-toxic people to get into the game instead of them leaving right away because of all the toxic people in it.

It's easy to duo normal ICP and get your tickets that way. You and your wife can just go in an do that dungeon together. Also there are double drops during the event so its a very good deal.

I mean, I guess you'd have to if you're playing with a friend, but if not, I'd turn off whispers. That's just me, though.

But I agree that that player's comments were ridiculous and crossed a line.

Why should someone get banned for saying something negative towards you? The moment you log onto the internet you should know it's a diverse place full of bad and good people. The internet isn't a safespace.

I play PvP from time to time in Cyrodiil with a group, so I am not, as I once was, just opposed to PvP. That being said, when tickets are up for grabs and motif pages and the ONLY place to do them is in a PvP area where most are farming telvar it seems more than a little unfair. I make sure I don't carry any telvar and try to just do one quest a day. I am NOT having a good time. I am NOT doing what I do in any other "event" (get the most I can to sell to others or donate to guildies). This particular "event" is set up for telvar farmers. I hate it and wish I didn't give a damn and could just not be online at all during it. This *forces* people who want event tickets and benefits to participate in something where they have no chance to really play. ZoS needs to set up something else. The quests are actually good fun and would be enjoyable and challenging enough without all the ganking going on. I understand why someone [snip] at you. While not wanting to wish anyone real life harm, I too have felt like cursing out gankers. Now I just stand there and let them kill me. They won't get any telvar, so screw them.

To all of you who are saying run WGT...you don't get pages that way and boxes and the like. There are benefits (sadly) to running the events as they are intended. Sops to non-pvp players are insulting.

The first rule for responding to a dumb whisper in PvP is not to reply.

The second rule for responding to a dumb whisper in PvP read and follow the first rule.

More times than not, they will come back with more stupid stuff in an attempt to get you all worked up. The SS provided in the OP is just someone who is not very bright, as that is the worst rage/hate whispering I have ever seen in PvP.

By not responding, they are the ones likely to get all worked up, and their subsequent attempts can become rather entertaining.

I honestly think we need to stop justifying this type of behavior.

In the time I've played ESO i've seen people get increasingly toxic and you shouldn't take abuse for playing a game.

He was completely out of line and wishing death on your family is disgusting behavior.

This is starting to become a normal thing too, I don't even say Hi in group chat because mentally ill people use it to send hate whispers even for peacefully leaving a dungeon.

Give this type of behavior a year or so more and this community will turn into LoL or Call of Duty. Can't wait.

I've seen very few toxic people. I've seen stupid comments, I've seen people loose their minds over those comments. Personally, in my opinion (for what it's worth) overreacting to some stupid comment is more toxic then the comment itself. [snip]

I see that too when I venture into PVP land and actually kill an enemy player. If it bothers you only suggestion I have is to go to OFFLINE mode so they cannot whisper you. You can still group with friends and they can see your Chat and vice versa.

There are a lot of people in PVP (especially PVP) that just hate it when they lose to another and have to post something offensive and ugly. I often wonder how those that do this can live in the real world.

But yeah, I know, it's crazy what some post and they usually will not get any ban at all. Also, the IGNORE list works well but is limited to 100 so choose wisely who you ignore.

Of course it will if people will react to every pointless piece of nonsense somebody says.
Nowadays everything is "hurtful" and "offensive" and everybody cares what others say as if nobody was called nasty names in school. Every no-one's tweet is an "uproar in social media", every salty message is a threat and a hate crime.
Chill, don't feed the trolls and stop caring about stuff that's not worth caring about. Especially some empty words. "Justifying" this would be too much of an honor.

Note, I'm not saying you cannot be hurt by what someone says. I'm saying there's too much importance given to everything others say.

Nooooo no no no, you need to reply, and you need to be as nice and as politically correct as you can, playing innocent, it leaves you with hilarious conversations you can share with your guildies, one of our running jokes, is calling people "small idiot" because of one guy in cyro hate whispered me calling me a cheater xd the conversation was like this:
    Him: "you are cheating"
    Him: "l2p"
Me: "have a nice day dear"
    Him: "no"
Me: "then don't have a nice day, fine, your choice"
Him: "you are small idiot, face report"

Then me and guildies proceeded to laugh at this conversation for half an hour with comments like "when you mom tells you to tune down the swearing".

I even have a character named after the occasion, "small idiot", it was a very entertaining encounter.

In another conversation I was whispered in IC that I interrupted a duel (with some additional swear words) then I proceeded to explain him that I don't understand why I shouldn't attack him in PvP zone. He went quite pretty quick, no extra gold entertainment there this time. Anyway, ye, be polite, be nice, and it becomes really funny. And if it won't, the chances for the report to ban them will go sky high :D
