PTS Update 17 - Feedback Thread for Outfit System

Outfit stations costing 1500 writ vouchers seems very steep for something with the same functionality as a dye station which costs 35 writ vouchers. I understand it has a new look and expected it be more expensive but this is excessive. I would think at most they would cost 300 along the same lines as the attuneable stations. I know the transmute station costs more, but it is rare (only found in Clockwork City) and the only station with that funtcionality.

Also is it intentional for the Hide Helmet function to only be available through the outfit system as I can no longer find it in the settings.

I enjoyed it, was relatively easy to create an outfit I loved.

Now I know which motifs I need to replicate the look on live. The gold cost could add up really quickly if you're someone who likes to change colours frequently. But at least it's relatively low enough. I honestly expected it to be more expensive.

Making outfit one the default section was so confusing. I won't be only complaining or thinking you want to charge for regular station. This will be a normal player reaction. It will also frustrate people who accidentally pay gold for dye changes on regular gear.

Only got a brief look before my characters stopped wanting to load.

Used the dye station in my home. At first I thought it was bugged, I couldn't access the armor or weapon menus. I guess I need to select an outfit slot from outside the station first? I didn't see any immediate option to create an outfit in station. The first tool tip also is also a little low, with text cut off at the bottom of the screen. Weapon swapping produces a UI error dialogue box.

Excellent system, very well done! It's great to finally be able to fully utilize the multitude of styles in the game.

I did find a minor bug where my Maelstrom lightning staff would revert back to its original style instead of the assigned outfit style (Ebonheart Pact) sometimes on weapon swap.

I would also like to request the "hide helmet" option for other gear slots. I could see uses for hiding chest, shoulders, belts (especially for floating buckle effect), and gloves as well. I don't plan on running around without pants or shoes, but maybe include the option for all slots for complete customization options.

I'm having the same bug. It happens with any wep/any style/any set. Sometimes after equiping/unequiping gear or changing things in the dye station, the "outfit" style for the wep bar you are on just disappears for the weapon. some of the time bar swapping around a few times fixes it, but mostly you have to unequip and equip again.

This bug does not happen w/ the gear slots, just the weapons.

It was fun! I love it. I can see that I will need to farm or buy a few more motifs. I especially love the part about the weapons! All of it! THANK YOU!

The only thing that seems off is that it costs gold to re-dye an established outfit later on. But it's not a lot of gold, relatively speaking... Others have mentioned it, maybe it's a thing.

Was the system easy to understand?
    Yep
Did you have any trouble finding an Outfit Station or accessing it?
    nope, all good
Did you find the Outfit System to be fun?
I was pleasantly surprised at how AWESOMO it is. Even small iconpreviews of the setpieces :open_mouth:
Did you use gold or Outfit Tokens to change your Outfits?
Gold, I do think the prices are fair, especially because we can preview that stuff so good.
Do you have any other general feedback?
I would like to see special motifs like Valkyn or the MSA weapons sooner or later :)

Was the system easy to understand?
Yes, it was easy to make your outfit. The only thing I couldn't find were the outfit tokens, and how to purchase a second outfit. People have mentioned there is a hide helmet option without the outfit station? I couldn't find it there though.

Did you have any trouble finding an Outfit Station or accessing it?
    No

Did you find the Outfit System to be fun?
    Definitely

Did you use gold or Outfit Tokens to change your Outfits?
Gold, as I couldn't find a way to get tokens

Do you have any other general feedback?
It would have been nice to be able to dye your weapons under the regular gear dye, like the shields already can be dyed. Though I am already very happy with the possibility to dye the weapons at all. :)

Dye Stations found in homes are visually unchanged, but have been upgraded to the full Outfit Station functionality.

A new furnishing with the visual of the new Outfit station is now available on the new Master Writ achievement mediator, Faustina Curio, with all of the above associated functionality. Purchase is unlocked by completion of the Alliance Style Master achievement, which can be earned by learning all 9 of the starting racial styles (not including Imperial)

The Price for the new Station is 1,2k Writ Vouchers. Ok pretty expensive.
However it has the Same Properties as the old one, which i can buy for 35 Vouchers, srsly who came up with this.

If I understand that correctly, the only Difference is how those Stations look. but that doesnt justify a 1165 Voucher Price Difference.

That's not true though. The question of tabards was asked, and Rich clearly stated that he didn't actually know where tabards stood in the hierarchy.

They said no such thing on the stream. They said that costumes override outfits, but on the question of tabards, they said that they weren't sure and would have to check (and then remarked that it'd be easier if we just tried it out on Monday and saw for ourselves).

There is some knd of bug that transmogged weapon/shield disappear and return to their original look, so you have to return to station and reload skins of it. Happens randomly after death in duels or retraiting.

You are right. Still it doesnt make any sense to create nice outfit just to be override by tabard.

    4. gold
    5. The "Are you sure? Are you sure you're sure?" prompts got a little bit irritating. It was the only part that wasn't nicely streamlined.

Just saw that the Bouyant Arminger Set is Cheaper to use than Ebonshadow...srsly this is by far the Hardest Style / motif to Obtain.

During the stream it was stated that: the Rrer and harder a Motif is to obtain, the more it costs to apply...so stick to that pls

My only (small) issue is that your character is unsheathing the weapon when you modify it. That means especially for greatswords, most of the blade is off-screen when you try to dye it.

The forumala with which ZOS determines what is a "rare/expensive" motif is as clueless as the skill advisor, which apparently suggests all the worst skills for your build.

Bear in mind that Celestial is also a "rare" 2k motif, and yes, Armiger, the most expensive and rare motif on the server right now, is placed in the middle.

    ZOS - what gives?

Yeah. Most 2k cost motifs shouldn't be 2k IMO. Ashlander, Morag Tong, Dunmer House armors, Ebonshadow, etc are all relatively easy to get or not very expensive. Yet Armiger and Militant Ordinator are only 1k. I don't know what the criteria are for these prices, but it certainly isn't rarity.

For those who are testing the outfit system, is it possible to equipe both outfit AND hat? Let's say I have a cool Wizard Hat and I want to equip both it and an outfit. Will it behavior the same way as equipping a hat and a costume (override helmet and work together)?

This is the official feedback thread for the Outfit System. Specific feedback that the team is looking for includes the following:
    • Was the system easy to understand?
For the most part, yes. I'd like some additional filters or search options. The only other thing I'm not entirely sure on is things like Argonian Helmet 1/2/3...are these the different styles depending on the crafting material? If so, maybe word it to Argonian Style Levels 1-10 (or whatever it goes to) instead of 1, 2, and 3.
Did you have any trouble finding an Outfit Station or accessing it?
No troubles finding it, but I was familiar with where the dye stations were. The icon isn't really all that intuitive though so without my existing knowledge, I probably wouldn't have found them as easily. The icon for the costume/hat dyeing in the outfit station might work better (the shirt).
Did you find the Outfit System to be fun?
Not sure about fun. Useful yes, time consuming, very likely because of the sheer number of options which is a good thing.
Did you use gold or Outfit Tokens to change your Outfits?
Gold. I could not find either the outfit tokens or the extra outfit slots on the crown store.
Do you have any other general feedback?
    • Outfit Dyeing: I do not like that I have to pay to dye my created outfits, on top of the charge to create the outfit in the first place. People can dye armor freely, and ESO+ can also dye costumes freely. Yet, either way, looks like gold has to be paid for dyeing these outfits. A previous poster brought up the fact that, depending on the lighting at the time you visit the station (or the location), dyes can look very different. Dyeing should remain free, just like armor (or linked to ESO+ like costume dyeing).
Additionally, the material dyes earned by "material deconstruction analyst" achievements not being applied retroactively. My master crafter who is rank 10/level 50 in all gear crafting has every single material dye locked. I've checked the achievement progress and it just says that I need to deconstruct a piece of [fill in the blank]. I mean, sure, I can make each of those things and then decon them for the achievement but that sounds kinda like a PITA workaround than 'working as intended'.
Last, one thing I figured out is that if you apply a dye to an item and then change it, the dye stays in place as you look at your different options. Small thing, but I really like that so I don't have to change it back to the color I already picked (unless I decide I want a different one).
    • Style Costs: I do NOT appreciate the fact that I have to pay more to use a motif that I've learned. Some of those motifs are expensive in the first place; multiplied by 14 chapters each, some of these motifs can cost hundreds of thousands of gold to acquire, or serious grinding to find them. If I earned them, let me USE them without incurring additional costs. I know the styles are rare because I know the work/gold I put into finding them.
    • Clear Slots: I'd really like an option to not just clear to go back to my existing armor, but clear as in, have it empty. If I don't want to wear gloves with my Coldharbour rags, please don't make me. Same goes for weapons - would love an option to hide them if sheathed so I can fit in a bit better around town.
And please fix the hide helmet option so it's back in settings - I rarely wear a helmet showing so it was a nasty surprise to log in and be reminded of the hideous headgear I have equipped. I'd rather not have to go to an outfit station if I want to switch this for shown armor, even if it looks like the cost is intended to be 0g.
    • More Options: As others have mentioned, I'd love the chance to use 'normal' clothing or disguises as an outfit if they've been found or obtained.
    • Viewing: I quite like being able to preview styles that I haven't learned yet. It's great to see what some of these look like without having to go online and search for them. However, one small issue is that when it comes to weapons, the viewing area is kinda small and the outfit station box covers portions of the weapon you are looking at. Plus, once you pull out your weapons, there doesn't appear to be anyway to sheathe them again without exiting the outfit station. I'd like a sheathe/unsheathe toggle while at the station and a way to scale the UI of the station (or a smaller window for it initially).
    • Crafters: This is very obviously intended to be a solo venture only. However, it would be awesome if there was a way to make an outfit for someone else. Not sure HOW that could work, but breathe some more life into crafting. Please.
    • Outfit Slots: Last thing. Again, it's small but appreciated. I can open my collections, which gives me a view of my outfit slots and I can change from which slot I am using on the fly. Thank you for not making us need to go to a station just to switch the slots.

All in all, I think it's a good start for a useful system but I would definitely like to see some tweaks and improvements to it before release.

In terms of visuals - proc effects work on an outfit the way they work on a costume.

Eg you still get the green shimmer from Vicious Ophidian when it procs.

Anyone able to confirm if the moondancer weapon effects work when different weapon skins are placed in the outfit slot?

Tabards in general need to be rethought, but in the meantime it would be nice if they were visually hide-able. They just take up too much real estate, especially now that we'll be able to create some really customizable looks. Just from the waist down would be better, since that part doesn't really completely cover the legs.

Or now we have a custom outfit creator how about an alliance themed shield and or shoulder with guild heraldry rather than a tabard
