Pet Sorcs got gutted ...

Can someone link me the notes? Is it listed in the Patch Notes section of the forum? The top thread says nothing about pets getting nerfed.

I just returned to this game and pet sorc is my main and I only play PvE. This sounds a bit harsh.

    Edit: nevermind, I found them.

I'll point out that I'm getting around 2k dps. Moaning to me about how you can "only" do 30k dps isn't going to convince me of anything.

With one pet and a destruction staff, you should be able to get 2k DPS on a target dummy with just light attacks and the pet action.

That said, people here in the forum have always been way too touchy about DPS. I would wager that most of them have considerably more DPS on Live than they actually need to accomplish whatever it is they do. That is why I don't get upset about losses in DPS.

My DPS criteria is based on "they die before I do" and as long as my DPS is above that, no worries.

I just came back to the game from a break, and am trying vMA again after having failed many times in the past. I was going to use the build seen here, which is a pet/shield build:

    https://alcasthq.com/eso-magicka-sorcerer-maelstrom-pve/

Will this not be viable anymore? Just wondering because I have been grinding out the set pieces and am down to just the Iceheart stuff left....don't want to keep grinding these keys if it it's all going to be for naught.

Appreciate any help/advice. I don't normally chase the numbers meta but I really want to beat vMA :P

Its hard to give a truly objective opinion since having done the arena means that you have the mechanics down, at least to some extent. Beating it the first time is as hard as it would ever be. There's no real way to replicate that for someone that has beaten it.

That's said, I'm sure that will work. I'm also sure that it will be more difficult.

Skoria and Icehearts are good sets that apply in all sorts of content, I wouldn't worry about the keys and or time being wasted.

    Good luck

Sorry guys. I love how many of you are really, REALLY attached to your magsorcs. Heck, I have 5 magsorcs myself, including my main.

But you have to understand that writing 3 pages long essays about how bad it's going to be, does not work with ZOS.

The only way is to do like me: unsub and if the interface asks you why, then write about the incoming nerfs.

That's the one and only way: to force them. Because kind and constructive words have stopped working 3 years ago.

The combat team has no idea whether you subscribe to ESO Plus or have recently unsubbed. That information has no useful meaning. People leave the game every day, and it is often due to something they don't like. Your method, or the other method of sitting in a thread that does little more than cry about it, does not tell the combat team anything they don't already know. You are unhappy. That is not a lot to work with.

Personally, what I think the Combat Team needs are numbers from actual scenarios, played out on PTS, and how those numbers are impacting your game play. Not solutions. Not what-ifs. Not the difference between PTS and Live. Just numbers documenting how the changes actually impact your game play.

Companies don't work like that. Wrobel has not been fired because of our feedback, but because the holes in revenue made those who matter (CEO, CFO etc.) decide to kick him.

If people keep unsubbing and quitting, the current combat team won't have an idea about who subscribes or not, but their bosses will. And their bosses are those who decide. It does not take a lot of gameplay knowledge to a CFO, to decide to warn and eventually kick a combat team that makes ZOS lose tens of millions.

That has nothing to do with his point, but nice attempt at deflection.

His point (and he IS correct) is that unsubbing affects the bottom line, and the bottom line determines who is doing their jobs well enough for employment, or those jobs who are not pulling their weight.

It does not take much brain power to assume (correctly) that if you come out with a huge nerf class patch and people start unsubbing en masse, why that reason is.

He talked about that prior to him brining up Wrobel. But more importantly, he is not the one who brought the team into the discussion, you were. You assert that the class design team does not know why people unsub. I say you are incorrect, because if the communication between that small team of employees who make this game is that bad....then we have MUCH worse issues to be concerned with than losing 50-70% dot damage and class identity.

Looks like my favorite build will indeed have to take a hiatus.
Sadly the latest PTS patch notes do not address any of the issues:
    https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en/discussion/495873/pts-patch-notes-v5-2-2/p1

A 30% dot damage reduction (in addition to the 30% reduction we already have on live right now) plus the massive increase in cost is going to kill my build.

It looks like they're going to increase the damage from DOTs (in a future patch during this PTS) by 20% bringing the nerf to settle at 33% over all.

"In a future patch during this PTS cycle, we will be increasing the total damage of any Damage over Time abilities that were adjusted in PTS v5.2.0 by approximately 20% to reduce situations where many of the abilities felt difficult to maintain outside of nanosecond perfect rotation. This means there will be an overall reduction in damage from DoT abilities of approximately 33% compared to what is currently on the Live megaservers."

I had a pet Sorc evade death by dashing in and out and hiding behind his atronarch and canofear (either yesterday or the day before). I would've had him killed him for sure if I could only target him. Sorcs have plenty of ways to mitigate or evade damage. Streak and pets are HUGE.

Exactly. My sorc lost 10k dps from Elsweyr to Scalebreaker. Now I'm going to lose some more (not clear how much) and have a cost increase. At some point this becomes unfun and a chore to play.

Lol who can say that magicka is overperforming? Totally bias comment there...

I don't understand this hatred over magicka but after reading the overall notes I think they're draining power from class and AOE skills and adding it DOT damage? Also unstable wall damage got buffed

Magica is 100% overperforming and it will only get worse with the new changes Mag Plar has been the king of the dot meta the only this that has kept stam even close to viable is d swing into onslaught which is now gone both nerfed.. Rapid regen > vigor stam has no way to share heals every damage line has been nerfed into near useless and now even strong class dots are going to be garbage... Its play mag or GTFO

Of course I'll test my sorc on live after the Patch is implemented before I do anything drastic like revoking my sub.

I wasn't very pleased having read the notes on what they're doing to my beloved daedric summons, my wall of fire and basically my entire front bar 😭

I completely disagree; 1) the Unstable Familiar has been so thoroughly nerfed in DPS that all that remains is the 'soft tank' aspect (which is removed from group content, and I will not be surprised if it is removed from overland content to make it as worthless as the NB's Shade) and the Aesthetic value. Perhaps it may be thought a negligible concern, but as a MagSorc, simply prefer the Clannfear to the Scamp.

    2) No other class can summon the Clannfear or Scamp;

    3) and why should it be an easy tell to immediately identify whether someone is Stam or Mag simply by glancing at their Summon?

I think it would be healthier for the game if most skills were designed to utilize the higher stat, rather than stam or mag morphs; consider the build diversity gained by selecting morphs based on utility or damage instead of what stat pool they drain.

    agree.gif

Actually, i would take this even further:

    - Restrict Stamina to only be used for basics that are shared for all characters like sprinting, blocking, dodging etc.

    - Rename Magicka to something more generic and have all skills use that pool exclusively

Basically, get rid of the whole Stamina/Magicka duality for skills, have one resource dedicated for basic movement/mobility and one dedicated for skills.
