Non maelstrom spell damage weapon enchant requires a previous attack to proc correct? So you won't get that damage on opening heavy attack. A constant spell damage increase enchantment is better than one that has to be procd. I think if you are using willpower, maelstrom staff is BiS as far as staffs go. If you aren't doing 5:5:2 with dual wield than maelstrom enchant is definitely better than a 1/5 set staff with crafted enchantment.

My current build is all divines except big pieces, 1/1 maelstrom, 2/2 slimecraw, 3/3 willpower, and either 5/5 necropotence or 5/5 spinners, in case you were interested.

Yes, I see this . . . all forms of damage are still measured in some form of damage/time. Dps and burst damage are not oppositional terms in any way. Burst damage would be a term describing a form OF dps.

When I was saying what I do with my build I was not trying to make any insinuation of anything anyone else does. It's all gravy my friend.

But how do you guys reach 58k ? Is it with bound aegis slotted? Anyway, played a lot of DW since thieves guild (sorc nerf was actually the reason I started as a sorc)?

I dont want to make a New thread, so I am sry to usw this one, but how is my posted setup for a dual wield sorc? I will usw max + reg food and plan on thieve mundus and favor Pirate skeleton.

Are there better options or is that solid?

I reach 58k with bound aegis stacked with inner light. Things usually die when I land a 23k crystal frag on them. Well-geared/played enemies require frags into a meteor/soul assault/Dawnbreaker to die followed up by a fury execute.


Your set-up is similar to mine but with different pieces and gears used in different slots, but mathematically what you suggested is similar. The main drawback is that even with that amount of firepower, the tank meta of today makes pulling it off easier said then done for the most part.

The strength Red's build has, is that it is far more sustainable, and allows generous kiting capability. My 58k magic is pure balls deep. I either land a new Tamriel record on you, or I get poisoned and ran out of resources.


That said, I experimented with Pirate Skelly on my set-up. 51k magic on my shield stack bar, and I could dance in stacked destro ults when it proc'd, lol.

Red's build also has more ulility with the extra 2-3 slots. I tried the max mag stack with 57-58K and it just didn't have enough room on the bar for anything more than just frags, entropy, and fury. Mine was a little less because thief mundus.

Problem is that frags is the most counterable attack in the game. You run into a block build, they just tear you up when your resources are out. You run into a dodge roller, same thing. We need Curse and Mines or Dark Exchange without needing to dig into the overload bar.

The tank meta is worse every day I swear, as everyone slowly discovers malubeth part 2, the king of trolls.

Yeah I kill people with all undodgeable attacks all the time, which helps when you can't land a frag. People who are in medium armor all it takes is an endless fury, curse, and dawnbreaker - all attacks that cannot be dodged. Sometimes instead of dawnbreaker I can use streak if they are squishy, which is also undodgeable. It doesn't hurt that my streaks are basically surprise attacks.
