can we keep this on topic.. Changing the Regular maintenance from Friday to any other day of the week (not weekend) is what we want to achieve here

I find it funny people are actually complaining about the times. It doesn't matter what day or what time they do it it's going to interfere with someones schedule, but to come complain about it really, lol

Aaahhhh yes my illustrious friend. But if you will humour me for a moment, I will make the following 2 points.

1: As per the threads mentioned above, it is quite amusing to see one's reaction when his shoe is placed on the other foot so to speak.

2: This downtime clearly doesn't impact you in the slightest and as per all the previous posts in this thread and a number of others, there are a number of people who this does in fact impact.

I hope that Zenimax plans on reimbursing our accounts for so much down time. This is the second time this week the game has been down for "maintenance" and patches. I understand that both need to be done periodically but come on 2X a week, not to mention its not just down for an hour or two but most of the day.

Other games that I've played reimburse your account by adding days to your membership for the inconvenience.

As far as reimbursement goes, this isn't an unusual MMO launch. I can't see anyone wanting to be the first to start that precedent. The only issue here is the day. I'm totally fine with the getting things right and once it's all sorted the game will be even more amazing. Just don't go breaking so many paying customers prime gaming nights doing it.

We loves your came big Z. Just let us play it on our gaming nights!

by the way.. the 30 days of included time are generally the dating period to see if you are compatible ;)... if you dont like the game after 30 days you dont need to pay any more money to Zos.. just sayin

While i agree completely .. it isnt inline with the topic at hand ;).. if you do agree with the topic being discussed please find the first post and Hit agree or Awesome to draw more attention to the post.

Sorry, not trying to hijack your thread!

I was trying to highlight that in today's gaming climate, with the quality of games being developed and released by other companies who have their game available during their customers prime times, without a subscription.

Surely a game that charges a subscription can have their game servers up and running properly during customer prime times.

Didn't mean in any way to turn this into a game X is better than game Y argument.

Actually I wasn't too bothered by this till I remembered that we Aussie players also had to pay an extra US$30 to purchase the game even on a direct purchase from the site here online.

Move maintenance to EU primetime. Since we paid the most - Aussies should be getting the best service.

I don't understand why they changed from Tuesday/Thursday to Tuesday/Friday. Hard to imagine people asked for that...

Friday is THE WORST day for maintenance. One of the reasons being that it is payday. With that being said I actually bought the game this morning.. and now I have to wait.

    Download is done and everything...

    Friday maintenance is *** stupid.

They should just do maintenance on Monday, and I fail to see a reason to perform maintenance twice during the week.

Of course, this Friday is a holiday so I was looking forward to playing and I can't :(

    I agree with the OP.

Aside from any issues with time zones that cut into someone's prime time, as a dev myself working on an online game that pushes tons of updates and patches regularly, I can really say from experience that friday really is the worst day for patching and maintenance.

If something is wonky with a push on a friday (and normally there always are a few ducks out of line that slip through) then it means that players need to wait until the next week for a fix, potentially ruining their weekend, or that some devs need to come to work over the weekend.

We quickly moved our pushes etc to wednesdays, which always gives us 2 more days before the weekend to sort any new issues out. No stress for players and more importantly, no sleepless weekends for us either.

AGREE 100% I wake up early before work to get my kids ready for school. After I drop them off I come home to servers being down for the second time this week. The thing that blows my mind is the length of time the servers are down for.... and the minimal updates that cause this crazy downtime.

In Short Bethesda you are doing it wrong. If the log in servers are busted and the server ITSELF isn't functioning then fine.... bring the servers down anytime you must to fix it... that is a problem that hurts us all..... what you DON'T do is bring the servers down for a patch that addresses 1 mission..... and a bank inventory issue.... you just DON'T do that. You wait tell it is a safe time that will impact the LEAST amount of people globally.

I enjoy playing this game..... what I don't enjoy is crappy server management.

Smartest time is during your lowest playtimes. Why not schedule this for Mon/Tues in the middle of the night, and have the game up from 9am to midnight every day? After all, isn't it about the users that pay for this service? Euro servers and NA servers should each be timed by this method. Not sure why this isn't thought out better to begin with. Just sayin'....

I have to agree. A lot (not every) of people will take Friday's off for a long weekend, or start vacations early on that day. There are just so many reasons why maintenance should be Monday and Thursday and not Friday.

Yep its one of those threads..
    North American Megaserver
Tuesdays at 8:00am EDT (12pm GMT)
Fridays at 8:00am EDT (12pm GMT)

For Australians that puts the maintenance 10pm Friday night.. right in the middle of our prime time..

please change the day.. Thursday is much better ..

surely Thursday maintenance day is better for everyone.. generally people work during the weekdays and have weekends off.. whacking maintenance right in weekend is terrible ..

Your post assumes they care about serving the customers. Please go back and address that flaw in your thesis.
  • OutlawedPsycho
The reason why they chose Friday is because choosing another day that would be more convenient would be WAY less stress put on them. They enjoy stress guys! Don't Yanno'?

Honestly, I'm an Australian and I don't find it too much of an issue personally. I always have the idea that they're doing their best to improve our gaming experience in the back of mind whenever these maintenances occur. In the end this is an NA (North American) server. We Oceanic bum-buddies have conclusively agreed to playing on THEIR server and to accept the time for THEIR maintenances. Okay, the time might mess with ours but that's life. If you don't like it find a solution, if Zenimax chooses to shift the time to comfortably sit with Oceanic players, great! If not, that's fine. The people that work behind the curtain's to dust out the pests that filter our servers also have a life, I'd prefer them to be awake and in the right mind-set to see through these maintenances successfully.

8am is 8 pm my time , the only game I've seen that took us ppl below the equator was warhammer online , they actually listened to us gave us a oceanic server and the patch times didn't suck, shame the game fell apart but it was nice to know some one listened, im not saying its easy but almost every mmo ive played had a oceanic server for aussies and the like, this is so far all far north, put in a oceanic server allow those that want to jump ship move there with a free transfer and then put our patch times at some thing like 5 am and then leave us be, yes even if it was 2 patches a week it gives us the time to play a game and enjoy a game, other wise what's the point if the servers are coming down twice a week in our prime time?

I think I would rather have a patch day on a Friday morning while I am busy during that time and have a bug (reduced) experience over the weekend when I have the time to play, rather than playing through the weekend with all the bugs until they push a patch the following week. But that is just me.

If they need two days it really should be Monday and Thursday, not Tuesday and Friday. Either that, or create an asia pacific megaserver. Done.

Did no one read the notes a few days ago when they posted the normal maint schedule (friday is not one of the days) but the posting dev/admin stated that they MAY have to do further maintenence again this week to deal with the current issues going on? Friday isnt the normal maint day, its an out of the ordinary emergency sort of maint.
