How TES6 will affect ESO population

It will affect, but i doubt most people will play it 24/7 for more than two weeks.

If you are refering to the E3 rumors, no.
While 95% of all rumors regarding Bethesda are true, this one is most likely not. I trust them when they say, there will be 2 other titles before that. We will however surely see Starfield being revealed and if leaks are to be believed, it'll be alot like the typical Bethesda RPG we love.

Skyrim Together is coming soon. Bethesda managed to deny them the Steam entry. But it will come anyway, still I think it won't be drawing much population.

Well, I was playing Skyrim lately again - both has something to it, single-player and MMO. With this said, we did most likely not all play the same Skyrim, because a whole lot are using mods, which are changing the experience due to personal preferences and so Skyrim can become a different experience with a different set of mods. MMO is a again another kind of experience. Both do not have to get in the way of the other - even TES VI will have a med-term effect on ESO, but it depends a lot on what Bethesda will be presenting in TES VI. 2 years ago Todd Howards still said, they don't have the technology for it yet. so I don' think, that we will get a TES VI anytime soon - somewhere in the 2020s - and who knows, if it will take place in Tamriel at all. Nirn is a planet with serveral continental land masses and different races than just those 10 living in Tamriel.

They absolutely have the technology for it, lol. Witcher 3 came out in 2015.

Well, there are a couple of good game engines out there, but I guess, Todd Howard was talking about their very own engine.

I started playing ESO exactly cause after Skyrim I wanted something more

If next single player TES game comes out, I will only log in to claim daily rewards in ESO (if this game doesn't change for the better of course, maybe it will still be worth playing by then).

If it will be released I am 90% sure it will be till new generations of consoles - (PS5 & new Xbox) - Those are also rumoured here and there so if There there is going to be a new TES6 game eventually - it will probably work on new consoles
(but those are just assumptions)

ES VI is not going to happen for a few years yet.

Much as I'd love a TES6 announcement this E3 or something, it's not happening anytime soon. BGS said they're going to be doing two big new games, things they haven't done yet, before trying to start ES6, because they said today's technology doesn't fit their vision for ES6 yet (I wonder what they must be planning for it if they need such new tech?)

So it could still be some years from now. Rumor is BGS might be announcing the first of those 2 things this year, but we'll see.

But whenever it does get released, I'll still play ESO too. I'll probably take a break from it for a month or two, I usually do that every few months already, but playing the two games are t mutually exclusive.

That could be 5 or more years from now though, most of Tamriel, if not all of it, may already be released in ESO, and a few of the Beyond Skyrim mods for different provinces will probably be out by then too. Cyrodiil, High Rock and Hammerfell, Atmora, and maybe a couple others. Makes me wonder what Bethesda will plan to keep ES6 new and interesting. Akavir maybe? Maybe just go straight out and release all of Tamriel in TES6?

TES VI ain't coming until 2024 or 2027. By 2024 ESO will be 10 years old. Whether or not the game will have died down by then, I can't say. There probably will be alot of people who will leave ESO to play TES VI for a while, but hardcore MMO players will continue to play the MMO of their choosing no matter what. The MMO will more likely kill itself rather than any competition. It also depends on whereabouts TES VI is set. BGS might decide to travel to another continent, so that theres no "conflict" between ESO and TES VI, "sure we gave you TES VI, but if you want to explore Tamriel, go play ESO!" It also depends on whether or not TES VI doesn't meet up with gamer expectations like what happened with Fallout 4. If BGS decide to hammer down on ripping out RPG mechanics, remove all skills, no player choice whatsoever, destroying the previous lore of the province for something mundane and familiar, and just focus on making an open world "build your own" sandbox style of game, then that could bring players back to ESO a bit quicker than expected.

Due to mods, I played ESO for 3 years. I love mods and I love modding.

The only reason I play ESO, in all honesty, is because the industry just doesn't make any interesting single player games in my particular style anymore and ESO is the closest I can get to Skyrim.

I just don't see the industry at large every getting back into making truly epic single players. The income that can be made on MMO's far exceeds what can be made from single player games.

That's not to say there aren't a few companies like Bethesda that make EPIC single player games, just that the number of those companies can be counted on one hand and the output rate is few and far between.

Are there others who only play ESO because they are waiting for the next great single player? Of course there are but while that number may be noticeable I do not think it would really harm ESO much as those players really constitute a smaller base as compared to the whole.

But like otheres have said that is a long way off and I have things to kill so I am fine where I am for now.

yea when es3 and oblivion were still roaring strong i modded them and those 2 had major replayability that lasted me years of time but when skyrim came out i played it once through the story was meh and kinda boring the sidequests were just eh at best. then the modding community came along and gave it another week for me then i was like why am i even still playing skyrim so i bought eso on console first never touched skyrim again. then they started monetizing their mods for skyrim so. really i see es6 coming maybe in the year 2030 but the max life that game will have is alot shorter than any other elder scrolls game for the reason being they started monetizing mods meaning theyll start outlawing the communities mods. so play the game through once and beat it and never touch it again cause the replayability is gonna be crap or pony up money to them to mod your game to extend the life maybe a week to a month.

Ignoring rumours, how will TES6 impact ESO? I reckon the overall population would cut down by a notable portion to play TES6 for a time. Although most of that reduced population will probably return for future ESO content that stretches beyond TES6. It might even prove tactful to release content for ESO in between TES6's expansion packs for ES Fans that do play both. I mean, it probably wont end up being new ESO content in between each expansion since I think Bethesda has released expansions like, a couple of months apart from each other and ESO has season quarter content updates.

But ESO will probably strive on to fill out Tamriel (and hopefully Akavir) after TES6 and it's content is done, ya know, If it's actually announced anytime soon in the next few years.

Anyway, i'd be 10'000% okay with a TES6 pre-order item/costume unlocked in ESO (like the Dragon Warrior outfit codes from Skyrim SE... despite that not being exclusive to that)

I don't think there are any leaks regarding Starfield. Everything I've seen that was a "Starfield leak" has been confirmed as fake.

In fact, we don't even know for sure if BGS' next game is actually Starfield. It's only speculated that their next game is called "Starfield" because it's one of two trademarks for Bethesda Softworks that has been around a while that hasn't been used for a game yet. There's also "Giant Monster News" which is a trademark that has been around since they did Fallout 3.

I'd say it's about a 50% chance that BGS' next game is Starfield, and that there's a 50% chance BGS will shock the world by announcing something that isn't called Starfield. I think Todd Howard wants to actually surprise everyone by what they announce for once instead of everyone figuring it out by looking at IP rotation patterns and/or coming across leaks.

Could be as well a mobile game - I mean to remember that Todd Howard said something in the direction of maybe doing something for mobile again following up on the success of Fallout Shelter. And they said as well, that they do not want to be just the Fallout/Elderscrolls gaming company but want to be more than just this. I just hope, that they do not waste their time with it - doing 2 things really well is better than doing plenty, but just average.

And maybe they think that at the time being there is no real room for a new TES game - ESO is still popular if not even more than before. In the end both, BGS and ZOS belong to the same family - Zenimax - it would not be that good to have "inhouse" concurrence by no good reasons. Competition is good, but to be in concurrence going for the same wallets would be bad.

TES6 will have the same problem as all the others in the face of ESO though, single player games are only fun until the newness wears off and then you're back to the game that offers a similar experience with a social multiplayer component.

If it were after me, I'd try to integrate TES6 with ESO somehow, so that they don't lose those players. Something like giving players the ability to export their characters to ESO once they're done playing through the single player content of TES6. I'd like that, the option to level-up a character playing through TES6 and then take him to ESO and continue to experience content there. Obviously, the games would have to be very similar (same classes, skills, races, combat system, etc), though without including CP, just lvls 1 to 50.

I for one will be playing TES6, but I have no intention on giving up ESO. I'll be back in a couple of weeks and I will still log-in daily in the meantime (especially with the new daily rewards).
