Already have done the comparison, already know the latency the various servers located around the world cause for us Australians. As I stated, work in the industry, have already done the research. I prefer the NA server as it is where a lot of my friends play and will continue to do so for this reason alone.
The downtime during prime time for Australia and the entire Eastern world is annoying considering per person, we have invested a higher portion of money into playing the game over any other country that has access to the servers. We are being hit the hardest with these standard maintenance times, however, there is not much point getting upset over it. Anytime they schedule maintenance for will interrupt someones gaming time, somewhere in the world. They just simply cannot cater for everyone's needs when they are trying to operate on such a grand scale with a single megaserver. I really hope that they can move it from a Friday to a Thursday, but lets all be honest, lately it has been every 2 days, not standard scheduled times. It has been up and down like a cheep hooker with hotfixes and not so hot 'fixes'. Give Zenimax some time to get their pants on straight and work out that wetting their own bed will only make everyone else sleeping in it a little pissed off. Then and only then will they start listening to their customers by offering real standard maintenance times and real customer service for bugs and faults.

mithrosSoul ShrivenThe best selection for nights based on time zones that play on the NA server would actually be Tuesday or Thursday from 12AM EDT - 5AM EDT this would not interfere generally with majority of peak periods fro any players. It also wouldn't matter too much if it was a Friday.
If they changed to those times I think everyone would be fine with it.
This would be like 2PM AEST - 7PM AEST it wouldn't be great but at least we would get some peak time playing in and the US would also have their peak time until 12AM...

Im all cosy in my sleeping bag, ready to game on ESO on a friday night and BAM maintenance. Maestro_Sartori✭✭✭Mondays work good for me, no wait, Tuesday might be better, on second thought Wednesday wouldn't be too bad or maybe Thursday, Fridays could work also. Lausanna✭I agree - Friday is a terrible idea. Friday is a day you get off for holidays, or a day you take off for a long weekend once in a while - Friday often is part of the weekend and should be left alone unless there's a serious issue that needs immediate attention. Thursday would make way more sense - you can take care of anything that crops up after Tuesday maintenance and not interfere with a day that a lot of people have off.
Today, for example, is a holiday in Canada. And since I have family things to do from this afternoon until Sunday, I just lost the bulk of my playtime for the weekend.
I'm also not thrilled with the 7am EDT timing on either day. That's day time! Why can't maintenance be at say, 3 or 4am EDT. That way the west coast gets to play at least til midnight, and the servers should be back up by the time the east coast is waking up and the Aussies are settling in for prime time.
Maintenance is always going to be inconvenient somewhere but it seems like these timings screw way too many people all at once.2 -

Cancel subscription doesn't seem logical for me to pay monthly when the only days I get to play instead I get a server down for maintenance or a 301 error.3

LadyChaos✭✭✭✭A lot of server maintenance time isn't about convenience, it's about work schedule of the techs etc. They work during the day, make updates 2ce a week during their work hours.
IMO friday is a tough choice because if something goes wrong you have to pay overtime to get it fixed and and risk a bugged weekend with minimal tech support/CS available.
I don't think FRI is a good choice because of weekend risk, it is appalling for the Aussies who have historically played with NA servers. That aside It's still just post launch I assume the update schedule will slow down to one day a week at some point, and become much more reliable time frames over the next month or so.

Obviously anyone's Friday night is going to be terrible, so they just need to move maintenance off Fridays so it never hits anyone's Friday night.

dennissomb16_ESO✭✭✭✭✭There is no good day or time, someone will be upset. My concern is how long they plan to be doing a twice a week maintenance. Right now the huge amount of issues means a huge amount of maintenance while they fix thing. Add to the fact that they are not very good at it (down time far to much each time) and it is frustrating. If however they go the Blizzard route and do this maintenance twice a week for the next couple years (WoW down every Tuesday for years) then personally I'll move onto another game0

These times are not good enough for Australian and Oceanic players, now i've tolerated enough out of Zenimax this is the last straw, you just lose more customers to poor service Fix it or else..

EU servers are no good for Australian players we get over 400 ping time that's a 4 second delay We must Play on NA as we have no Alternative.1 -
While friday may be a bad day we don't exactly know all the circumstances. They may be fixing game breaking bugs, quests, etc... that they have gotten tons of complaints about, so doing it on a weekend would be even worse, and they can't wait for a few more days either. I'm just speculating, but it's worth a though that friday was the lesser of the evils here.0

dude.. while i do like your train of thought you didnt read the original post or scheduled maintenance times..
Tuesday and Friday are planned days.. every week while required.. which could be years.
