    It is really sad as this is not how Zos used to operate. Granted, this is Cyrodiil but it is still part of the game.

    UPDATE: I received the update this morning 9/7.

    It is out of the escalation department hands. They did want to check my account a few times but they said I was online each time and did not want to kick me offline. I appreciate that but trust me if it meant them checking and fixing the account I would have understood.

    I did use the advice that I collected from this thread and sent it to escalations with my reply. They did give me crowns! They would have given them to me to purchase the skill line, but since the game sees that toon as having the achievement it will not allow me to purchase the skill line. It was a way of apologizing for the trouble and I do appreciate that.

    I also asked for XP scrolls and I have a reason for that. I was rank #6 for my faction when this happened, and the lost time has surely ruined that for me. They understood and gave me a few for a boost. I appreciate that too.

    The response times it took to get to this point is... disappointing. I hope the Devs did get word on this issue and are looking into it. Let us hope they are already working on it!

    Well, I totally believe it. Their policy is "everything is fine, the game works perfectly", and it has been for years. Tech issues ? They admited to it ONCE, and still went on pretending they had been fixed when they were not. Around the same time, which was like a year ago, they said "we'll get better at communicating", then fell back into their usual silence from which they haven't emerged since. I'm pretty sure even Cthulhu emerges from slumber more often.

    I wonder why they even bother having someone pose as "community manager" if they're not going to have an interaction with the community whatsoever. Well, unless it's to lock / edit posts that say something bad about PvP, of course. Then, suddenly you see a Z next to your post... To tell you that it's locked / edited and you should be careful if you want to retain the right to speak.

    OP, I'm glad you got something out of this at least :) Still, it's ridiculous that no one can restore the skill lines anywhere within ZOS Support. That's just nuts. And even more insane that this whole fiasco took so long to come to a sub-optimal resolution.

    This is BS. It’s just another example of such poor quality control by ZOS. The decision making is always the same. Push content out no matter what... even if it’s not fully tested and results in game breaking errors. The difference this time is that even pay to win mechanics now get the poor quality control treatment.

    BGs released broken and doesn’t work.

    Necromancers released and certain skills don’t work.

    Pay-to-win skill lines for sale mechanic released and doesn’t work either. Instead it breaks your character.

    Looking for Group tool released and re-released and never worked like it should. It outright stops working during community events designed to encourage group play.

    ZOS has an experienced team with the skills to do the necessary work. But the quality control and tolerance for poor quality is killing the game.

    Come on ZOS. You’ve worked too hard to make this content to release it before proper testing. PTS doesn’t count. Properly staff in-house game testers!

    Just to top off this thread and end it with information from ESO's patch notes on 11/18/19.


    Alliance War
    Fixed an issue where your Alliance War skill lines could reset to Rank 1 after encountering a specific crash in Cyrodiil.


    Hopeful it never happens again, but if it does -- those searching for a solution will see it was a server-side issue.

    Ty for bringing this thread up again.
    While I red the patchnotes I was thinking - there was a thread where somebody had that problem.
    I like that I don't have to search for it :wink:

    As a non-pet sorc since 2016 the U46 Patch Notes sound like: "Those who do not wish to interact with the pet gameplay can now replace this skill line eso as a whole."

    I find it ridiculous that out of all those ZOS people tagged not one response even to say sorry we are looking into it.

    edit - At least for PC they seem to have addressed the problem in the patch notes, still a response would have been nice.

    Did you get the skill points back that you had invested into the skill line?

    The funny things is that all the passives are locked but at the same time maxed. Also the skills were locked but they were still maxed.

    I had to play some time to get them all open again. My build is cleanse sorc so it was really disappointing.

    In reply, yes the skill points were returned but not the passives.
    Ok so the skills are preserved but not the skill itself, wonder if you could morph the skills, don't try.
    And this is scary stuff, skill level is an pretty static value who can only go up.
    Can not imagine any setting there this could be reset.
    Understand rollback there you loose 1-5 minutes of progress and loot but not this.
    Even switching between stamina and magic builds the old skills can still be morped if you put skill point into them
    Grinding just make you go in circles.
    Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

    Wow thats really gonna suck for crafting skill lines. Esp jewelry and enchanting. Got my fingers crossed when i log in tonight.
