Maintenance for the week of December 22:
• NA megaservers for maintenance – December 22, 4:00AM EST (9:00 UTC) - 8:00AM EST (13:00 UTC)
• EU megaservers for maintenance – December 22, 4:00AM EST (9:00 UTC) - 8:00AM EST (13:00 UTC)

Players, if you are so angry or upset, why do you keep playing?

The vast majority of posts on the forum that I have read during today's maintenance are negative in nature.

So I wondered "Why does the player continue playing if they are not having fun anymore?".

Any thoughts?

Only reason I keep playing is cause there are no alternatives around and of cource, cause of my friends.

Because it is a good game and has always had the potential to be great.

IMO, ZOS put too much emphasis on making single player TES fans happy when in reality, this isn't that, it's an MMO.

You'll see less care about game direction when they do more F2p events and the remaining vets start leaving.

Conversely, if you go to Reddit, you'll see nothing but praise because that's an overwhelmingly casual environment that are uninterested in mechanics.

Most people are having fun, but that doesn't mean they shouldn't voice their opinion on the parts that aren't fun or that aren't working.

Atm alot of people are angry because their favorite MMO is a complete shitshow when it comes to performance, both of the game client and the servers. @ZOS_MattFiror @ZOS_RichLambert @ZOS_GinaBruno

Uninstalled ESO a few weeks ago to PvP as mage-like characters and classes in BDO and GW2. Have no interest on returning to ESO until magicka specs outside of MagSorc become viable or Stamina domination META that's been going on for nearly 2 years now comes to a close. Just saying!

The reason I'm still on these forums you ask? Because I'm afk processing in BDO right now making gains. So I have time to ready and interact with the forum communities of the games I played and still plays.

I like this game, and I want to continue to like this game. I find ESO a ton of fun; from ogling at Argonian hunks in Murkmire to end-game raiding with friends, there's a lot I still enjoy doing in this game.

Which is why it hurts more when something frustrating and literally game-breaking is ruining your enjoyment of the game. If we don't complain, it would mean that we don't care.

If no one voiced their opinion of the game, then ZOS would not know how we feel about the game.

Negatives have always more prevalent in forums.

See, your problem is that you think someone can't have fun AND complain. I still have fun in ESO, but would very much like not to have to deal with the performance issues and bugs.

I've already been away from the game for 2 years in its 5-year history. Not exactly brilliant, in my opinion, and a shame since I honestly do think ESO has so much going for it.

At this point I've cancelled my sub again and I'm seeing where the game goes as my ESO+ time runs out. I don't support the Clown Store, never bought a single Clown, and don't agree with playing an MMO for free - nor would I want to play without ESO+. So yeah, maybe I will take another break. Thing is, if many more of us who have reason to complain keep "taking breaks", the people who settle for "good enough" will find themselves retracing the steps of most other failed MMOs out there: a years-long experiment in milking players for as much as they'll pay.

It's simply because many people just LOVE complaining.

Because over the years many of us have played for a lot of time to develop our characters, formed friendships in our guilds, probably spent a bunch of money on subs and crown stuff so it is not necessarily that easy to just walk away - we'd rather that ZOS stopped screwing around, hired some people and got the game back to the levels it was at during it's peaks.

On the other side it does sometimes feel like being in an abusive relationship - where occasionally @ZOS_GinaBruno or one of the other friendly faces of ZOS come here and promise they will stop hitting us and to just give them one more chance - and we all want to believe it so we carry on playing....

And to be fair even with it's flaws it's still not horrible - it's just that it has been and could again be so much better.

Since I basically stopped putting money into ESO, it evolves into a hobby that gets cheaper (per day) every day.

Yeah, I am wondering that myself.

For a long time that feels like forever the performance of the game in general is degrading, with the most frustrating results in trials and in PvP.

Since 5.0.7 any form of competitive PvE raiding leads to frustration due to AoEs not being telegraphed correctly, positions of enemies desynced that result in missed interrupts.

The basic tool that is supposed to encourage people to do what MMO is for, the groupplay, is broken.

Since what it seems to be years already bugs like "stuck-in-combat" kill a lot of fun in any type of PvP, organized or unorganized, and on top of that today ZoS is "fixing" one thing that made that bug a little bit less painful.

The (almost) newest, challenging 4-man content (BRP) is full of bugs without even single acknowledgement from ZoS that they are aware of them and they are going to fix them.

The small incentives that made me visit previous, completely cleaned up, content, like Wrathstone dungeons, are getting pulled out of the game because "it was an issue that they were available", with complete lack of any information from ZoS when these will be back.

Instead of doing something small but interesting in form of events we are getting the replay of an event that was here few months ago, very repetitive, very boring, absolutely zero incentives to go for it except the grind for indrik stuff if anyone actually still cares about that. With so much content in the game there are hundreds of possibilities to create something very interesting and rewarding, with a very little effort, but no, we get the replay of DB/TG event.

So what's left... I am about to wrap up my questing in new chapter and I don't know what I will do next, if there is anything to do at all without getting annoyed about bugs over and over. Maybe its a time for break, yeah.

Ex old World of Tank player here.
I was really loving this game, it got a huge potential with all the early mechanic but dev just destroy it little by little with stupidly high power creep and the addition of P2W Tank (before that Tank from CS was credit and xp maker but perform a bit less than regular).

I've create many topic trying to point why it's bad, and I was not the only one.
Now this game have lost more than half is community (still great number) and it's look more than a racing game than a Tank game.

All of that to said, people don't cry for no reason, they cry and/or are angry BECAUSE they are worried and care about the game and really love it and don't want it to die like every other MMO on the market.

Dev these day can't make a parallel between income and quality. It's always a sh*tload of new CS item and few content.
Should we talk about class balance ? Performance ? Update and communication ? Bug ? Translation error ? and so on ?
    Better not right ?

The game is great, but they need to prioritize the perf imho.

=> Also their is some idiot who just love to whine like in every game, not the same thing.

It's almost like people can enjoy the game and still be dissatisfied with the state of particular aspects of ESO. What's wrong with that? You don't end your life, just because you're annoyed at the weather.

I get jacked up every time I see this. I have been pugging dungeons since the group finder was introduced and only had an issue once. One time where it was genuinely bugged.

"This problem doesn't apply to me, therefore it doesn't exist."

Yeah well, about that. I'm happy you don't have problems with the group finder. Some of us can click the "join queue" button a million times and it'll just spit out an error message and never let us join. Or it sends us a hundred ready checks, but the actual dungeon or BG never pops. It is a real problem.

It's not all bad. The core game is really amazing, it is just plagued by missmanagement in my opinion. After five years it's not that easy to just move on, especially with the current MMO market.
