Why do skyrim players dislike Eso?

The answer to your question is simple, and three fold. First, not as many Skyrim players hated ESO as your post implied. We were a TES family. We all played. Now we all play ESO.

Second, for those people who did hate this game after it came out was because of the forced participation in groups to get items. They were asking players who played solo to depend on other players for their stuff. Not one of our family liked that. To this day not one person in my family has participated in pvp, or anything else that required a group to get items. Instead we played with out the items. We have never played in Imperial City and have played actively since Beta. I should make note that our family members range in age from 30 to 60 years old.

Pretty much if we HAVE to pvp to get this or that item, we won't have that item. If we HAVE to group up for this or that item, you can bet we will never have that item. The only way we will group up is if it's guild members (mostly our family) or with friends. We're not doing the pug thing unless we only need one more player. That's trouble waiting to happen. In short, people who prefer solo games will never like pvp or forced grouping.

Third, we will always resent the RNG thing because we believe if we meet the requirements, we should get the item. In this game, the requirements are unpublished and always change (according to ZOS). Read that "changing the rules of the game". Solo players don't like a game where the rules always change. In real life, no one else does either. Would you play Scrabble if the rules were different for player A than you? How long would you work at a job if employee had a different (and better) employee handbook than you? They get better pay for less work than you?

Yes, this is "just a game" but it costs time and money and people don't want to invest time and money into something that makes them unhappy. We are not happy with PvP or anything that forces grouping. We believe it is unfair (and is a broken promise) that we must do those activities to get those items.

Played all Elder Scrolls. Loved them. One of my long time gamer tags came from my character in (offline) Morrowind. I have used that name in every game, MMO or not.

I did adore Skyrim. Hated to stop playing it but I had maxed everything. There was nothing left to do, no enemies to concur, homes to build, children to adopt or pets to save. My wife said the same things to me every time I came home. I needed a new home.

Welcome to ESO. Still pretty. Game play is on par compared to what is available. No groundbreaking mechanics however, I see a committed community, dedicated developer team and a shot at this game going another 5-7 years. Not a bad future considering the number of MMO's that never make it to year 2.

So OP, loved Skyrim, adore ESO. I do not understand your complaint.

Well put. I like ESO, but it's not the game I wanted.

The fundamental point is that TES players, by definiton, don't group well. We're all Fake MMO players.

    1. No Daedric Artifacts are available to acquire as rewards. Skeleton Key, Oghma Infinium, or the Ring of Hircine as just a few examples.
    2. No Followers you can hire or earn by getting status with the authorities that you can give weapons, armor, accessories. They could also carry some of your loot you gained during quests.
    3. Enemies you can actually loot. Their weapons, armor, anything. And harder enemies held better items, and more items as well. For example Dwarven Centurions and Dragons in Skyrim had better rewards/loot/gold when you defeated them. What do you get for defeating Centurions in ESO? One piece of junk worth 9 gold.
    4. We now have some storage in our houses but I would like some more RP elements to the houses such as servants, guards, family members.

Cause they can't play how they want, for example running with 2h sword and casting magic spells.

    Basicly this.

The game preached how we'd have great freedom and what was advertised was a system similar to Secret World's where the only limitation was our ability to theorycraft.

What we got was a system which's meta constrains with every patch, regulating those who actually want to do what the game advertised to normal content which players continuously call to buff to force those same players out.

Someone above put it best. What we wanted, was Skyrim with multiplayer elements. What we got, was a MMO with ES elements.

Because this game requires more skill?

Just sniping with a Bow from sneak is the best way to play Skyrim, it's awful in ESO.

People would *** a brick if they actually had to do long range sniping the way its done in Skyrim... You have to know your arcs, know the relative pull strength of your bow (yes some bows had greater velocity and therefore were straighter longer) etc. I disagree with this premise. In one sense you are right that Bows were way deadlier in Skyrim but in another sense the player actually had to have more skill to be a sniper, you couldn't just 'tab target to win'.

I don't know why people would knock players of either game and I call *** on this whole topic. I think a lot of people came from Skyrim and love ESO, they love both games. There are players of ESO who don't like Skyrim and there are players of Skyrim who don't like Eso. This is because they are HUMAN BEINGS with their own sensibilities and different likes and dislikes. Mountains are being made out of molehills here.

Ah, the apples and pears :) Simply put: Skyrim is a CRPG and ESO isn't. While ESO masks its fetch and kill quests better, it has nothing on A Night To Remember for example. It does have a whole lot of other things though. In the end you really can't compare the two, but sadly that's what people try and then they get disappointed depending on which angle they prefer.

I used to be a "skyrim player" in the sense that I used Skyrim as reference for any TES game, but I'm no longer that because I got through every TES game afterwards.
Anyways, my initial argument for why this game "sucked" was because sneak classes were very good in Skyrim and they added to the immersion more than other styles/classes. This made the game (for me) feel like a semi-horror and dynamic game, but seeing the sneak mechanics completely *** die and non-existent in ESO made me hate it. I have turned away from the sneaking classes, but I do still think there should be more sneaking mechanics.

This I don't get. How exactly are they really more racist than any other nation/race in TES universe? Everyone is racist or very nationalistic in TES. I'd say the least racist race would probably be Imperials, yet they still feel justified to keep different nationalities under their banner, no matter what they wish, which is kinda racist in itself. If not racist, at least totalitarian.

Bottom line, every single nation in TES universe thinks their culture is superior to all the others.

I think they dont like it because its not a typical TES game, as its a MMO

    Skyrim has:
    • Better quests
    • Better NPCs, with more depth
    • A real feel for the environment, you genuinely feel the cold while playing. Dont feel a thing in Eastmarch in ESO.
    • Better soundtrack
    • Better graphics (no idea why you said ESO has better graphics lol! Not even close)

All these things make the game feel so much more immersive.

FYI - There is no such thing as 'night capping' in a world wide MMO.
FYI - There was no paid Beta. When they launched the game the Beta was over, even if you don't think it was.
    FYI - It's B2P not F2P. There is a difference.
FYI - It doesn't take any player skill to mash keys or buttons in this game. The ones that stay alive longer have the better internet connection and speed.
FYI - The game is not broken, it still works. It just has 'bugs' that need to be fixed.
    Balance is a "Bad" thing.

Example: There were hundreds of Jedi and only two Sith in Star Wars. The Jedi wanted, "Balance in the Force" and they got it. Now there are only two Jedi and two Sith.

Actually I find this to be completely wrong. ESO is way more limited than Skyrim when it comes to abilities you can use. Skyrims graphics are amazing, you are also comparing a game to ESO which came out 3 years later. The New Skyrim update is beautiful.

Skyrim felt more alive and vibrant then ESO. Characters didn't just stand around in the exact same spot all the time as they had a time table. The Jarl for example would sit on his throne but eventually go out a few times during the day, Sleep at night etc. The NPCS in skyrim remembered you more thoroughly depending on what choices you made. There are choices in ESO but they are very limited in comparison.

Skyrim's world was way more amazing every nook and cranny had a purpose, there were way more trees and wildlife than in ESO. For example when you go to Eastmarch its supposed to be a part of Skyrim yet it looks desolate in comparison to the game - Just look at the trees and how spread out they are in Eso, just terrible.

ESO takes away from the Elder Scrolls series.
Bethesda may have bought out Zemimax but a lot of developers are working on ESO now, Skyrim came out in 2011, then we got a remade up version many years later of the same game... People would like to see the next installment.

ESO is easy in comparison. Its mainly a gear grab and Money pit. Although ESO is fun for many whom like MMO's there are many more players that dont play MMO's then do play them.

I like ESO but not as much as the actual game series.

I've played both games, and I dislike Skyrim more than ESO.

Skyrim has some nices landscapes, and was pretty good as trek simulator. I loved all the mods for improve the game. Otherwise without mods (gameplay and graphics), it was a bad game, poor mainquest, dungeons were all the same (explore, kill monsters, kill the boss, loot the chest, and take the exit close to the chest), lack of colors in general, no remarkable npc, almost all of them were boring. And the game progression was too easy and fast. I think Syrim was the worst Elder Scrolls of the series.

In comparison, ESO give us more variety about landscapes and what we can do in game. The quests are more interesting (wrothgar main quest is awesome for example), more colorful world, and dungeons with a better design.

Disclaimer: Long time TES player (since TES 1: Arena and all TES games except TES: Travels) here.

I don't really hate ESO or I wouldn't be playing it, but there are many disappointing aspects about ESO for me:

    1) The world itself is/feels static. No matter what you do, there aren't any consequences to most of your deeds. Murder someone? He respawns 5 minutes later. Free Camlorn from Faolchu and his werewolves? Well, guess what... the city stays the same.

    2) The classes feel weird. Yes, TES games prior to Skyrim had classes as well, but those were only templates that provided some sort of guidance (and you had the option to create your own "class"). I dislike ESO's class system and I wish they'd created the schools of magic like they should, rather than integrating them into weird class skills.

    3) The combat is just generic MMO skill spam for the most part.

    4) In the DLC areas (at least in Orsinium, TG and DB) they should given the option to work for the opposing faction similiar to the civil war in Skyrim.
