Right when I started in 2014 I despised Shadowfen. Too dark, too marshy, weird map, some bosses used to be bugged, argonian wayshrines can't be used from mount to this day... It's just a pet peeve of mine, to this day I don't like the zone.

Definitely Summerset. The stone architecture was sooooo boring, it was so disappointing to finally see Summerset and find it covered in nothing but the plainest, most boring white stone buildings.

    Shadowfen and Murkmire.

Everywhere are rotten trees you have to ride or walk around, and cliffs, and water. I just don't like swamps...

In general I dislike any zone where you need to go around a lot because of tall rocks, boulders or trees, which are made like this intentionally. Also I hate any invisible wall or slope that prevents you climbing or jumping such obstacles (I do not mind when it is story related or for technical reasons such as end of the map).

So, for me these are some of the AD zones like Greenshade or Malabal Tor. I also dislike Reaper's March because of the bland textures and to many wasps which seem very odd to me even for a fantasy game where you have a savanna type of land.
I also did not manage to like Stonefalls, even though some of the story quests were interesting, I always wish to finish the quests faster and go to the Rift.

My suggestion to improve the zones with difficult terrain is to add some vines or ladders that players could use in certain places, because in fact I don't dislike such terrain, just going around in circles or wasting a lot of time to get from one point to an other.

One of the zones I like most is Wrothgar because of how beautiful each area is. Also Hew's Bane and Gold Coast are very well done. Someone did not like the multi-level layout in Abah's Landing, but I like exactly that... since it is more natural, like a city like that would be. I dislike the very spaced and horizontal layout of cities typical to MMOs. Abah's Landing feels great compared to Daggerfall, but it is also a matter of preference.

    1. Stonefalls-- ugly as sin, depressing skies, and more arrogant slavers and ex-slavers than you can shake a stick at. Going there makes my soul shrivel and die.
    2. Coldharbour-- monotonous monochrome color scheme that's only slightly easier on the eyes than SWTOR's Hoth. Impossible to navigate and locked down via artificial story-gating. Confusing samey-same delves that will keep yiou running in circles for days while you search for the boss.
    3. Vvardenfell-- cute guars and interesting architecture or no, this is a much bigger and almost-as-ugly Stonefalls. Yuck. The Ashlanders and pretty Vivec can't save it.

Similar to my thoughts. I'd add that Stonefalls literally has a "find wine casks" quest, and I believe a "kill bats" one as well.

But I dislike Murkmire even more than the ones you cited.

Greenshade/Malabal Tor. Mainly cuz cliffs and rocks block everything, making it hard af to get to a place. You have to do some weird route or go through a maze full of NPCs that snare and eat your mounts speed to get to 98% of the places in those zones.

Grahtwood, Greenshade and Malabal Tor. Can't find a spot with flat terrain and also no way you can advance a yard without getting attacked by a hoarvor or getting pulled by a strangler. It takes ages to get to a survey map there. I really don't like those three areas.

Craglorn, because it's mostly group areas, and it just doesn't really seem to have much of a specific local flavor other than being a land with a bunch of monsters standing around for no apparent reason. (Love the camels, though.)

    Craglorn:

The storyline was always too weak and far fetched, and then it was hacked into incoherence when they changed some of the zone to "solo" difficulty.

I do play solo, but try to do as much of the zone content as possible, to turn the map white. Most of it is just a series of long, grindy combats, mechanically working my way through my character's rotation. No thought, virtually no story content, nothing to discover, and very meagre rewards. Just a lot of button mashing. Not my style at all.

The only reasons I do it are for the sake of completion, the sky shards and the nirncrux.

There's no Lore to take way, no characters reappearing in other zones, no story lines that links to other zones. Very poor stuff. I'm glad ZOS recognised that this style of "Adventure" zone was a dead end. Compared to all the other zones in the game Craglorn is just crap.

    The ugliests in my opinion:
1.Rivenspire (altough I liked the story there)
    2. Reaper's March (for me it is a little bit of an unpolished mess)

    Collecting survey/treasure maps(revisit/travel experience):
    1. Reaper's March (the wayshrines are terrible)
    2. Malabal Tor (I know it is a jungle and full of enemies, but after 2,5 years its too annyoing for me)

    Story:
    1. Eastmarch
    2. Malabal Tor

I would say Malabal Tor as it is the zone that I forgot most often, also Reapers March have a great and crafting hub (but apart from that it is the 2. on my worst zone list)

Something about the ash/lava theme really bothers me. I can't explain it but I really don't like them. And the Nix hounds are the most annoying, ugly looking creature.

    - South/Mid Ravenspire
The land feels depressing except the northern end.

    - Glenumbra
I don't know. It feels....generic? And haunted. Defiantly haunted and rotting.

Shadowfen. There are way too many deceptive puddles which will dismount you if you run through them. I appreciate what the devs did with Murkmire and how they made the swamp puddles shallow enough to ride through on your mount. I wish they did a "puddle audit" in Shadowfen and brought them up to the same standard as the ones in Murkmire.

      Coldharbour.
For appearance and game reasons. Annoying cliffs, ravines and other obstacles along with the monotone colour. Just horrible. Which I suppose is very fitting since it's Molag Bal's oblivion. I sure feel miserable there.

Story and lore-wise it's an interesting place.

In terms of navigation: Shadowfen, Murkmire, and most of Valenwood--too much dismounting. In terms of landcape: south Rivenspire, Elsweyr, Hew's Bane, Stonefalls, and part of Vvardenfell because I don't like the terain in those areas. In terms of story, I honestly don't remember particularly disliking the stories in any zone, but it's a long time since I did Cadwell's silver/gold.

During my first playthrough, I tried to make sure I did every quest in a zone before moving on to the next. Malabar Tor was the only zone I couldn't do that with, so I'd pick it on that basis.

There are parts of it I like and the game designers have done a great job, it's just not my thing I guess!

Rivenspire, almost entirely because it's so damn stressful with everyone and their mom there farming Necropotence.

I think the only other zones I've not been keen to explore are Glenumbra and Stormhaven- they feel super bland, though I don't know that I've ever actually been to eastern Stormhaven, so maybe things get more interesting. The Rift is a little bland too, but... Skyrim.

Honestly though, the only zone that I go to just to be there/do the quests is Craglorn. I love the atmosphere and find the quests really interesting.

      1. Malabal Tor - I just find it more annoying to get around the first time than anywhere else.
      2. Betnikh - as far as I know you can only get there the first time via the stupid boat on Stros M'Kai which I didn't realize existed for ages, or by porting to someone, and nobody is ever there.
      3. Craglorn - I mostly go there to get skyshards or psijic on baby toons and its an extra annoyong zone to do.
      4. Cyrodiil - because lag

Favorite zone - Vvardenfell I love how gloomy it is, but still has flowers everywhere.
