Stam too! Stamblade was actually my first character. I've had four over the life of my account, but my DC wood elf is the one I play.

Impressed to see the flowing ideas in this thread.

Lots of great stuff. Dont think i could add anything that hasnt been said, except id be interested in seeing dark stalker on a nb without being vamp. Maybe instead of minor protection, add dark stalker for the duration, or replace another passive with it. This would help with survivability as well

If all of OPs points were addressed in someway id feel that nightblade would compete with sorc for top dps.

I'm playing on EU server, so I haven't had a chance to test my own chars with their respective sets (and some alternatives) on PTS yet. I was actually positively surprised when using a prebuilt magblade with one of the available regen sets, but that was more due to the fact that I expected it to not work at all anymore after the outcry I saw on the forum.

    Some general thoughts anyways:

    - One of the biggest mistakes Zenimax made concerning NBs was removing the purge from cloak, imho. I understand that some people felt cloak was too powerful before, but there would have been better ways to nerf it, the most obvious being a cooldown with a cost increase like on streak. I pulled my stamblade out of PVP completely due to the cloak-nerf, and on my magblade I have to play so conservatively that I feel very much like @Brrrofski: After some time, I want to switch to my magsorc - better damage, better survivability, better mobility. More fun to play. Which is an utter shame, considering how much fun NB was a year ago.

    - The change on siphoning strikes left me very disappointed, tbh. If there is one thing to be said about NBs then that they are damage avoiders, and in PVP-environments stamNB and magNBs avoid damage by using both ressource pools - they cloak and fear, they rolldodge and sneak (in different measures though). By forcing either health+magica or health+stamina regen on NBs, you push magblades into a playstile where magsorcs simply perform better, and you push stamblades into a playstile which stamDKs simply survive better. Both is a loss of class-uniqueness in my eyes.
I shortly thought that maybe this was an adaption for PVE where the 100% focus on one ressource pool makes much more sense, but then - why a health regen? Especially magblades have more than enough heals already, they surely don't need another.

    - I like the idea of an audio cue to summon shade to know when you get out of range. I am, however, very adversary to the idea of making the shadow invisible as someone else proposed. That would essentially give NBs a teleport to a secret location nobody else could know. I think the last change to summon shade (making it attack its target instantly after cast) was introduced to prevent just that.

    Good writeup.

They seriously need to fix cloak for good, having it partially fixed by every major patch is getting tiresome as theres always multiple ways to still break it. Magicka nbs are also in need of a way to counter roots/snares because those things are too much of a hardcounter if a magblade is not a vampire.

One thing I feel that stamina nightblades desperately need to not be entirely pigeonholed into being gankers, is minor mending or some other means to boost their healing. Magicka nb has abit of healing boosts through the siphoning skill tree, but there are no good skills in this tree for stamina nightblade apart from maybe siphoning attacks and that looks to be nerfed beyond usefulness.

Changing power extraction to something else entirely would be a good solution, as its not being used by anyone in its current form. Minor mending pls.

After reading this thread last night i tried the wyrd combo for cloak, and it worked semi well. My damage wasnt great, and cloak worked if i hit it twice. It allowed me to be elusive but it was hard to kill folks on my own.

Ill try some different setups, but it was nice to have a "purging" cloak.

Heavy attacks proc more resource return from siphoning attacks than light attacks. Maybe make cripple unreflectable?

I just solved all my MagNB problems last night.

After getting hit after hit after hit with ZOS's patches, then with what's coming down the pipe with Morrowind... I just can't do it anymore.

I created a MagNB when the game launched on consoles, ;it was my very first character in the game. Sure I also Main a Magplar and a MagSorc, but that very first MagNB, my first character; I held on to him with the hope that he would be "OK" again one day.

But such is not to be the case.

I deleted him. I just can't do it anymore.

There's just no light IMO for NB's of any flavor with the changes ZOS is making. He became a casualty of rampant stupidity. :(

It's not your fault, my Liege.

We are facing an immortal, immovable foe in ZOS; and their apparent disregard and desire for the destruction of everything NB is looking to be an insurmountable obstacle.

It was a very tough choice, but I couldn't see any other option... :(

That's usually me as well I just started ganking last week because I was bored of the game and I've actually been having fun. I feel bad because I been talking trash about gankers all this time and I've actually enjoyed it. I don't gank solo players though, because as a solo player I know how annoying gankers can be lol

Sorry probably I did not relay the message. Ganking is totally fine by me. I just personally don't enjoy ganking as in the play style is not my preference. Like the Lord and almighty @NightbladeMechanics said... IF you want to make a brawler magblade... that's who my magblade is.. and I like to charge and challenge people head on. have a fair (not always ) 1v1.

Also, surviving a gank is one of my favorite pastimes. and I have to be thankful that there are gankers who think they can take me on. but end up dead because they underestimated me.... alas. there are the select few master gankers.. that no mater what I do I could never survive they burst.. but I don't see them often so its not that annoying.

    cheers.

Same here. I would really appreciate it if somebody who access to the new PTS could give us an update on the SA numbers. I actually think the skill sounds really cool with how it will function - a rally type restore skill. After thinking about it, I totally agree with what @NightbladeMechanics said above - the live version of SA is just too easy mode to use. The fact I feel like I can just easily recast it every time I LoS for a second shows how forgiving the skill is. This change makes it a lot more strategic and skillful to use which I can get behind. However, I am curious to see the numbers. And, as I have said 100 times before, I still IMPLORE ZoS to restore the duel magicka and stamina restore because it is so core to Magblade game play.

I agree as well, and look forward to testing the new version.

I also agree that the dual-resource restore needs to come back to nightblades -- whether by being added back to Siphoning Strikes or through some other means -- both because it is core to magblade gameplay and because every other class can get back stamina by spending something other than stamina. Before 3.0, every class could do this; after 3.0, every class except Nightblades can do this. Why remove this functionality specifically from Nightblades? Why remove it from any one class and let the others keep it?

Interesting. I hope this comment gets some visibility.

Me too :) I made a separate thread about it in hopes that some dev will notice it.

If S Strike gives dual resource.. then leaching strikes automatically becomes useless... I am note sure that's the directions the devs are going with this change....if they take your advice.. they need to rethink leaching strikes in to something else...

please note they said it will restore roughly the same amount of resources, which (as gilliam showed) was worse than not running it at all.
