Vigor is killing me :(

and by that i mean actually getting the skill... not a glitch or whatever lol.

I'm a pve player. Just came back to the game and started anew about 2 weeks ago and have a level 30 stamblade. I've been enjoying myself so far, but i'm starting to feel squishy against harder monsters (and especially world bosses).

Looking up some builds etc. and i see there are only two real self heals for a stamblade.

1: Rally... which is 2h only and fairly deep in. And i prefer DW/Bow... though its an option if necessary (to switch to 2h)
2: vigor... which takes some pvp.

So i'm not above trying new things and i've now spent an entire afternoon in cyrodil. I feel i've got a pretty good handle on what to do and where to go. I've picked up some siege equipment and repair kits etc.

I, as expected, get 3-4 shot by pretty much anything (seriously, i have screenshots of someone doing 9k > 4k > 14k to me in 2 globals... and i have 22k health lol).
All i can really do is stand behind the group with my bow and aoe (and/or use/fix siege equipment and die as soon as someone looks at me sideways).

But man... 3 or 4 hours so far... with a zerg group.. and i'm barely halfway through rank 3... and i need 5 for vigor...

/sigh

anyway... just looking for some advice and/or encouragement i suppose lol. How many other primary pve'ers out there choked down pvp for vigor?

wish me luck :-\

You are a night blade. Mirage, reaper's mark, killer's blade. You are not suppose to be able to solo world bosses. They are harder now, many requiring a group to finish. Right now questing wise, you don't even need that much stamina. Put some in health and ensure u have a large pool of health as well. Enchants those gear to stamina / health.

Reaper's Mark - 60% of max health when target dies and gain Major Berserk
Killer's Blade - 17% of max health when target dies
Mirage - 20% more dodge chance and gain Minor ward & Minor Resolve.

And all these are from the assassin tree and will increase your critical strike per ability slotted. which means you can burst down an enemy down and gain health far faster than any other class.

The first 2 skills on the dual weld tree have healing morphs also. There awesome. If you go the dual weld way. Which is better for PVE.
Whip out ya Resto for PVP and follow that zerg. You'll get to 5 eventually. Then ya can leave and never have to return.

Well if all you want vigor than quip a resto staff and spam mutagen & springs. AP comes in much faster that way and you can just sit back and let everyone else do the fighting :D

I'm absolutely fine with burning a few skill points if it helps lol.

(p.s. yea, i know about the heal morphs in the DW tree.. its how i got this far lol. But i want a burst heal outside of my potions :P)

Pro tip: Once per hour, go into a Cyrodiil delve and kill any boss to get a 20% buff to all Alliance Points gained.

If you're DW and Bow you can focus on rounding out your build with the mitigation and healing that your class and weapons offer. DW has two skills with healing morphs and one with 20% less damage take from AOE. NB class skills are littered with secondary and tertiary effects that will allow to to survive better and heal.

If you want to solo stuff, you chose the wrong nightblade flavor. Magblade with its range and passive self-heals is one of the best for soloing content.

Even with vigor, there are some world bosses that I would not want to even consider soloing with my stamblade (ahem, Menhir).

is this considered a tough world boss?

I have been trying to solo hard world bosses (a guildy claimed some could not be done and that I must have done it before 1T) and if this one is one of the harder ones I might go give it a try.

Go into a cyrodiil delve every hour for 20℅ extra AP (called Blessing of war)

But wall repairs and smash them in after a keep defence/has been taken.

When using your bow, just tag eceryone.

Pick up bounty quests, keep captures and scout reports. They offer 1k AP each (1.2 if you hand it in with the AP boost active.

You need 99k AP to get vigor I think. It isn't too difficult really. Just LFG and tag on to AP.

    All world bosses are easy.

OP, Just roll with a zerg but stand back, when you see a weakling just ambush, sup attack, killers blade and flee / cloak and repeat, or just stand back spamming snipe at everyone.

key thing is do NOT join a large group, but stalk one, reason being.

Say one kill is worth 2K AP, one group of 10 kills him the AP is divided up to 200 each, not so good.

Now if you roll alone and a group of 9 people plus you solo kills him, you get half the AP so 1K and the group of 9 gets the other 1k but over 9 of them. that is how you farm AP. Same goes for heal farming, don't join the zerg just follow them, otherwise you'll get nothing but 2/3 AP ticks over 30 etc.

Yeah, it was rank 10 when rank 10 was 3 month of pvp only. Now people who want PvP must spend 10x more time to get Undaunted Mettle passive than PvE people to get vigor #ZoSlogic

Actually... I was leveling new character recently, and I'm not the one who asks for help without first trying to solo :D

    Screenshot_20161215_154228.jpg

Ignore his adds, after you kill them, he summons them again - just kept some distance, constantly moving away and casting shiled.

Not easy, world bosses are not easy now, but many are possible. And comparing it to how I fight them on my magblades, it would be much easier and faster on my stamina sorc - I don't even use Vigor on him, just Surge and dual wield skills healing morphs. On my main character, stamblade, I can solo only some alone/duo world bosses, and only when I equip stamina recovery gear - I just spam Bone Shield from undaunted skill line, Vigor, heavy attacks and some abilities occasionally - absolutely not fun :/ I wouldn't recommend stamblade for comfortable PvE world exploring, stam sorc is much better, you don't even need Vigor for this on stam sorc :)

Maybe any boss can be soloed with some class, end game gear and so on, but not every class can solo world boss.
For example, I was messing around with my almost forgotten sNB few days ago, and just tried some random bosses to see how they feel on sNB. Well, first of all, if you cloak during boss fight some of them just reset to full health!? I mean, wtfh Zos, really?
Bosses in Alk'r desert are not that bad, maybe only hags can be a real issue for my sNB. I can solo them all there on both sDK and mDK tank with no problem. But one boss I can't solo at all is that golden saint one in Stonefalls. Even on my mDK tank when she uses that whip I am forced into situation that leads to resource depletion. On sDK its one hit death. Didn't even try that one on sNB.

Really, it depends on situation. 98k AP is not a big deal, if you go defend keeps when ad or dc decide its green alliance time.
On Trueflame I got 20k ticks almost every day just on a single BRK/Chal defense, and I am a sDK, so no destro ulti or VD 15 kills at a time for me.

Most of the ppl simply don't know how to tag enough enemies to get at least partial AP when they die. I see ppl swarming ultra tanks and wasting time on them, and then they get to share staggering 1.2-6 k AP for a 5 minute work. I mean, last hitting is nice, but this ain't DotA, lol. In big clashes, be sure to hit more ppl from a range, or use aoe. I mean, if you are PvE player that PvP just for vigor, make your life easier, man.

This is THE best and fastest way for a PvE'er to get AP. Just follow the Zerg and spam Mutagen. Does not matter wether you are Stam or Magicka. You are not going to fight anyone. Just spam Mutagen over and over, and watch the AP tick in.

If you follow a decent sized zerg, you should be making at least 10k AP / Hour like that.

Go to a server where your faction is dominating -- find a decent looking group of players and surf them. You can easily get 50-60k AP per hour by either staying on the front lines in the zerg fights or surfing a decent group of players who are farming. Oils & Fire ballistas are pretty solid -- but don't overrate them. Spamming Heavy Attacks & Poison Inject is sometimes just as good, if not better in some cases.

Edit: Make sure you're in a pop locked campaign. E.g. Trueflame if you're PC NA, Haderus/Scourge if you're Xbox NA -- I'm not sure about the others.

You should feel squishy against world bosses. They are still a joke, but not as absurd as they were at launch.

Additionally, the grind for Vigor is not that much. They made it significantly easier to obtain earlier this year, much easier. So any comments about it are truly out of place if you knew how much more grinding you would have had to do before.

You're still very low level. The higher levels you reach, the more you get to acquire better armor and weapon sets. When you finally reach CP, you will begin to use those CPs to boost your resistance (such as Hardy/Elemental) and dps factors in the constellation. Heck, I was still getting killed left and right until I was in the mid-300 CPs, particularly soloing world bosses. It wasn't until the 500 CPs where I had enough CPs to plus up my resistance factors, not to get 1-3 shots killed by a world boss. Survivability, particularly if soloing a world boss or in any dungeon or trial, require all good combination of armor/weapon set, good health/stam/majicka, higher resistance and dps, rejuvenation factors, and the ability to evade and getting hit less (particularly against vet level bosses.)

You will get there. It just take a while to get into the higher CPs to have enough to distribute the CPs effectively among those constellations/champion trees. Check out those how-to and build/CP guide youtube clips. There are lots of good clips showing/explaining how to get better builds and how to better distribute your attributes and CPs in the constellation, once you get those CPs.

You wouldn't be the first PVE stamina player who switches to magicka, equips a healing staff and hides in zergs (and don't forget repairing walls) until they unlock Vigor... then respecs back to stamina and carries on with PVE... heck, some even stay a few hours longer to unlock Caltrops.

Occasionally PVP even takes root and you find yourself staying and enjoying it. It's how we convert you :)
