I imagine I will get torn to shreds for what I am about to say, but I am tired of holding it in any longer.
I love this game and because of that I have supported it by buying their chapters, and some DLC content, crowns and even continued to sub when others called for a "strike" on the subs.
But I really don't know how much more of this I can take.
I began playing this game a bit before One Tam hit. I loved it because I could play a class any way I so chose to. I didn't need to play the meta. I tried different skills until I found what worked for me.
I am a disabled person who is homebound. Gaming is something that I enjoy doing. It passes time.
I do have my limitations though (because of my disabilities). I don't use back bar. And most of the times I even forget to use my Ultimate. So needless to say, I am a PvE only player. And I have done very few Dungeons because I don't feel I have much to offer a group and because I don't feel I should be flamed for my playing style. I also wear what gear I feel suits my toon and playstyle , which is Tinkerer's and Necro. And I am/was happy.
I am also on the bandwagon of those who hate the fact of pets interferring with LoS while at a crafting station or banker, etc. I used to use the Matriarch and the Clannfear, but I dropped the Matriarch a while back in exchange for LL. Now I find myself as 1 of those people cussing behind the screen at those who have the Matriarch out at such places. But I was still happy at this point.
With the last bunch of changes that came through I had to change the morphs on 2 skills that I do use, to the other morphs.
And make some minor adjustments here and there. I survived that one. Not Complaining.
The 2 Morphs I changed were : Patch 5.1.5 (Scalebreaker) Released on August 9 - Entropy and Degeneration no longer heal over time. So I swapped from Degen to Structured. And I believe the other was to Reach. Ok, I apdapted.
I not only have a MagSorc, but a MagPlar and a MagDen. If this next patch goes live, it is gonna hit me hard. ( I won't post up the Warden and Templar changes on here because this is a post about Sorcs. And I respect @SirAndy )
As it stands now in the latest PTS Patch Notes 5.2.0.....
1)Mages Guild
Entropy:
This ability and the Structured Entropy morph no longer grant Major Sorcery.
Decreased the damage dealt of all 3 versions of this ability by 50%.
Reduced the base cost of these abilities to 2700, down from 2970.
Degeneration (morph): This morph no longer grants Magicka back when hitting an enemy affected by the Damage over Time, but continues to grant Major Sorcery for its original duration.
2)Destructive Touch: Decreased the damage per tick of this ability and the Destructive Reach morph by approximately 63%.
3)Wall of Elements:
Increased the base duration of this ability and its morphs to 10 seconds, up from 8.
Increased base cost to 4950, up from 3024.
Reduced the damage per tick by approximately 32%.
4)Summon Unstable Clannfear (morph):
This morph’s damage now scales off your Max Stamina, rather than Magicka. WTF
Decreased the cost of the special activate to 4500, down from 4808.
The Area of Effect attack now deals the same damage as the basic attack, but hits in a 6 meter radius, up from 5 meters.
Fixed an issue where the AoE attack would cause the Clannfear to re-evaluate its purpose in life for 1 second after casting, lowering its potential DPS.
5)Lightning Splash:
Increased the base duration of this ability and its morphs to 10 seconds, up from 8.
Increased the base cost to 4950, up from 3024.
Reduced the damage per tick by approximately 33%.
If this goes Live all 5 of the Skills I use get hit.. And I will not rebuild her again. I will not adapt again. Nope. Nada. Not doing it. I have done it enough times already. But I will adapt....with my wallet. I don't have to craft! I don't have to farm!
I am beginning to feel like the game is becoming more PvP focused as of lately. But PvP is not the only part of this game that there is. There is also PvE. And just as many people PvE as they do PvP. Although I truly believe there is more PvEers than there is PvPers.
I will never understand why Zos didn't make 2 servers in the first place. 1 for PvE. 1 for PvP. Then Us PvEers wouldn't have to pay the price for what PvPers want.
And ofc there is all these changes to not just Sorcs, but to all classes that are occurring way too fast. Which started with Scalebreaker. Then some abilities got hit again in 5.1.7 on August 23. And now more coming up soon.
I am beyond frustratation. I am now irritated.
I play with a few people who are disabled. I understand how limiting things can be. If you're on PCNA and need to farm new gear I can help with that, or if you want to get some dungeons cleared you can run with us.

Awesome , Thank You so much. There are still some people in this world who do still care and have a heart.
And yes I am on PC/NA.
My IGN is the same as on here, feel free to send me a friends invite, if you want to.

I had just finished getting my gear together and Transmuted and my skills unlocked and organized and everything prepared, and had just tried normal Maelstrom Arena for the first time in preparation for really getting down to trying to get weapons I need from vMA.
Now it looks like all that time and effort and gold was completely wasted and I will not be able to do vMA after all. I have arthritis and carpal tunnel, and I *needed* the one-bar, simple build to keep my hands from just giving out on me after a million wipes. Some of us need an extra edge just to get where other people manage to get without any effort. So thanks ever so much ZOS for taking away my wheelchair ramp.

Why for a minute do you think you will be torn to shreds?
It's happened to me before on here in the past. That's why if you look at the date that I actually joined the forums and the stars I have by my name , you can clearly see I don't speak much on here. I played the game for some time before I ever joined the forums.
So very many of us agree totally with everything you have said.
I hate back bar with a vengeance, because I am not dexterous enough to manage the swap (plus even remembering what is on my back bar) most of the time. So with my Magsorc I run mainly one bar, with Clannfear for my heal. And I invariably forget to use ultimate too.
I never join groups because my DPS is pretty mediocre, and also I tend to get lost in dungeons if the group are speeding ahead. I'm playing about with my rotation and my DPS is increasing....but I don't feel I will ever be in a position to be able to offer a group anything much, given that most people are so much quicker and have so much more DPS.
So I solo 100% of the time. Don't get me wrong, I love soloing. I can get through public dungeons, dolmens and the very occasional WB. But completing anything else more difficult is not going to happen.
I can understand and relate to everything you said .
And your comments about PvP focus.....you have only to read the sheer number of posts about this to realise just how much PvE'ers resent the way ZOS handle PvE/PvP balance. That is the only area in which you may be torn to shreds, as many PvP'ers get triggered by us PvE'ers daring to 'blame' them for nerfs that affect us so badly. But remember that we stand by you, as we feel exactly the same.
I wasn't pointing fingers at the PvPers. It's Zos's fault for not splitting us up on to 2 different servers in the first place. If they had done just that then there would be less problems with the balancing. The Company that still runs my very first MMORPG (from 2009) found out the hard way that you can't mix PvP and PvE on the same server. They tried it on 1 game and found out it was a huge mistake. They wound up having to make a replica of the same game but it was PvP based.
So...I am not disabled, unless you call age a disability (I'm 72), which it most certainly is in its own way. But I have all the problems you have, and so I really know where you are coming from.
I am 57. Most of my disabilites came from a man's hands and feet. I also have dealt with some major health issues and the loss of an 18 year old son. I don't say that because I want sympathy either. Because I don't. I say it because I am a fighter. And A survivor. And I am proud of myself for still being here. Thank You for understanding
One thing I have found recently is, having rolled a Magplar, they are much easier to play than Magsorcs and their DPS seems to be a lot better for the moment. So the Magplar is now being leveled (with one bar!), and gaming life is fun again for a while. Until ZOS bring out yet another round of nerfs in the next update....and then it all degenerates again
. I have a Magplar also. And a MagDen. But My Sorc is and always has been my main. So right now I am enjoying her for as long as I can. Although all 3 are under the knife if what is in those patch notes goes live.
I honestly don't know how much longer the new combat team imagine they can keep this constant round of yo-yoing buff/nerf (mostly nerf) rubbish up. With a very few exceptions they are wrecking everyone's enjoyment of what should be a fantastic game. There is only so long that the player base will tolerate it, and I see the signs of that coming in the near future.
I totally agree.
Like you, I too love thie game. However, one thing that ZOS would do well not to dismiss is that although there is currently a hiatus of good MMOs around, there are very promising ones in development. They don't have that long to change their attitude towards their own player base before the new MMOs are here, and we all up sticks and go.

No, I haven't died very much. But I can also admit I got saved quite a few times from dying thanks to someone else coming along at just the right time and helping to kill the mob or boss or throwing a heal on me.
But with hits like we are about to experience to skills for all classes, and the ones we have already experienced to sorcs, I am just tired of trying to find new ways to continue playing my sorc and buying more gear that I shouldn't have needed. I find a build I like then they nerf it into oblivion. I adapt. I re-build again. Then it gets messed with. It just becomes tiresome after some time.
I can't test for myself because I am on 50GB per month Satellite Internet. And since there is 2 people who have to share that 50 GB... well I know you can see where I am going with this.lordrichter wrote: »Huh. Ah ok. I understand now, Thank you for explaining
As I said, my limited experience on PTS is showing in increased Time To Kill, which is due to lower DPS. So far, everything I have tried (limited, mind you) has died before I have. I always go into these patches figuring that the forum is taking things out of proportion, so I like to see for myself. It is frequent that I don't have insurmountable problems with the update.
My point is that things might not be as bad as you fear they will be.

Does anyone have any insight yet for if pet sorc heavy attack build will be viable at all for end game trials? I don't need to pull 90k, just the minimum that mid level guilds expect for DPS for entry requirements.
I like petsbut am not tied to the pets so much as a viable option for HA over LA.

I haven't tested it in a trial setting yet but from my (solo) testing the biggest problem with this upcoming patch will be sustain. Cost has increased dramatically and even with a full heavy attack build you will be scrambling for resources.
Now, in a raid environment you should have better sustain than solo but this may still be a problem for you.
Also worth noting, i didn't weave any light attacks in my testing since i was specifically interested in how the ground based AOE dots and the heavy attack sustain were affected.
If you can avoid or outheal more incoming damage (which should be the case in a raid setting) then light attacks weaving will net you more dps and you can dial down on the number of heavy attacks needed.
However, giving your constraints, that might not work well for you ...
