The questions is shall I buy just one of the manors or all three?
My main house will be the cheap one (1.2M?) on Stros M'ka anyways cause it has the nicest environment.

I think the price is dependant on whether or not you are lucky enough to be in a trade guild that can sell to the community.

Some will find Manors cheap, others will find them totally unobtainable.

The economy is an exclusive club so the price could never be right.

It's trivially easy to get into a trade guild.

I left mine fairly recently (No trader for a few weeks. No trader = poor income). Went to the Rift. Immediately found two people advertising trade guilds within an hour of each-other in decently frequented spots. Joined one, then left because a friend/guildie of mine recommended me to a guild with a wayrest vendor.

The guild I left had over 400 people, 10k sell requirements, and an optional raffle.
The second guild had no requirements and an optional raffle.
The one I'm in now, in a good location, has a 1k sell requirements and additional access/permissions if you sell more.

It's not hard, at all, to find a trade guild. Literally just got to any major zone (Reaper's March, The Rift, Bangkorai, Craiglorn) and ask around. You will almost certainly find a guild that has slots.

Trade guilds WANT members that sell things. That is how they pay for the trader. I've never seen a trade guild that is 100% full. Just stay active and sell stuff and you'll keep in it.

~4.25milli for the biggest house? I can afford to get all the houses if wanted but no extra storage space and that was my personal draw towards housing.

Additionally, this pricing, linked to achievements, is a weak push for crown expenditures. Even releasing new motifs for old DLC content is also showing me another weak push by Z0$ for crown crate revenue.

New trophies for houses linked with dungeons, especially DLC dungeons is a dumb move in making players re-farm dungeons that have been nerfed to hell and endlessly boring already considering most have farmed and re-farmed them for gear.

Shabby update from my point of view.

3.78m gold for a manor and there's 3 of them (all 3 needed for an achievement that comes with a title). I feel poor now :)

What is in the more expensive homes that isn't in the cheaper?

they are bigger, you can fit more stuff into it (no storage unfortunatelly, "maybe later") and you can fit more friends inside and you "own" a huge house in the game, that is all :)

Now that we know the prices of houses in Homestead, what do you think of them? Do you find them cheap, OK or expensive? Or maybe "way too..."?

If you haven't seen them yet, apartments costs between 11k and 13k, small homes between 40k and 74k, medium homes between 190k and 335k, large homes between 760k and 1.3 million and manors around 3.7 million.

I think the prices are kind of ok, I was expecting it to be higher.

The price for mansions is insane. The most gold Ive ever had is 200k. And thats from just normal questing, I havnt gone gold farming. I dont get how people walk around with millions of gold. I can sure kiss manor goodbye. But who knows maybe I will be happy with a medium house.

yes, but this is also true, I am not a hard core player at all and the most gold that I ever had was maybe like 70K, usually I am around 20K ...so no manor for me

I think they went too far tbh :(

Goals to work towards is just fine....But with those prices I will never ever set foot in a large house ( not to mention the even bigger ones..)

And since it isn't possible, thats when I ask myself..." why bother?"

Still haven't found the answer :/

I'm just going to crash at my guildie's house who has enough gold to buy all three manors. :-P

I will decide which houses I buy once I see them. I think different houses will be different characters' "homes"

I wonder if you could upgrade slowly. Say get a room in the inn and make gold then upgrade to a medium. Stay in a medium to upgrade to a large. Then stay in a large and upgrade to a manor when you have the money :)

You can own all houses in the game at the same time. So you could start with a small and then buy more as you wish.

I think the prices are on the high side, the manors should be about half what they are now. Nearly 4m will be well out of reach for the majority of players but then I guess they don't want the majority of players buying them with gold anyway.

I think the mansions are far too expensive. I was expecting them to be two million at most. I've been saving for months and only have about 2.7 million saved. I think they are trying to exploit us to get crown houses.

I'd agree with that, except, I think they're really driving the idea that those high cost houses will be something not everyone gets.

Other than crank out 3.7 million, know what else you have to do to pay the gold for the Aldmeri manor estate?
    200 zone quests.

    I've done 176 so far.

    For daggerfall, 233 quests.

    Ebonhart, 269 quests.

Nope. On the PTS everything in the crown store costs 1 crown and everyone is assigned 5500 crowns to ensure that people can buy and test whatever they want (when crown crates were briefly on the PTS they were an exception to this, as they cost a full 400 crowns, and the 5500 crowns you were assigned was refreshed every day).

I took a quick tour and liked some of the large houses better than the manors. Hunding's beach house, here I come! I'm sure will get the manors eventually just to have them (my fav was the AD one with the waterfall), but honestly, unless you have to have the titles, there are several really nice and spacious options in the classic category to choose from for around a million gold that should make most people happy.

Long term goals and cosmetic things go together pretty well. Never had much reason to worry about buying things from or selling things to other players until now. Didn't care about gold, I just used it for maintenance and bag/bank space. Now I guess I'll find a good trading guild to join to hopefully boost my income and get the big house faster.

I tend to agree. Of the large houses my 2 favorites were the Hunding's Beach House one and the Forsaken Fortress one, and I liked both of them better than any of the manors. Of the manors, the AD one was my favorite too, but that was more about the courtyard than anything else.

Oh, and so far my favorite of any of the homes that I've previewed is of course the crown store-only Grand Topal Hideaway.

Yes, the Forsaken Fortress is great, I'll buy up that one too! I was happy to see so many that had outdoor space. Even that smallish Sleek Creek house has a yard and deck with a view. I avoided previewing the crown only hideaway because I don't want to get hooked on a crown-only house but I am not surprised to hear it's the nicest one of them all.

I wasn't nearly as impressed with the other crown-only one (Earthtear Cavern in Craglorn), but it would make a great guildhall for large meetings. Well, up to 25 people I guess, since that's the (current) maximum you can have in a home.

This all strikes me just like real life.
Most people do not live in multi-million dollar mansions very, very few do. The "rich".
Then the proverbial white collar classes living in the large homes and blue collars in the medium and small homes.
And finally the down-trodden, unemployed or finacially challenged residing at the inn on a week to week paycheck.

I don't mind the prices. I'm a new player (ish - only started playing frequently this past November) so I certainly don't have enough gold for much.

However, I am a bit salty that there are titles and achievements that come with the manors and, as such, can be purchased with Crowns, ie PTW slope. Achievements should be worked for, not purchased, in my opinion. I'm not bothered by having the houses available with crown purchases, just the combination of that with achievements.
