Doesn't really happen too often to me and usually my thoughts are along the lines "heh, I lived without it, turns out I didn't need it".

Initially when I woke up this morning and saw what they were doing for today on the twitter, I was like nope. And then later after some coffee I was like, well maybe, I mean I might be able to work these in with a character. And then I was like, remember all the mounts and pets you never ever use and would gladly give away or trade in just to clear them out of your "inventory"? But its dark and spooky, so I dunno yet. I'd like to say I have better will power than this, but today is being a little problematic.

None of you understand what an expensive mount is for.

Its for rarity. The fact that none of you are willing to buy it is the point. That's the selling point for those who do buy it. They want exclusiveness and are willing to pay extra for it. The fact you won't buy it means less people will have it. It makes it more unique. That's what those players want.

ZOS isn't doing this to make extra money out of greed. They're merely providing a service that a minority of people want. They're being all inclusive.

If ZOS wanted to be greedy they'd drop mount prices down to where you all WOULD buy them. Getting 10,000 people to buy a $5 mount gets them far more money than 100 people buying a $40 mount. Do the math yourselves.

They're marketing isn't dumb, they how much they could make. They know how much they could squeeze out of mounts to get the most bang for their time. But they don't. They give you all cheap mounts to buy, and those with the disposable incomes something they'd like too.

Its not greed, its accommodation. Its like first class in a plane. Its not that much more leg room, and you're just gonna sleep through the flight anyway. But you don't wish to be sitting with the peasants behind you.

You think someone willing to shell $40 for a mount is going to stick with it for more than a month? They get bored.. fast.

Also... something I forgot about. 4000crowns doesn't always equal $40. I just realized I have about 3200 unspent. There's nothing for me to spend it on currently (that I really want, and I don't really like anything in the current crown crates). So... if a 4000 crown mount comes out next month that I like. I might spend my crowns I've saved up over the course of my ESO plus membership.

That's an angle I (and many in the thread) didn't consider. I'm not a whale by any means. The only thing I spend money on is my plus sub. I spend more than that each week on fast food.

I think its good to post this message on the forum, let the publishers know the players think the price is expensive. Usually I buy stuff from the crown market, but this one.. expensive.. 2500 should been the price tag area. I could go and buy a triple A game for the same price the mount cost.. Will pass on it.. Sadly..

Soo.. your saying "Zos don't wanna make money, they increased priced to make people happy." This just made my day.
Why would they say no to 50 million dollar, and accept only 2million instead? does not make any sense. They are a business, they do exclusive deals to make money, they don't care how you feel. Only reason they would care is if you stopped paying them money.

They are putting price tags after statistics of previous sales, and they already have a ruff idea of how many people would buy this mount for this exact price. Maybe if they lowered it more people would buy it, but less money would be gained as each person paid less. They are finding balance, and trying to maximize the income.

If it would cost 2k then maybe, but 4k is way too much crowns for a mount.

If it was dyed in my own special unique pattern and style, then maybe, but not when it's the same look under thousands of other players.

What mount are you guys on about? I vaguely gathered it was some sort of stag but I can't see a stag in the crownstore showcase? Thanks for your help in advance. I am working late so not on the game and very confused lol.

@StrawberryKitsune There's a black pony pet and a black stag mount in the crown store. They are limited time (24 hours only) sale.
