I can understand your confusion and I will try and explain why, for me, it's an issue.

ESO is the best theme park MMO on the market (again, for me). It gets so much right. And I really have a great appreciation for what ZOS has created. They deserve every accolade they get, and frankly I don't think they get enough.

I do not play MMORPGs, for lack of a better term, competitively. I've been here since beta, and my highest character is 120cp or thereabouts. I don't PvP (really, just haven't gotten around to it yet). I could not care less about min-maxing. I will never be Emperor or on leader boards or talked about as being in the upper echelons of skilled players.

None of that is important to me nor why I play ESO.

The main aspect of enjoyment I get from the game is simply wandering around with my little avatars, seeing the sights, people-watching, what have you. I'm basically an in-game 'mall-walker'.

And when I am in Tamriel, I like to look good. I really enjoy creating unique outfits, accessorizing, even the name has to be "right". I will pay money to change a character's name if I change their cosmetic 'theme'. I mean, really it's inconsequential to game-play what your avatar is named. But it is important to me.

Cosmetics are a very large part of why I play ESO. Perhaps the biggest, though not only, reason. Wealthy men have their Sideshow collectibles. I have my virtual Barbies.

In the past ZOS charged what I thought were fair prices. I've lauded their Online Store as the ideal to be emulated.

Starting with the Crown Crates, that opinion began to change.

I don't expect anything for free. They're a business.

But the trend I am perceiving is that the price of my main enjoyment is starting to outpace the satisfaction derived. $100 for a top-tier mount from the Crown Crates (my general estimate)? And it may not even be the one you are wanting?

That's not reasonable. The Elk Mount cost is not reasonable. Selling a motif for $20 that then might require around another $20 to outfit some of my toons in it? Not reasonable.

To me it feels like greed on ZOS's end, whereas before I felt like I was receiving a good deal.

That's all subjective of course. But I'm a customer and those are my opinions. My opinion of ZOS is starting to shift from positive to negative. That isn't irreversible, but the current trend is not doing anything to move the needle in a different direction.

To summarize, when cosmetics are one of the main reasons you play the game, managerial decisions effecting cosmetics resonate, for good or ill.

There won't be a Crown Houses, only thing for houses which will be available through Crown Store will be decorating items. ZOS did not mention about stricte Crown Houses.

Just putting it out there that if no one shelled out 4500 crowns for a mount then ZOS has less incentive to put 4500 crown mounts in the crown store.

In the UK we call parts of a car a bonnet, and a boot, referring to what you might call a "hood" and a "trunk". That doesn't make either of us wrong does it?

Also, this is information from wikipedia:

So actually the only reason you call it an Elk, is actually because the early European explorers thought that it looked kind of like their elk (a moose)

Even the head isn't shaped like an elks. I literally stood side by side with those in Wrothgar to "face my fears". This mount is an exact copy of the horse, only with a built in hat-rack. And I sorta expected it to be an elk.

Now that is perhaps the worst thing of all. As an Elk as mount hadn't been in the game yet, everyone was expecting it to be unique and different. And by the graphics it sure looks to be different from a horse. But if the majority of animations and sounds are exactly that of a horse I believe we have indeed been lied to. As they didn't sell us an Elk Mount, but a malformed reskin of a horse. That comes with the scream of a duped customer on it's stationary special animation.

Sure Elk in Tamriel can look, behave and sound different from elk on Earth, it's not a newly created creature just for this purchase so it should at least be more similar to the ones already found in-game. I expected the hop as well, rather than the horse run.

Just comparing the preview to one in the wild, it looks so awkwardly shaped due to the stretching of an Elk skin over a horse skeleton.

You're part of the problem, then. Vent about the price here all you want -- all the ZOS bean counters see is the fact that you spent 4500 crowns on a freaking MOUNT. Even though you're disgusted with the price, you've encouraged them with your purchase to offer mounts for similar prices in future.

I seem to recall that they're going to be adding crown only "homesteads" in the form of, like, private islands or something along those lines.

Considering the current trend of over-charging for cosmetic stuff (because, let's be perfectly reasonable here, the only practical use these houses are going to have is the skeleton training dummies), this honestly worries me.

I've been waiting for a unicorn for sooooo long that I'd pay the same for it. The Elk looks awesome but id like a subscriber discount. 2500 for subs sounds reasonable to me. Although the crafting bag is fab I still think there should be continuous benefits to paying sub and yet again ZOS drops the ball

I think it's hilarious that there is people that bought this mount and got shafted. It just shows how out of touch they are with the game and development in wanting to support a company like zos after all the bad things they have done.

Been an awful lot of miscommunication from you guys recently with crown store items. You forgot to mention that the Frostcaster motif came with 50 less mimic stones than the Grim Harlequinn motif, or that the New Life hoods and hats couldn't be dyed, the list goes on. At a certain point it begins to feel intentional.

Agreed, they're a company utterly unworthy of giving money to anymore. It's simply not worth it.

My advice for buying mounts (or basically anything in the crown store): Check it out on the PTS first, especially if it's something expensive. I thought about buying the camel, but after I tested it on PTS I decided otherwise.

Umm, PTS crown store doesn't get updated. So err... Useless suggestion.

I think the mount also needs a warning label for the NAILS ON A CHALK BOARD SOUND that mount makes. It is waaaay too high pitch vs what Elk actually sound like. It just hurts. Actually gave me a migraine. I am all for trolly stuff too, but this...... is too much. It is awful!

^This exactly! As long as people continue to buy the outrageously priced items, ZOS could care less. Money from begrudgingly unhappy customers is just as green and able to be put in the ZOS bank as happy customer's money. If you want ZOS to rein in the ridiculous prices, then please, do not be part of the problem!
