This update destroyed my vampires :/ They used to look very cool at stage 4 (it was the only reason why they were vampires, for the looks). Now they stay at stage 1 and look lame (and have cost increase to ordinary abilities on top of that) :| And when they enter stealth, they don't have cool visual of liquid darkness surrounding their body (it was part of Dark Stalker passive) :'(

My werewolves also don't have any wish to transform after this update.
Also, Justice system for vampires and werewolves was very bad decision.

Death Hound mount and pet were a waste of money - especially in case of mount, the voice effects are so bad that I can't use this mount :s
Pet does nothing except for annoying barking, which also doesn't sound cool. I liked the look on the picture and wanted this pet for my specific character, but it turned out to be no match for her little spider pet. I know that sound designers in ESO are capable of creating very cool sounds (there are plenty of awesome creatures/mounts with awesome sounds in game), so Death Hounds were real disappointment for me :o

I love the look of some overland places in new zone, especially snowy areas.
Many new additions to behaviour of wild life there, interesting to observe :) And new example of excellent sound design - a howl of a Durzog. They are now my favourite wild life in new chapter, and I rarely start a fight with them (only if they guard some chest etc.)

    https://youtu.be/3X4_MAgWPb0

This is perfect. This is the howl which says "I am the hound of death, and I'm on the hunt!", and it feels like misplaced sound files which should have belonged to the mount <3 A canine-based mount with this howl would be the coolest canine mount in game (just need to make it a bit louder than the Durzog's howl).

There are Gloomspore and Nightfall mount-based mobs in new zones. But even though they look cool, they have voices of ordinary animals :/ They don't feel like uncanny creatures - they are just simple animals in interesting costumes. When I saw Vampiric (Nightfall) sabre cat mob, I approached with high interest - what sound will this creature surprise me with? ...Oh, it's just a simple senche mob with a cool look :(

Lots of broken, buggy content that still feels rushed out of the gate. Certain things not spawning, inconsistency of abilities found all over the place, as well as performance tanking at launch - this could've been way better.

Rate it based on what exactly? I'd like to give it a big fat "0" due to ZOS's failure to convince me to even purchase it.

I haven't progressed very far yet, but have liked what I've seen thus far including the graphics, quests, world boss encounter, the new house in Solitude and Antiquities. I was also very happy with the physical collector's edition. There's still plenty of time to come across issues but I haven't had any yet and can only score on the basis of my experience to date.

I cannot rate this more than a 5.

My general attitude towards Greymoor is one of disappointment, irrespective of the launch problems.

The writing and the story are poor, without giving away any spoilers it’s very similar to the last expansion.

Wayshrine placement is terrible if you want to do the northern Harrowstorms, I can see player participation dropping off sharply, the same problem with the dragons in Northern Elsweyr. Also, the rewards are not worth the time, there is a reason the dragons in southern Elsweyr are still popular. Increasing grind to make up for a lack of content never works.

Last time I looked, Blackreach was a creepy and dark place, not a technicolour fun palace…Huge mistake to split the map up to such a degree, IMO. People want more of Skyrim, not a bloody cave.

Vampire rework has not gone down well, to put it mildly.

The whole ‘chapter’ just feels small. It’s DLC sized. I do think this ‘year of’ thing they do now does the story no favours.

I’ll stop now, I’ll just say slapping a filter over everything does not make something ‘dark’ and ‘gothic’, it just makes me turn the colour saturation up on my Nvidia settings.”

It’s also quite buggy. Unkillable draugr (you literally cannot hit them), voices going missing, no lip-synching, etc. Oh, and bugged Harrowstorms are quite common too.

I know these are interesting times but AAA publisher and all that...
So they raised the floor and lowered the ceiling. Except the ceiling has spikes in it now and the floor is also lava.

    6 or 7 out of 10.

    Very Good:
    * overland environment is 10/10, love city of Solitude!

    Good:
    * Harrowstorms are fine (except location and frequency)
    * I liked the prelude dungeons (unhallowed, icereach) and quest that preceeded Greymoor
    * New healing set very much fits warden ice and healing theme

    Not so good:
    * Compared to other xpax storyline predictable and lacking inspiration, conversations lack humour (Lyris isn't very funny) and most personalities depth. I miss characters like Abnur. ZOS must have fired the guy that wrote all the witty conversations
    * Underground part a bit messy, with so many ppl around it never gave any sense of suspense
    * Main storyline very easy, bosses hardly harder than average delve boss (just more hp). In my opinion a bit more content could have been solo (like main harborage storyline) instead of accessible for all. Not very immersive to have 10 ppl running arund and killing boss in 2 seconds when doing some finale
    * Wayshrines could have been placed a bit more user friendly

    Bad:
    * Locations and spawning of HS (I waited more than an hour for some, unacceptable)
    * Lots of bugs like untargetable draugr, bugged quests

Must say I feel no desire to immediately play through it again with one of my other characters
For the rest: I am not interested in playing vampires or werewolves so that part is lost on me

Pros: Game looks great and antiquities is interesting.

Cons: The story is the worst overall of the four chapters, very predictable.
A ton of bugs introduced, and a ton of bugs still not addressed.
Harrowstorm implication seems unfinished in terms of functionality and rewards.

    Overall a very “meh” chapter.

My biggest issue is that the new trails sets are all garbage.
Its nice to have mythics but the process of getting them is pretty boring.
When it comes to overland Western Skyrim is a bit bland but Blackreach looks pretty nice.
Questing is still way too easy, its hard not to fall asleep sometimes.
I dropped vamp because my sustain was terrible while soloing world bosses for example, I cannot really say anything about those changes other than I dont like the cost increase.
Havent tried pvp yet after the update, its probably still unresponsive in the evening.

Probably worst chapter so far. 1.No major performance fixes, more bugs than I have ever encountered so far, spanning through all activities, and going unfixed for weeks. Problems with access to the chapter itself. 2. vampire revamp caused most playstyles to cure vamps, people angry with maelstrom changes too. 3. main quest have too many similarities to main quest of previous chapters, big gender disbalance of npc's questgivers, and most quests are either copies from previous zones, or unmemorable. Also, no overall sense of 'Dark heart', when playing trough the chapter. 4. Wayshrines are not conveniently located, hunting harrowstorms is a pain, without good rewards. Even vampiric furniture, is almost the same as alinor one. Also, why devs tease people, saying, they added new furniture paintings, when in reality, we all know, what are the chances to get one (same as vvardenfell ones, that are nearly impossible to find)
Good things are landscape, it is gorgeous, quick fix of antiquity system, also, new models for furniture there. I also found 2 really good quests.

"Big gender disbalance of npc's questgivers ..."

Uh, what? Not enough guys? Not enough ladies?

There is a very noticeable preponderance of female NPCs across all quest content in Greymoor. When I took count at the end of the main quest where notable side quest NPCs gather for a great hurrah (as was the case in all other chapters, too), I counted around 10 men and 18 women - and 2 of the men were Jorunn and his son who showed up literally just a moment before. So this is not one of those "uh any woman is too much for you guys" moments, there are nearly twice as many women as men around.

One might think that this is somehow supposed to correct a previous gender imbalance, but I have never noticed one in any of ESO's content. Admittedly I didn't take count before, but would people really say that there has been a shortage of women in Tamriel until now?
Even Orsinium, with all its patriarchal politics, has at least as many important women as men just in the main quest (Eveli, Alga, Solgra, etc.), and many more in the side quests.

At least from my impression, Greymoor has taken a 6-year history of egalitarian representation in ESO and opted for something kind of revanchist, and I don't know why. It feels jarring compared to the rest of the game.

Beautiful surroundings, the Antiquities system is better-done than other grinds, Skyrim nostalgia galore, but also: paper thin, predictable stories, a definite decrease in the quality of voice acting, Harrowstorms are annoying. Fenn is the only memorable character from this chapter.

The antiquity system seems ok, but considering it is the prime selling point of Greymoor, I find it underwhelming.

New gameplay features of ESO chapters
    Morrowind: Warden class (and Battlegrounds)
Summerset: Psijic guild (and Jewelery crafting)
    Elsweyr: Necromancer class (and Dragons)
Greymoor: Antiquity system (Vampire/WW redesign is part of the base game)

Former chapters brought gameplay features which changed people's gameplay.
Greymoor offers a huge grind - to get only SIX mythic items to change the gameplay?
Sorry, but for me there is not enough new gameplay in a full-priced chapter.

It looks pretty and I like antiquities. Everything else is either meh or really not good. Flat story, bad quests, broken harrowstorms, bad placement of wayshrines, bug ridden, very few places you can enter, very few lootable containers, dropchances for recipes are the worst, vampire rework is bad, and it overall seems very unfinished, unpolished and untested.

    Hmmm

    Greymoor:
Art = 8 (Good, but reduced due to some poor quality textures and LOD problems)
Music = 7 (OK, not my favorite)
World/Zone = 7 (OK, too many locked doors, overland feels small, Blackreach is good and feels large)
    Quests/Story = 8 (Good, reduced for predictability)
Antiquities = 8 (Good, but some lead placement decisions should have been reconsidered)
Public dungeons/delves = 9 (Real good, with Nchuthnkarst > Labyrinthian)
    Trial = n/a

    Update 26:
Vampire = 5 (Meh, would not use due to health concerns)
Quality = 3 (Bad. Includes launch problems and the fact that none of this is going to get fixed until the end of the month)
Performance = 7 (OK. Bugs aside, all overland, delve, and public dungeon I tried is OK, including combat, loading screens have reduced time, FPS is the same, latency is the same or slightly better.)

    __________________________Backstories:_________________________

Ras Kalik the Vestige, a renown Redguard warrior; He has been blessed to save Tamriel from Molag Bal’s destructive Planemeld while reuniting the Five Companions. His further accomplishments after defeating Molag Bal, has been to stop the destruction of Morrowind, the Clockwork City, return order to the isle of Summerset and create a new king in Wrothgar and a queen in Elsywer. These events have made him a living legend and continue to lead him into new adventures throughout Tamriel, as well as into the hearts of many ladies including the Elf Queen, Aryenn. Over many years of adventurous travels, Ras Kalik had become a loner, until he re-visited his homeland of Alik'r.

Alik'r and it's cities were overrun by the undead Ra-Netu and therefore he made an allegiance with Alik'r's own Ash'abah tribe. These Ash'abah with his help, cleansed the city of Sentinel in Alik'r desert and it's surrounding areas of the undead brought to life by the Withered Hand. After rescuing Sentinel from the undead zombies, King Fahara’jad’s personal bodyguard the Goliath of Hammerfell, who was given this name by Imperials in the region; was asked to assist the tribe after learning of the defeat of the Withered Hand to the Ash'abah. Kalik promised Goliath he would task him with fighting living enemies on the battlefield if he so desired. Goliath being a Yokudan warrior wields a massive sword in respect to the Ansei, a gift given by the Imperial, Cinan Tharn. Not many soldiers are able to wield double two handed weapons, but Goliath loves to get up and personal in a fight, so he also carries a giant maul, both weapons laced with magical flames.

Jux Blackheart is a master thief that masquerades as a Bard at the Sisters of the Sands inn, with his younger sidekick Lucky Hunch for pilfering and gambling during this time. Jux was known to infiltrate any towns bank vault he came across and even delved into Ayelid ruins without detection. Kalik can vividly recall the night he met the famed thief. Jux found himself rummaging thru a slightly inebriated Kalik’s pocket for too long, on a full-mooned night and because of his greed and the glimmer of his golden armor in the moonlight. He lost his left pinky fingertip as a lesson! But in return, he gained a new friend, as it was his first time since a child being caught red-handed...

Upon arrival back in the Alik'r after many moons of adventuring, Ras Kalik ventures to Bergama. Visiting The Winking Jackal, he runs into Jux Blackheart, who introduces him to the coin game Crowns vs Forebearers (Heads vs Tails) and Golden Dwemer (RBG).... Jux constantly takes gold from the unfortunate thru theft or gambling, his biggest gambling victim is actually his partner in crime known as Lucky Hunch the Gambler. Lucky doesn't mind losing any gold coins to Jux... as Jux saved him from Altmer slavers in Summerset, by stealing a key and sending him on a boat to the mainland years prior. Lucky spent years in slavery with Khajiits in Summerset and picked up the art of subterfuge, using illusion magic disguises and stealing there.

Kaotik Von’Daemon an outcast, and a half-caste between a Breton mother and a Redguard father. Kaotik become a pariah due to his conjuration of Daedra pets. He was taught healing magic during his childhood years by his Breton mother. His father due to Redguard customs exiled him from the desert, sending him by wagon caravan to be a soldier in the war in Cyrodiil. He happened to meet Kalik while traveling from Alik'r, during this long caravan ride the caravan he was in was ambushed in Bangkorai by a group of bandits. Kalik by chance was also traveling thru this area on his Auridon Warhorse (which was bestowed to him by his friend, Darien Gautier). During this ambush, Kalik was able to rescue five hostages from the bandits. Kaotik was the first rescued, and Ras Kalik also recruited him to be in the Ash'abah tribe. These core Ash'abah tribesmen may never be seen together in travel as they partake in their own adventures but they always know what each other is doing; as they frequent a hideout in northern Bankorai. Their hideout an old Orc castle ruin, is kept watch by Nuzhimeh and she passes messages written between them, and frequently they also enjoy her company and her bed.

The other men rescued were a Dunmer banker, an Imperial mercenary and two other soldiers, an Imperial and a Breton Knight, stating proudly he was an Akavir descendent. One of the Imperials, Cinan, claimed to be related to Abnur Tharn the Battlemage of the Imperial Elder Council (One of Ras Kalik's mentors in the Five Companions). Cinan Tharn was really Abnur's drunkard treasure hunting illegitimate son. He was caught smuggling artifacts out of the Ayleid ruins in Cyrodiil and the elder of the two Imperials was Tyrus Septim a retired Imperial navy battle-mage (now a Lycan mercenary living in the city of Rimmen) and guard to the Tharn family. As much as Abnur Tharn hated his half-sister Euraxia, he dislikes his bas†ard son Cinan more. Tyrus now a ruffian and privateer had been paid by Abnur Tharn to watch over Cinan as much as possible. Cinan Tharn a drunkard, loves to drink at least a quarter barrel of Nord mead before he raids various delves and dungeons for relics to sell on the black market. Cinan also plans to one day, run an illegal gambling ring... which he thinks will net him more gold for his wares.

The Dunmer captive shackled to the Imperials looked familiar to Kalik from his time in Morrowind.... and he recognized him as Tythis Andromo a House Telvanni slave-owner and banker from Vvardenfell. During a rough interrogation to Tythis, Ras Kalik learnt why the bandits accosted him. The racist Dunmer was providing slaves as soldiers for the Three Banner War. The bandits were trying to negotiate a lucrative ransom for Andromo and the Imperials.... Kalik did not need any of this gold and he could never set Tythis free as he did with the two Imperial soldiers. His past involvement with slavery and war crimes, made Kalik's blood boil. He chose not to execute Tythis, as he figured the worse punishment for this former rich and opulent slave owner, is to now be an imprisoned servant for Ras Kalik and the tribe.

Herzog Zwei the Genesis a reknown Imperial/Akavirri battle-mage. His roots going back to Akavir through his mother’s bloodline. (His mother is descended from the Akaviri, through Versidue-Shae, and his Imperial father met her in Hakoshae, while traveling) Herzog earned the nickname "the Genesis" from his father as a child, as he was his mother's first born child, and last, as she tragically died in child-birth.

Herzog was seeking to purchase an artifact from Cinan Tharn, before their capture and was meeting Tyrus while in Rimmen, who introduced him to Cinan. This artifact being the Ayelid artifact; the sword Sinweaver. After their rescue and the exchange of gold to Cinan for the sword he decided to slip away before Ras Kalik could question who he was, and why the Akavir descendant really wanted that sword. Herzog was headed to Nagastani — An Ayleid ruin in eastern Cyrodiil. He had read in scrolls that the Sword would give him magical powers to meet his mothers spirit, if he performed an Ayleid ritual at an old shrine hidden there. Equipped with the artifact sword, he was off to start his own adventure but Ras Kalik, did indeed notice the sword however and instead sent a letter to Jux Blackheart (whom also was interested in Ayleid treasures), to attempt to find Herzog and acquire the sword. (*Azani Blackheart in Elder Scroll's Oblivion is Jux's descendant some 747 years later)

And so the Redguard, Imperial and Akaviri men parted ways ... While Ras Kalik went off to Elsweyr to encounter the latest threat to Tamriel, with Abnur Tharn and Sai Sahan - - DRAGONS!! Little did Ras Kalik know a few people were awaiting him in Senchal besides Sai. A necromancer survived his attack on the Withered Hand, while in Alik'r. The necromancer known as Auriek Siet'ka is also following him to the land of the Khajiits and Cacique the Sage of Ius a Shaman mystic who has become attuned spiritually with Tu'whacca (a Redguard God) and Ius (the Animal God), after being burned severely by the escaped dragons in Elsywer, is awaiting his arrival also. Aurik is a soldier of the Daggerfall Covenant that was introduced to necromancy while in the military, even though this magicka art is not spoken of openly by most of the Military leaders. He came to Alik'r and worked with the Withered Hand before Ras Kalik intervened on their plans. After the defeat of the Withered Hand, he aligned with the Worm Cult, and is constantly adapting and perfecting his necromantic arts.

After his journey to Rimmen, Kalik heads south to Senchal, in the southern regions of Elyswer. This new adventure will also put him on a path to meet a strange Redguard man. The stranger which was infected with an untreated Peyrite disease and also was the exiled from the Order of the New Moon cult, due to his sickness. He originally joined the cult to worship Laatvulon, the green dragon, mistakenly thinking it was the Daedric prince Peyrite. This confused and suffering cultist is known as Tsar al-Bomba and he is on a path to spread the disease. He was originally infected in Orccrest while recruiting members there. Can Ras Kalik and the shaman Cacique cure this poor soul, only time will tell. Little does Tsar al-Bomba know, that his infection is tied to Vampirism, and eventually the desire for blood will take over his mind. Senchal also offers Kalik his latest love interest... Aeliah. Whom he fondly led thru battles with the Dragonguard.

After the trek thru the heat, tropical and desert climate of Northern and Southern Elyswer, Ras Kalik heads north to the cold mountain range of Skyrim. His companion friend Lyris beckons for him with a letter sent by crow...

Movárth Piquine - a former vampire hunter (now infected), within the Fighter's Guild (and a secretive necromancer) was in Skyrim working with the Morthaal Guard. On a patrol mission he was caught in Frewien's ice curse outside of Morthaal with the frozen undead. Movárth's vampiric infection kept him from becoming an undead minion to the curse. He was able to use necromantic ice-magic to encase himself safely until he was freed with Freiwen, when the Vestige Ras Kalik broke the curse.

Uri Ice-Heart - brother of Urfon Ice-Heart. The twin sons of Atli and Oljourn Ice-Heart. The Ice-Heart family are originally from Markarth but now reside on the Jerall Mountain range near Cyrodiil, with their younger sister Araki. The twins had joined the Winterborn Reachmen while living in Markarth. Urfon pushed west to Orsinium with the Winterborn Clan, leaving his family behind. Uri stayed behind with his parents and sister to live in the family cabin for safety, avoiding the Vampire plague infiltrating the Reach. After news reaches him and he hears of Urfon's death... Uri leaves and heads home and is seeking vengeance. Meanwhile, his sister has also moved on to Windhelm to join the Fighter's guild. He will visit his sister, once before going to seek vengeance and she will craft him armor mixed with ice, called Stalhrim armor. Uri fearing death, after his brother's passing, falls victim to the convincing talk of Movárth at a Nordic tavern, and will also becomes a vampire.

    Definitely my least favorite chapter.

I think the vampire changes are bad design.
I hate antiquities. Way too grindy and feels jarringly like a mobile game.
    Absolute abundance of bugs/problems.
No noticeable performance increase and actual performance decrease in some aspects.

The new trial is fun, but I think it needs to be harder.

To put things in a bigger perspective, this patch I've quit pvp and am only playing older content (trials) in pve. That's how low quality this chapter and update has been.

5 because new zones are well designed (blackreach is awesome) and the antiquity system provide some very good furnishing but harrowstorms are not funny, too much riding for 15 seconds of fight and a poor reward, the new trial is meh (compared to the best ones like vmol vhof vcr)

I am impressed most with how vampire, scrying, and mythic items kept things interesting enough for me to make a new character.

I think that this reads a whole lot more into things than is necessary. Content does not need to be homogeneous. It just needs to average out that way over the larger picture.
The question is what one considers the "larger picture". Personally I'd consider a chapter to be a sufficiently large slice of content to average things out. Or at least it should be.

Vivec: Worse, buddy. They're buying it.

Unfortunately, not a solid release. Just feels totally unfinished. Solitude is bland, NPCs with no character. Did dailies in NE yesterday for a change and, even though I'm so burned out on that zone, it's like night and day better.

Only going by the overall state of the game, not very good.

Did not buy greymoor so cannot comment on that.

It's passable, but not something to play for a long time, which i why i play a few weeks, leave for a few months and then maybe return. And in case they majorly *** up i leave for a year, already happened, especially when wow is actually good.

it's barely enough. The game is on a path of mediocrity, and this 5 will eventually become a 4 and then a 3 and then a 2, and at that point better games will probably be out anyway and zos will be wondering wtf happened to eso, where are all the players? But maybe that's their plan... Grab all the money now, and then kill the game.

Bland predictable story line with forgettable useless characters that feel like they're generic tropes. Stupidly easy boss fights, annoying harrowstorms, blackreach constant in combat bug annoying af, lack of balance changes or real performance improvements.

Antiquities is probably the only positive content of note that's actually pretty decent and rewarding and I can't wait to see more mythic items added in the future. The furniture is very nice looking too can't wait to find more.

Compared to previous chapters Greymoor is without a doubt the smallest and the worst.

Easily the worst chapter in ESO. I was going to give it a 2, but its set in Skyrim, so my expectations were higher. This wasn't some backwater place that I didn't care about.

Rate it based on what exactly? I'd like to give it a big fat "0" due to ZOS's failure to convince me to even purchase it.

    Agreed.

If they had instead spent the resources into fixing the base game and generally improving performance all around, maybe even squashing some longstanding bugs (still see people running on the backs of their mounts, or the never to be sufficiently damned stutter loadscreens in Craglorn or Cyrodiil) it would pay off in the long run.

Could have kept greymoor in the oven for a while longer and likely had not only a better release but a happier playerbase overall.
