Client performance (so ignoring all 'skill lag', etc) is definitely better for me this patch. I used to go grab a drink porting into a dungeon, now the loadscreen is shorter than the port animation. Similarly doing WGT pledge, the Kena fight felt a lot smoother than I've seen it in the past.

I was in Cryo last night. The campaign was full, but the framerate didn't drop below 30 fps on my side. Even I was able ito wave during a siege that was impossible before on that slideshow performance. Very well done. The only issue remains that the sound effects and even music gets turned off when there is huge number of players around. But the fps stays high in that case, so it isn't a breaking issue though.

If anyone still have perf issues on a decent rig I suggest to turn off all of your addons except the most essential one or two. I run Dressing room and a minimap only.

Actually it made my MagDK more powerful, because I can finally do my full barswap rotation in a middle of a zerg. It was extremelly fun to watch people dying around my (then-)win-by-pressure toon. Pressure my elven arse. :)

So far, I traveled to a couple of places that tend to stutter -- one really reliable one is around the back entrance to the Hew's Bane Outlaws Refuge (The pipe outside the city wall). Always get frame rate drop/stutter around there, which is weird because there's really nothing there, and rarely any large number of players in one spot -- just a few leaving or entering. But the game always stutters there -- has been for a long time. Still stuttering after the patch. Didn't notice any other improvements moving around cities where this tends to happen, either.

On the other hand, I started the Clockwork City quest, and even in the massive scrum around quest-marker NPCs, the game was smoother than it usually is in those situations. So something might be working more or less as intended.

I did notice while running around in the fetch-quest that leads up to entering the Clockwork City, that full textures were loading a bit slowly on some characters' clothing and armor, even with perfect 60fps and sub-150 ping. Might not even be noticeable on a smaller/lower-res monitor or at lower graphic settings. Made me wonder if they played with LODs a little to ease the load at longer distances.

Indeed in some places, there was stuttering no matter what and there still is. Also for me, there was the falling out of textures and respawning at a wayshrine, that hadn't happened for a long time.

The biggest issue would be that the patch-notes are once again incomplete. There are a lot more changes then they are telling us...

PVE performance is actually pretty good. Noticed it everywhere I went.

Cyro for the 1hr I played... Not sure I could spot anything. Ended up rage quitting as usual when I went...

Heavy Attack - Dark Flare - Vamp Bane - Toppling charrrr..Loading screen. Nothing changed.

Saw someone still chain themselves into a keep which is nice to see I can still do that next time I return.

I am noticing a much smoother framerate everywhere that does not have 300 people stacked on one point. So essentially the only place that lagged for me after the update was the clockwork city gates.

Just had an instant load screen when porting from Clockwork City to Mournhold. Never had a load screen between zones go so fast. RAM used is about a full 1 GB lower, as well.

Definitely was getting better performance last night until I exited the Evergloam world boss area via the portal, where my performance promptly took a nosedive. But before that it was fine! So I'm inclined to believe it's either a fluke or an issue with that cell, which I'll find out later.

But until that point, it was really smooth and responsive. Maybe I'll finally be able to weave Funnel Health properly!

client performance is better, is very noticeable. Server performance is bad as usual, but at least the framerate is more stable and the UI is a bit more responsive

I'm personally having zero issues with FPS or latency. Game is running smooth as butter today, and on a major patch no less. This includes both Cyrodiil and The Clockwork City with tons of people running around everywhere.

This totally. This game has never run better on my potato. I'm not jackin around, I don't think I lagged a single time in my 3 hours of play time last night. Which is a first.

I have never played more unstable finished game before.

Then you haven't played many games before. I have played many that are worse off than ESO in terms of bugginess, performance issues and feeling incomplete after release.

Is there room for improvement with ESO? ABSOLUTELY!
Is it the worst/most "unstable finished game" as you put it? NOT BY A LONG SHOT!

Stuff has definitely been spawning in faster on my screen, at least in major cities. The real test for me will be how things run in trials, where certain mob groups tend to take forever to spawn in. Some examples:

    -Varlariel's clones
-The additional enemies in the fight where you stack on the rock, just after the storm atro
-Any fight in MoL where additional enemies port in (including the shades in Rakkhat's back room)
-Mantikora and lamae during the Serpent fight
-Adds, the 4 transistors, and (during Saturday's fight) the General's freaking arms (which made for fun times as he did a shoulder rotation and knocked the tank backward without touching her) during the Assembly General.
-(Since the Horns patch) The animation and indicator for the mantikora's popcorn/quakey thing

If these scene graph changes speed up my on-screen arrival of even *some* of these and make it such that I'm not having to just drop my ground-based AoE and pray, I'll be absolutely ecstatic. If not? Kinda bummed.

"In this update, we’ve been hard at work improving the performance of the client."

Maybe we have a difference of opinion on the meanings of the words "hard at work" and "improving".

Agreed. 32-bit client is EXTREMELY unstable.

    32bit is so 90's tech.

ZoS is dropping 32-bit in a few months.

day after day, week after week, month after month, year after year people whine about ESO performance.

    They arent fixing it.

After all this time if you expect them to fix it you are a fool, if you think them telling you "we are working on performance" is a literal interpretation that its going to be fixed, you are a fool.

Nice people at ZOS, but what you see is what you get...

The only positive thing I noticed - 64bit client no longer crashes when I change video settings, this is very good :) Although on PTS changing video settings was smooth (just change texture quality and level of details, then apply - no black screen in the process), on live I still get black screen for a few moments after I change level of details :/

Unfortunately overall performance is even worse for me after this update - now I get moments of lag even in rather empty unpopular areas. Also when loading into area, before update my character was always instantly loaded while I was waiting for other players and NPCs to load. Now my character is completely invisible while I still wait for other players and NPCs to load... :D It was same on PTS - I just hoped it would be better on live.
Performance in Clockwork City is bad - lag happens very often, like in Cyrodiil prime time. I saw a high level guy spamming bow light attacks on mob and though "how did he get to such high level if he can't fight?.." Then I started attacking those mobs, was caught in same lag and was stuck in spamming light attacks myself until I weapon swapped :D

Performance during the fight with nightblade boss in new trial is simply awful, like a slideshow - I always use low settings in trials (and have manually edited particle amount to much lower number than possible in game settings) but during this fight even low settings don't help :|

yep, that happens when you load a city after login in, but that is not a performance issue.

My client performance is *much* better. ESO 2.2 and 2.3 introduced many performance issues that seem to have been resolved with this patch. My client performance hasn't been this good since ESO 2.1.

The way FPS is measured means that it is not always an accurate representation of client performance. It is possible to have a high FPS with crippling stutter. A lot of the stutter I've experienced in ESO since 2.2 has been resolved. The camera is smoother and feels more responsive.

I haven't played enough in one zone in 3.2 to tell if the 30-50% FPS drop bug that impacted some users has been resolved.

I'd also add the the vMA stage 9 archer mage nightblade add spawning there, at least yesterday they needed a 30 sec to spawn for me

As the positive feedback here from most of the posters confirms, ZOS are working on things that they can fix and have done a pretty good job by all accounts with this latest update. Unfortunately, they can't fix people's inadequate systems, network connection and routing, or intensive data-loading addons (or the huge saved variable files that accumulate with addons, see the separate thread for help with that).
