Uninstalled ESO a few weeks ago to PvP as mage-like characters and classes in BDO and GW2. Have no interest on returning to ESO until magicka specs outside of MagSorc become viable or Stamina domination META that's been going on for nearly 2 years now comes to a close. Just saying!

The reason I'm still on these forums you ask? Because I'm afk processing in BDO right now making gains. So I have time to ready and interact with the forum communities of the games I played and still plays.

I don't blame you. I can't even bother to fully level a Magicka Necromancer because it sucks so bad.

Why do people think product sellers don't want to hear negative feedback? If something isn't selling, they generally want to know what's wrong with the product. This isn't a "labor of love" and they aren't working for free.

When ESO works properly, I still have a ton of fun with my friends.

When ESO doesn't work properly to the point I can't play, I apologize to my friends, log off for the night, and go play Warframe instead.

Pretty much. So many games, so little time.

Vanilla WoW won't keep most people busy for long.

Players are already proving they don't have a clue what the game was still like in the Cata era; let alone at launch.

They've been reporting standard (for the time) game features as bugs...

Blizzard are only doing it to shut the people, who keep asking for it, up.

...and to reduce the calls from people demanding the retail version is returned to the vanilla era (i.e. no LFG, LFR etc.).

Now, people will just be able to say "Go back to Vanilla, if you like it so much...".

People invested a lot of money into this game. First the game is not free, add to that the Expansions, DLC, ESO+, other cosmetics etc. They wanna play because they payed for it. I bet there are people that gave ZOS thousands of dollars. People like me that have the game since launch they payed for the vanilla game like 80 bucks i believe, add to that Morrowind, Elsewyr and ESO+. Damn, I think i'm in for few hundreds as well, without cosmetics and such.

That's why we're still playing it. We purchased a product that we thought is good and now we want it to be good.

well bringing up negative posts in a forum doesn´t mean one doesn´t have fun in game.

and there are several reasons for people to stick around, for me it´s the social bounds (5 years is a long time), time/money invested, lack of equal or better alternatives and most and for all-> i still do have fun in this game( i play like 80% of my time in off peak so lag/ performance doesn´t bother me too much )

Over the time I've been playing ESO, I've shelled out about...hmmm...140 quid or thereby. Latter works out at around 14 quid a month, or 3-4 quid a week. Only 25 quid or so of this was a required purchase. Everything else was of my choosing.

For my 3-4 quid a week, I get an average of around 60 hours of game play. I'm paying ZoS the equivalent of somewhere around 6 pence an hour. If I stripped the cost down to purchase of the base game, I'd be paying ZoS 1-2 pence an hour.

When the servers go belly up, it's a real pisser. When there are bugs, it's a real pisser. When performance is an issue, it's a real pisser. Side note: I don't play virtual Cowboys and Indians (aka PvP) so my performance is very good; even on a rig running a GTX750Ti paired with an oldish, Skylake CPU. I sacrifice graphics quality for fps, so my fps is very good. Game crashes are rare - 3-4 in 6 months. Disconnects are almost always the result of my laziness - I need to swap out a DSL splitter or move the router to the master, phone socket.

Put your consumer purchase* (that's what it is) into perspective. A meal for two in a decent eatery will set you back 80-100 quid. If it's crap, that's 80-100 quid wasted with zero recourse, except not going back. Many people spend 50 quid, and more, on getting smashed, each and every weekend.

We're not paying ZoS several quid an hour; we're paying the company pennies. And ESO is a hugely complex jumble of computer code that hardly any of us understand. The biggest mystery, for me, is how the hell the damned thing works most of the time. My up time is probably around 95% Not bad given how little I have shelled out per hour.

The game should work, but the cost per hour of game play is minuscule.

*There is a strong element of emotional investment in video games - I get it myself. Character customisation means we take ownership of the characters we create. We live vicariously through those characters. That's probably why players don't just walk away when the game stops working. Interesting from a sociological perspective. There's a future PhD in the making - "The emotional psychology of video games"

Even better is why they continue to come to a forum about the game to moan, even when they quit..

..because there isn't a decent alternative, at all.

At a push you could say the moaning is just passion as folks love the game and want it to be perfect. But even unperfect its better than the rest.

Certainly on console anyway. Nothing compares.

Why you ask? because when something is wrong it should be fixed.

At the very least, the dev's should have a persuasive argument ready to defend their definition of "working as intended"

I already stopped my eso+, have zero crowns on my account and don't plan to buy any and to be honest, as soon as I finish most of the quests I'm done with eso. But in the meantime it's frustrating that pvp is in such a bad state, and the game is lagging all the time and they can't fix their game without breaking everything. Sometimes it feels like they doing it on purpose, because I can't believe that they are not learning from their mistakes and just continue doing the same sh.

People who are happy generally don't feel a need to say or do anything about what makes them happy. People who have an issue with something however, always feel a need to say or do something to change, or with hopes to change it. That doesn't mean they hate the game, but they do have an issue and wish to let it be known. I enjoy a lot of this game, that doesn't mean I can't be critical of it in hopes of seeing improvements someday.

And to be completely honest, developers need to hear more about whats wrong then whats right. But that said, an occasional pat on the back is good for moral.

    Waiting for Ashes of Creation.

More precisely a MMO in a fantasy magic no "modern" world involving competitive balanced PvP where solo and small-scale has an impact with some choices for Magicka classes.

For exemple the battlegrounds from GW2 where every roles is playable in the same BG (team fights, support, duelist, tank, rogue) is my favorite type of PvP. Deadmatchs in eso is just stacking AoE, turtling waiting for ult with 3 allies.

We as the community have been trying to change things for several years. However we as community are not as important as shareholders and whaleplayers who spend thousands. Ergo we are not important enough to be heard, and thus we quit.

there are different ways to deal with frustration.

I stopped buying additional crowns, like to buy the tropical island as I did before. I combine this with messages why I am frustrated, so that ZOS gets an idea of why they are losing the loyalty of players like me.

I certainly would be pissed and stricter if I would play more PVP. Lag shall be very bad currently. But my first interest in Cyrodiil has faded after this alliance lock nonsense was introduced. Good intention, crappy realization (kicking innocent players out).

So now I focus on overland PVE, and performance for that is ok again since last weekend. So I keep my subscription for now, as I need the craftbag (almost reached mastercrafter achievement).

If it can't be fixed cut the loss and buy a better machine. [snip]

This question. Like clockwork, it is.

There's a lot about this game that's amazing. The world is a genuine joy just to live in for a while every day.

And yet, every patch since Morrowind seems designed to make gameplay less enjoyable.

Right now, the parts I enjoy about the game balance out the parts I don't enjoy. I'd like this to continue. I'd like the parts that aren't very good to improve, tipping the game into greatness territory, but instead the gameplay is actively going the other way. Slowly, like a frog in a slowly-heating saucepan, but still, the balance will tip some day. I complain because I want this trend to stop. I complain because this growing imbalance is because of active, intentional choices being made at ZOS.

I complain because I love this game and want to go on loving it, and ZOS is in danger of preventing that through their own choices. If I ever stop caring, I'll have no reason to complain. When people stop complaining, worry.

Why does any of this still need to be said?

I keep complaining because ESO is actually my favorite MMO of all time. Just there are some things that irk me about it that make it to where I can't play the game.

However, I am vocal about these things because I hope it'll bring change to the game.
