It's about time tbh. LL didnt need a nerf tho

Every single AoE DoT was nerfed, in the end every DPS build was nerfed and due to that the changes about DoTs shouldn’t be considered in any discussion about “Sorc nerfs“ as it’s not Sorc exclusive.

neither should reach, but from the conversations i read yesterday it appears to be exclusively a class skill for magsorc. /shrug

Guys, this isn’t a cast-time-on-shields level of bad. It’s just standard rebalancing, with a few much-needed nerfs to some overperforming skills. We’re all going to be okay.

I don't play my magsorc much anymore, but if I did, I'd tell you to get bent. These changes are hatchet jobs and all these 'much needed nerfs' are going to pendulum swing off into some as-yet-unforseen direction within 3-6 months.

    Again.

People seem to forget that this is an MMORPG. Classes are being rebalanced and reworked all the time. I can’t think of a single active MMO in which classes are not regularly rebalanced. It’s the nature of the genre. When they stop rebalancing classes, you know that the game is in maintenance mode.

This 'people' you passively-aggressively accused of forgetfulness has not, in fact, 'forgotten' that.

You're right though. The entire MMO industry is full of morons pretending they're actual creators of quality things, and they get to romp around in a Wild West industry in which the typical consumer (i.e: you) can be persuaded to accept absolutely hilarious degrees of disregard and shoddy craftsmanship because 'it's the nature of the genre'.

The nature of the genre is stupid, and anything that's actually well designed by real designers of things that matter do not, in fact, continually reinvent the wheel.

You've been taught to think reinventing the wheel is both normal and 'the nature of the genre'. The 'genre' has no nature. It has design principles, and your willingness to accept the absolute crap and voluminous abuses of your time investment as well as your money is as much a comment on you as it is on the developers and studios that keep manufacturing this third-rate garbage.

Whether you like it or not, frequent reinvention of the wheel is necessary in an online game that relies on steady logins to remain viable. New content or new PVP maps/modes doesn’t keep people occupied for very long. MMOs aren’t pick up and play games that you can revisit on and off; they’re meant to be played continuously. Shaking things up class-wise is one of several ways in which MMO developers keep people logging in. If that’s too frustrating for you, there are other genres available.

ESO is actually one of the more forgiving MMOs on the market; at least we don’t have to re-grind all of our gear with every major patch. I, for one, am glad that I don’t have to stick with the same build all the time. I enjoy theorycrafting, and I enjoy revisiting skills and sets that were once thought “useless” from time to time. Guess that’s why I don’t feel like the sky is falling every time a new patch is announced. *shrug*

So you're a well trained, well groomed consumer. Preen a little harder about how you'd never dream of complaining because you're the goodest or something.

Meanwhile, frequent reinvention of the wheel is not, in fact, necessary in an online game, and if you ever get to enjoy the pleasure of playing one that actually has content that keeps people logging in, you'll realize just how much of a cheap gimmick these endless cycles of wheel reinvention actually are.

You should up your standards and stop taking whatever they hand you just because they handed it to you.

Welcome to the real world petsorcs, now you will have to learn to play like everybody instead of clickclick-pewpew and if It goes bad click "bye bye" 4 times... Stack more resistances and more protection. Even with that, while they dont fix targeting, summoning 3 pets should not be possible. How do you kill 3 petsorcs va 3 petsorcs?? XD is It possible?

You seem to be missing the point. ZOS continually balances PvP on the backs of PvE players when there is no rational reason for it. Unlike other MMO's where open world PvP is available across all areas EOS confines PvP to PvP areas and instances. This means EOS has the ability to balance PvP and/or PvE without affecting the other. It is nothing more than shear laziness on the part of ZOS to not maintain different skill values for PvP and PvE. ZOS is the definition of insanity by continuing to try to balance PvP and PvE with one set of stats when each environment's requirements are different.

Looks like there were many issues with petsorc in PvP. Now every damage skill of a PvE pet Sorc has been nerfed, and let´s consider Sorcs weren´t in top of the chart...

Take an easier solution: forbid pets in PvP. Leave pets for PvE, and dont destroy the class as it looks like it´s happening. So many nerfs in many aspects of the class: DPS, survability, ...

Or either, finally, make two branch of skills. One for Pve and another one for Pvp. This way one set wont affect and gameplay wont be affected. Make pvp sets just for pvp, and pve sets for pve.

I'm stuck with that Sorc for achievement hunting and such, I started him as a crafter and thought it would be a good idea to make him my achieve hunting guy when i realized I had a lot of achieves spread all over the place.

But my kitty Stamcro is almost ready... a few more days and he will have all skill lines maxed out except Mount and Alliance War (currently lvl5). Could have been sooner but I think I spend more time in the Forum than in game these days :D

Well, I feel for you then.

At least you seem to have alternatives for achieve hunting, I don't think I do, mostly because of Alliance war ranks (I'm like lvl27 or something) and the cost of crafting motifs.... On the other hand, my Master Angler is a NB, so... Well, no, doing it all over again, no way.

The thing is: I actually liked my Pet Sorc... I could use him when i was tired or otherwise had my hands, or my eyes or my head aching. It is "comfortable" to play, maybe also beecause I'm used to it.

Now I guess I will have no alternative but adrenaline, so when I'm tired or something, I won't log into ESO, I'll watch a movie or read a book instead.

There's a difference between gutted (which would render it useless) and betterish balance. Pets needed to be toned a bit and even so i don't think it will ruin the play style at all. The sorcs will be fine they always have been.

Pets weren't "tone down a bit", we are talking about 67 or 69% (cant remember correctly) nerf on the Matriarch damage.

The Tormentor is not worth the 2 slots on Live, and it's not worth the 2 slots on PTS either. It is, and will continue to be, a dead morph.
The Matriarch might survive and still be used in very niche scenario (if Sorc healers can be viable) but forget bringing it to any more or less Endgame content, PvE wise. It's not exactly dead, but it's severely crippled. IN PVP well, there's the troll ZOO sorc build, so maybe...

That's what I call gutted by my book... and don't tell me about Overland, I can easily solo most of it (except some WB) with just Broom and Bucket and a sneaky set (Darlock Brae - no other set used) and therefore half naked on a StamDK lol.

Pet sorcs was well over performing I don’t want them gutted but they did need slight nerfs.

Ya ok but I mean what is an "overperforming pet sorc" like it doesn't hit that hard rn, they are just use-able as oppose to not. 70% damage nerf is just way beyond over the top.

This was Clannfear only, no Matriarch. Didn't feel like re-specing for this quick test.

No back bar buffs, just the bread & butter AOE skills for Pet MagSorcs:

    Skills used:
    - Hardened Ward
    - Unstable Wall of Storms
    - Liquid Lightning

    Ultimate:
    - Thunderous Rage

    Monster:
    - Infernal Guardian

    Pet:
    - Clannfear

LIVE *before* the last round of nerfs:
~40k dps, 2:45 time to kill

    LIVE *currently*:
~30k dps, 3:28 time to kill

    PTS *currently*:
~29k dps, 4:49 time to kill

While i was able to maintain about the same dps i had huge sustain issues during the whole fight. I had to chug potions on cooldown like candy even though i was constantly heavy attacking. The cost increase hits hard and i almost died at one point because i was completely out of magicka. Time to kill went up significantly because of that.

These nerfs make me want to quit. I am tired of the buff/nerf/buff/nerf cycle. I just want to play my class. Gonna have to drop the sorc now and move on to something else.

This is not fun. This is frustrating.

I imagine ill get some *** for this, but tell me something. Why is hardened ward so important for mag sorcs?
    @eso_lags
Because there's more to ESO than just PvP.
I use my Mag Pet Sorc to solo group vet dungeons and run vMA.
The shields are essential for a light armor build in those scenarios. Without them my build won't work.

For the bolded part: That’s why some builds are being nerfed. ;)
    @Savos_Saren

If you can clear vMA, you can solo most base game group dungeons on vet.
If that bothers you, you will have to nerf every build that has ever cleared vMA.

Sounds ridiculous? Yeah, i thought so too ...

It sounds ridiculous when you say you have to nerf every build that's has ever cleared vMA. You shouldn't be able to clear most base vets solo and if that means nerfing pet builds, well it sucks for all of us but that's what's going to happen.

You think ZoS cares about people soloing? Seriously? It's the most inefficient way of doing anything, yet we still have fun with it.

Well, at least you're making me feel better about my soon-to-be gutted magicka dragonknight? It sounds like the past couple updates have been bad for everyone, so I'm in good company at least. *shrug*

On the plus side, stamina characters seem alright. Tested out my new stamblade on the PTS and I love it. Easier to light weave with the melee weapons (at least for me), and the cheesy animation canceling glitch that is now state-sanctioned by Zenimax Online props my damage up so much that I hardly notice the decimated dots. Going to make her on the official server later on tomorrow and accept my dragonknight's defeat at the hands of perennial nerfing. Join me. Give up. :-P

It depends on the reason for the nerfs really. If they are nerfing things because they don't want PVE players skipping phases then yes, they do care about people soloing their dungeons lol. Wouldn't you if you were designing this content? I know if I was and power creep had gotten to the point where 1 average player could solo content meant for 4 people I'd probably look at ways to rescale things. It doesn't matter how efficient or inefficient it is, it matters that it's happening.

I don't want to give up on my magDk. I love the playstyle too much. I want to believe I can find an alternative to using dots on a DK (yeah, I'm probably crazy...). I'm on console, so all I can is theorycraft. And wait.

You're hardly ever going to skip mechanics soloing a group dungeon, you will be forced to play them. I've done several Vet HM solos and nICP (had another player port in just for the levers), and my dps is mediocre at best. The only group im going to out dps is a bad pug who won't clear the dungeon due to poor coordination.

Edit: Im not trying to sound rude. Sorry if my first post was.
