Yeah magicka already has all the class skills, while stam gets along with a few garbage weapon line skills but yeah let’s give them more lol.
Waste of time and effort
1h and Rune/Spell. It’s already in the game for npcs.
her name is Henneque Chamrond in Daggerfall
edit: here's another i just got todayin Elden Root npc name Gerinien, no sword on her character model before she attacks so the sword might be a summoned spell itself.
Reasoning please. Explain the benefit, requirement, and what you would propose as a curated skill line.
I can’t see any immediate reason why we need one. If you want a close range weapon, there are melee (stamina) weapons. If you’re thinking a spellsword type build, maybe propose a class or means to make hybrids viable.

That is, melee magicka classes aren't worth it to bring into most endgame group content. Stam dps pulls higher dps than magicka, so bringing mag into most endgame content is worth it only for the range and increased survivability. You take that away, and many groups view bringing a mag DK in with them as a waste, since they are just about as fragile as their stam dps while pulling less dps than them. This isn't always the case of course, there are groups who are fine with it. But it is the overwhelming trend. Adding a melee magicka weapon line would suffer from that same issue. Unless they made it incredibly OP, in which case there would then be few reasons to bring stam dps instead of mag dps. So, it would be very difficult for ZOS to successfully introduce this weapon line. Not impossible, but it's highly unlikely that ZOS could pull it off.

I can understand the Stamina bias, 4 weapon lines with 4 sub classes all having different perks, vs 1 weapon line with 3 sub classes all having different perks, if we were to have Spell Crafting.
Oh man, I don't even have enough bar space to pack my stamsorc and stamDK up with all the class toys we have avaible!
Anyway, I don't see why they shouldn't add melee magicka, spears, spellcrafting and other goodies. Except, of course, the inaptitude to balance things without making everything bland and the same.

Isn't the sword on her back? Once equipped in her hand, there is no sword on her back. While it looks smaller, not sure of angle or not, but no weapon on her back if that is a dagger.

Well now we don't. The game needs to be balanced around that fact, with melee magicka weapons or until Spell Crafting is introduced, which I believe will never happen.

The Ongoing Ability Audit™ is necessary for spell crafting. You can't balance spell crafting without having a baseline for abilities. It does not mean we'll get spellcrafting, but once they're done with that, spellcrafting could be a thing if they decide to do that, and considering how they listen to community wishes for content creation (level scaling, reoccurring characters, housing and outfits, dragons, Elsweyr and necromancers...) it could totally be a thing as they never said they would not do that. Actually they said it's "on the back burner", they're not working on it but I have a feeling they are changing the game with spellcrafting in mind.
