Elsweyr. So many cliffs and canyons make it difficult to navigate (though the Stitches is a neat idea). Only a couple new wildlife, the rest borrowed from earlier zones.

I love the story and quests there; I am solely talking about the lay of the land (and its fauna).

Anything hard to navigate because of mountains/canyons/other obstructions if the path over/around isn't apparent by looking at the map: Malabar Tor, Greenshade, Grahtwood, Glenumbra the big canyon area of Elsweyr.

I dont like gathering skyshards in craglorn because they are all in delves.

Anything that has water with random deep spots to dismount me like shadowfen.

I dislike most desert looking zones there's like no game out there that makes an interesting desert zone.
But what can you expect from a bland and boring sandy desert.

    1. Stonefalls-- ugly as sin, depressing skies, and more arrogant slavers and ex-slavers than you can shake a stick at. Going there makes my soul shrivel and die.
    2. Coldharbour-- monotonous monochrome color scheme that's only slightly easier on the eyes than SWTOR's Hoth. Impossible to navigate and locked down via artificial story-gating. Confusing samey-same delves that will keep yiou running in circles for days while you search for the boss.
    3. Vvardenfell-- cute guars and interesting architecture or no, this is a much bigger and almost-as-ugly Stonefalls. Yuck. The Ashlanders and pretty Vivec can't save it.

Similar to my thoughts. I'd add that Stonefalls literally has a "find wine casks" quest, and I believe a "kill bats" one as well.

But I dislike Murkmire even more than the ones you cited.

Weirdly, Murkmire's my favorite zone in the game. I'm a total sucker for the Mayan-ish atmosphere :)

I don't much like Shadowfen, Rivenspire or Coldharbour.

Shadowfen is just too wet and swampy, so I'm not much of a fan of Murkmire either although for some reason I don't dislike it as much.

Rivenspire, Coldharbour, and Hollow City are too depressing feeling, maybe even oppressive. Coldharbour along with the Hollow City both have the weird oppressive "music" or sound that grates on my nerves, it was obviously designed to make you want to leave.

Totally with you. Annoying cliff placement, spread out non-sensical wayshrine placement, and so, so many annoying adds.

Close second for me is Glenumbra. Probably because every single one of those quests was a "fetch" quest that had you constantly running over your footsteps

Base game, Rivenspire or Malabal Tor, mainly because they're a pain to get around for skyshards and lorebooks. Coldharbour sucks eggs too.

Morrowwind is more of a personal reason with a gross story so if you like mushrooms don't read any further.......

Ok you've been warned, so when I was younger I worked in a leisure centre in a hotel as a lifeguard. One day when I was cleaning the water line(the water in a swimming pool leaves deposits on the tiles that can turn nasty looking if left for too long) when all of a sudden I see a piece of mushroom bobbing along towards the edge of the pool. I look up to see where it came from and to my horror I see the pool is full of these little pieces of half chewed slightly digested mushrooms bobbing along like horrible little boats in a vomit armada. Three kids from the one family had puked in the pool one after the other. Apparently the sight of the first one puking set of the other two until the lovely pool I'd spent an hour scrubbing was lovely no more. I then had to clear the pool(that wants hard as most people had done a runner as soon as they could) I then had to scoop out all the pieces of mushrooms, piece by piece as they were too big for the filters & would clog it. When the pool was clear I blasted up the chlorine level and left it high for the night so it'd be clear & clean for the following day.

Since then I have never had a mushroom and seeing as they're EVERYWHERE in Morrowwind I feel squeamish every time I go there.

Grahtwood and Greenshade for me. The scenery is nice, but all the obstacles in those zones get old real quick. Plus, their zone quest storylines were probably my least favorite. As far as jungle zones go, I felt like Malabal Tor was much, much more enjoyable than Grahtwood and Greenshade.

It seems no one has mentioned it(unless I missed it), it shouldn't even be on our map zone list....

Norg-Tzel each character can go there only if they are on the quest and after completed can never go back. It's a pain in my balls every time I open my map and the zone is there taunting me. I suppose if I played mouse and keyboard it wouldn't bother me but on gamepad mode I see it every time I have to travel out of the zone I'm in.

Anywhere with depressing music really bugs me. I can (mostly) deal with the design decisions that make you run 2 kilometers to go 20 meters, if the music is something I enjoy.

Wrothgar would be one of my favorite zones if it had music I enjoy. But the music there makes it one of my least favorite zones.

I don't think any music could improve my opinion of Reaper's March, however. It's ugly and difficult to navigate. Plus, the city there is always so full of players that you can't see the wayshrine, guild traders or even the banker.

To be fair, it’s a marshy swamp like place which is supposed to be full of horrific creatures, be oppressive, and frustrating to navigate. On that basis it is perfect. Unfortunately it’s full of horrific creatures, it’s oppressive, and it’s frustrating to navigate.

So I’m curious. With all the different zones, which is your LEAST favorite to do, and why?
For me...I DESPISE Reapers March. It’s spread out, and unlike other areas, you can’t run across map. Apparently the devs thought it smart to surround EVERY LITTLE THING by a mountain which makes this zone so hard to move around

Imperial City. There is no contest.

There isn't much on this game more annoying than losing Tel Var because a zerg decided to run you over. Cheap PvP deaths are annoying enough as it is. But when you add a penalty to it, it makes it intolerable.

Black Marsh lands like Shadowfen and Murkmire (too difficult to navigate), Khajiit lands (annoying), followed by Dunmer lands (too dark) followed by Breton lands (pretty but boring, yes even Rivenspire BORING).

    Hew's Bane, specifically Abah's Landing.
I despise the multi level layout. You go to where your quest marker is on the map only to find it is 3 stories above you and you have to back track half the map to find the way up and then complete a maze of planks and ledges.
I actually rage quit the Thieves Guild quest line because of it and didn't go back for over a year to do the thieves guild quest line during the event.
    Horrible zone design.

That’s why I love Abah’s Landing. They don’t play too much with vertical design in this game so whenever they have multilevel maps o get excited. Most of the game design is on the ground level, which is boring. Crowded cities build going upwards! I wish there were more vertically designed maps.
    kind_hero wrote: »
In general I dislike any zone where you need to go around a lot because of tall rocks, boulders or trees, which are made like this intentionally. Also I hate any invisible wall or slope that prevents you climbing or jumping such obstacles (I do not mind when it is story related or for technical reasons such as end of the map).

So, for me these are some of the AD zones like Greenshade or Malabal Tor. I also dislike Reaper's March because of the bland textures and to many wasps which seem very odd to me even for a fantasy game where you have a savanna type of land.
I also did not manage to like Stonefalls, even though some of the story quests were interesting, I always wish to finish the quests faster and go to the Rift.

My suggestion to improve the zones with difficult terrain is to add some vines or ladders that players could use in certain places, because in fact I don't dislike such terrain, just going around in circles or wasting a lot of time to get from one point to an other.

One of the zones I like most is Wrothgar because of how beautiful each area is. Also Hew's Bane and Gold Coast are very well done. Someone did not like the multi-level layout in Abah's Landing, but I like exactly that... since it is more natural, like a city like that would be. I dislike the very spaced and horizontal layout of cities typical to MMOs. Abah's Landing feels great compared to Daggerfall, but it is also a matter of preference.

    Agree

Pretty much all AD zones, including Summerset, are a pain with regards to getting around and with wayshrine placement. But Malabal Tor is probably the worst. Cliffs and waterways everywhere, no wayshrine on the north coast, and enemy encampments always in your way. It's also not that visually appealing as a jungle themed zone. It's too bad Valenwood has been completely covered and Cyrodiil is based on TES IV. It would have been nice to see a real jungle zone done right.

    Cryodiil
why? because i prefer open world pvp, where we can fight anyone.
cryodiil blocks that from happening. its designed to be alliance dependant and not allow for us to play solo against everyone and pvp like pvp is suppose to be.
1 person fighting for and surviving free for all every man for himself.
but cryodiil is also my favorite, only because it is the only zone in cryodiil that allows for pvp, so ... its a horse a piece.

I guess I'm just not as impressed with running around in a sewer as you are. The city area looks cool I suppose (in a nightmarish sorta way) but not nearly cool enough to make up for it's annoying design. Out of all the areas in the game - this is easily the zone I least enjoyed exploring. I hate being ambushed by players while fighting and losing most of my stones. It's just aggravating.

If they had a PvE version of the zone I might would have enjoyed it more.
