Would have been nice to balance it with a hireling atleast from the start though, but I really do believe the droprate is bugged

Sure, it could be intentional and I'd believe that ZOS could do that, but without any comment on the matter, I have to assume for now that it's a bug they still do not know about. That's why this thread is important. So that ZOS can see that people are seeing this issue and they need to be aware of it and look into it if it is not working as intended.
I've actually gotten a lot of surveys... on my tier-1 writs (which are definitely profitable).
I have just one character doing max-tier, so I can't really comment about that due to the lack of data points.

If master writs were done on purpose like that, and not just lazily copy-pasted from Alchemy ones, then they were an extremely short-sighted design decision.
I've now done one normal jewelry writ. I'm not going to do another.
Unless/until there are more nodes for the mats, and the rewards are a improved quite a bit, it really isn't worth it. Whether its the drop/spawn rates, or because so many people are farming I have gone hours without finding a single seam. I'm not going to mention getting the "tempers" or platings or whatever they're called.
The research is about the only thing I'll be doing, and that will be as I find or trade with guildies to get the traits. Getting the trait mats is another pain.

Totally agree. Bad thing is daily writs always give you the resource that is lower than your crafting level. Say your on copper, but I have stacks of pewter. Nodes are super scarce because rarity, bots and players farming. Geez the bots keep advertising stacks of this stuff in craglorn all the time. I just won't buy from them because I won't support that bs. A hireling would help a little bit. Makes no sense they didn't add that in the skills.

I don't think you fully understand the issue that is being discussed here. JC writs do not reward in a similar way to wood, cloth or blacksmithing. Because of this difference, it's assumed to be bugged. It's a very legitimate concern.

Rewards are based on the completeness of ones knowledge in the field. If you have JC @lv50 and no traits researched youre really no better off than being JClv5 with 2 traits researched ( no data for exact comparison). So yes, I understand.

the way I'VE seen JC work, is that as a necessity due to gold restrictions, I've had to stagger my research and levelling. So far I have 5 max JC and 10 at alternate levels. So i'd say a better sample size that someone with 15 full JC's. I can see the diff. The more research done the more I seem to get purple / gold upgrade mats. It's just how it seems to be.
