What’s your LEAST favorite zone and why?

So I’m curious. With all the different zones, which is your LEAST favorite to do, and why?
For me...I DESPISE Reapers March. It’s spread out, and unlike other areas, you can’t run across map. Apparently the devs thought it smart to surround EVERY LITTLE THING by a mountain which makes this zone so hard to move around

Somewhat amusingly, my frustration in Eastmarch was something that's largely gone away since One Tamriel changed crafting.

Pre One Tamriel, all of the zones had certain levels of materials in them according to the level of the quests.

I was EP, and leveling up for the first time, so when I got to Eastmarch, my material for clothing was Cotton.

White Cotton. White Snow in Eastmarch.

 I never had enough cotton for my clothing crafting!

My least favorite zones are Shadowfen and Murkmire. I very strongly dislike running around in the swamps with all those ankle-biters!

    1. Reapers March
    2. Malab Tor
    3. Murkmire

Murkimire was a big disappointment. Aldmeri Dominion has the worst zones (minus Auridon), and any zone with Khajiit get minus points.

I had issues with the cliffs in Greenshade. Even when I was following the level-locked quests in order, there was something about the geography that just didn't work well for me.

    1. Greenshade because of cliffs, trees and mountains everywhere, too much obstacles, uncomfortable to move around.
    2. Murkmire because of poor optimization, I get the worst framerate in this zone.
    3. Reaper's March because of red-ish color filter and too much of Khajiits (I'm not a racist, but I don't like their architecture and style).
    4. Bangkorai because of silly and cheap looking mountain and tree models.
One of the two of us definitely has gone mad. It only remains to define whether this one is the whole world or just me.

    1. Stonefalls-- ugly as sin, depressing skies, and more arrogant slavers and ex-slavers than you can shake a stick at. Going there makes my soul shrivel and die.
    2. Coldharbour-- monotonous monochrome color scheme that's only slightly easier on the eyes than SWTOR's Hoth. Impossible to navigate and locked down via artificial story-gating. Confusing samey-same delves that will keep yiou running in circles for days while you search for the boss.
    3. Vvardenfell-- cute guars and interesting architecture or no, this is a much bigger and almost-as-ugly Stonefalls. Yuck. The Ashlanders and pretty Vivec can't save it.

Coldharbor. Because the light in the zone is cold and the zone is depressing. It is exactly how it should be (thumbs up for the designers), but i only go there if really needed.

Probably Coldharbour in terms of looks.

Wrothgar is also annoying, in terms of the different height levels blocking your path all the time.

Similarly, I disliked being herded around the circular route, in Reaper's March, when the game launched, even though I liked the look and feel of the towns there.

Elsweyr annoyed me until I learned the geography and got Rapid Maneuver.

I didn't like the Northern parts of the zone, that were too dusty and when it first launched, it was like the colour settings were too intense.

Now, I quite like most of it and really like the look of the Southern part.

    Hew's Bane, specifically Abah's Landing.
I despise the multi level layout. You go to where your quest marker is on the map only to find it is 3 stories above you and you have to back track half the map to find the way up and then complete a maze of planks and ledges.
I actually rage quit the Thieves Guild quest line because of it and didn't go back for over a year to do the thieves guild quest line during the event.
    Horrible zone design.

Grahtwood makes me feel claustrophobic, that and the fact that whenever I try to go from A to B there's a damned cliff in the way. I find Murkmire to be the same. In fact it's all the jungle/swamp places.

And this. But I think it's the same with most of the maps not being all that accurate to the landscape. As I said above, there always seems to be a cliff or a ravine that you can't make out on the map, or a road on the map that you can't see on the ground. In most places it's fun trying to work it all out, but those jungly, swampy places just make me port out of there and go do something else sometimes. Frustration is the word I'm looking for I think.

For me it was Alik'r desert, too bland surroundings, and Rivenspire too depressing surroundings.

Looks-wise? Coldharbour. Really dislike it. Though as is supposed to be domain of Daedra is appropriate.

Story-wise? Grahtwood/Greenshade. Not overly keen on Bosmer so these areas do not appeal. Oooh forgot about Malabal Tor. Dislike that zone so much have managed to wipe it from my mind. 🤣

In terms of looks: Alik'r. The story is great and the music is fantastic (especially at night), but the zone itself is still a huge pile of sand. About six and a half quadrillion grains of sand...

And in terms of story/quests: Greenshade. In the final parts of the zone each quest has you go all over a Point of Interest, and then a 2nd time in a shadowy version of the same area. And the quests themselves are set up in an annoying way

Not going to leave out EP here, so I'm going to mention Stonefalls as well. Lava = bad...

Shadowfen is the worst. You can't go 5 feet off-road without being dismounted. I'm also not a fan of the AD zones because they all mostly look the same, trees, trees, trees. Reaper's March is ok though.

Stonefalls. Not because it's ugly, it is actually very cool with volcanoes and such.

It's because navigating the Stonefalls is not fun, like for example riding aaalllllll the way around one volcano, weee. And getting to one dolmen is swimming or again riding all the way around a volcano.

Not a big fan of Shadowfen either, so many swamps.

Elsweyr, which is weird for me because character-wise Khajit are my favorite race in the game. I like the story, but the zone itself just feels so...empty. Even the main "city" of Rimmen feels incredibly hollow with most of the buildings being closed off. Also for some reason my performance is worse in this zone than any other zone in the game.
