Alessia bridge to be destroyed!

Will anything be done to make bridge repair attractive to the players? So we are able to play more strategically. Is the repairing of bridges free? I can't imagine the majority wanting to spend gold or AP on repairing them, if they receive no AP, especially after the reduction to defensive ticks. People are already reluctant to repair, since the repairs for walls and doors cost more than they give.

I also think this will limit the few paths that we have to reach keeps and put us on more predetermined gank paths the whole night. Isn't the whole point of PvP supposed to be that we could strike anywhere at any time?

Basically, the opposers will be like "Ok. We blew up the bridge. So now they can only come from here. Let's wait at X marks the spot for them." I'm not seeing any strategical options yet for the keep sieging groups, unless we're still missing some key information about how repairing will become attractive for them, or if some other compensating factor will be in place."

I'll still give it a try first, and see for myself if these changes are good or bad for Cyro.

Oh one more question. Has the development team thought of having the original campaigns and the new style campaigns up? So people have more choices in PvP Cyro as opposed to the very repetitive nature of a single campaign type.

Last time i checked one could still glitch through slaughterfish infested waters in Cyrodiil, simply widening the river won't make a difference and neither will adding rocks to the shoreline.

Why do you think they are nerfing shields? To get all those streaky Sorcs out of Cyrodiil so they can't bypass their new bridge mechanics. :)

People are forgetting just how narrow the river is at Alessia. You don't need the bridge to cross, people just jump across with their mounts. Its a common tactic to bypass the farmers.

See the dev comment in this thread. Not for long...

I've waited my whole life (well over 4 years of it), to blow up the damned Alessia bridge, now I finally can.

As they are currently implemented, they will not self repair over time.

    Great :)
What about some additional alliance ranks ?
50 ranks are not enough :/
I proposed more ranks and additional rewards many times, but I never received an answer, like: "we will not have more ranks" or "this an interesting idea, we will think about it".
Overall, it is possible to add more ranks if it's being done properly.

Wheeler said they changed it... no more river crossing spots.

Hmm...can you give the towns a limited range respawn area similar to Forward Camps to cut down on these locations being used primarily as DeathSpawns to bypass bridges?

So, why wouldn't repairing bridges provide AP.

How does the repairing of the bridge differ significantly from repairing a keep wall/door?

Since bridges are more out in the open than keeps, wouldn't it make more sense for them to offer AP for repairs than even keep walls/doors? (I maintain both should).

    :)

So people can't just destroy a bridge just so they can repair it.

I imagine it's because bridges and milegates can take friendly fire (unlike keeps/resource towers) - so in theory, same alliance players could coordinate to just sit there and destroy/repair to boost AP.

I can understand they don't wanna have birdge-emps but maybe it would be an idea to make bridge/Milegate-repair grant some kind of minor reward just not AP?

I'm really hoping they thought of some kind of incentive, otherwise they should've just removed the bridges since it would have the same result.

Interesting, I look forward to seeing this in-game! The bugs that this introduces will probably be equally interesting :P

    *Future Patch Notes*

-Fixed a bug in Cyrodiil that caused all players within a 200m radius of a bridge to spontaneously die upon its destruction.

    One can only hope. >:)

But more importantly, will you get AP from all those people who got eaten by the fish when you destroyed that bridge.

If you damaged them while doing so, probably.
But if you just knocked down the bridge, maybe not.

Odds are this will just make controlling the towns a Must and everyone will just deadspawn their way around the map.

I find the damage from the slaughterfish big enough as it is. Also, it should give you some notice where those fishes are. I am all the time scared to enter in water afraid of those darn things to start biting.

Thank you for the clarification. While I worry about a lack of incentive to repair bridges, infinite AP is worse by far.

Meh. Bridges ceasing to exist due to never being repaired actually impacts the gaming experience.

Then again, people serious about getting their zerg across will repair the bridge.

I feel like I need to log in immediately after the patch to witness the mile gates and bridges destroyed for the first time and the last time before everyone starts just taking the "goat paths" to avoid repairing them spending resources that cost AP with noting in return.

What is going to happen is someone is going to log on with one faction character to repair the bridge so that they can tell their main faction to zerg across the bridge they just fixed.

Will Cyrodil be completely reset when the patch goes live?

I guess the implementation will largely be affected by how long does it take to repair a bridge?

If a large force can bring a bridge back up in 5 minutes, it's not a big deal.

As for the "it costs AP!!!", if that's your counter... you don't realize how much AP people have sitting around.

@ZOS_BrianWheeler rip daggerfall covenant. thanks for killing my main faction since theres no point to repairing the bridge so ad and ep will just collide on us together thanks giving even less incentive to go into pvp even more than the lag and bugs.
