Major Trading Guilds that are able to continually remain in major cities like Mournhold, Rawl'kha, Wayrest etc. If you can sell in those traders then you're practically guaranteed a buyer for whatever you sell every day. Then all you have to do is keep getting a hold of the high ticket items like Tempering Alloy, desirable Jewelry, and Crafting Materials.

Good luck getting in them though. They've become like exclusive organizations that requires hefty dues every week and other stupid fees.

I remember trying to hit my first Million. I would get close, then spend a bunch, then get close, then spend a bunch. Once I broke that logjam, the gold really started accumulating. However it was soon after I had maxed my Bank and Character Bag Space so my main gold sink was gone.

I just hit 5.26 Million this morning.

How do people even make that much gold o_o

    1) Do top tier writs - sell gold mats you get
    2) Harvest EVERYTHING - sell gold mats you get on refining.
    3) Be in an active trade guild with a Kiosk to sell your gold mats.

See the pattern? The quickest way that I have found to make money is selling my spare gold mats and any harvest materials I don't need. Waiting to find that perfect BoE item with perfect traits that you can sell for 100,000.00 + can be a very slow way to make consistent money.

Money from harvesting is a consistent, lucrative, and in my opinion fun way to fill the coffers.

Farm new motifs early and often (at least on PS4). The latest motifs go for 80-100k each in the first week they're released. I'm still able to sell Thieves at 10k each and Abah's at 20k each, and that was 3 motif sets ago. Order, Minotaur, and Brotherhood are still going for 20-40k each. I believe trial/dungeon motifs like Celestial and Dro-M'athra go for even more, but I don't farm those. Obviously the common ones that are farmable won't sell for much, like Mercenary, Outlaw (although this one is going up in price), and Assassins. Dwemer, Trinimac, Malacath, and Ancient Orc are seeing small resurgences as well as less of them are hitting the market (the Orsinium event may have put a damper on those though).

For the record, I think prices on most everything are hitting ridiculous levels on console lately and I'm not sure it's sustainable. When I see people post various PC prices it always seems we're between 2 and 3 times more expensive. Tempering Alloys for 20k each in zone chat? Seems crazy.

I think a lot of people without money just don't see the value in taking time away from their favorite activities. PVPing is my favorite thing but I haven't set foot in Cyrodiil for like 2 weeks cause of the Wrothgar event. Picking flowers wasn't the most exhilarating thing but, 200+ columbine later, I now have enough immovable potions to last me six months. If I had just PVP'd instead I'd probably just have 50 more bows of Vicious Death to deconstruct.

Seriously making money is freaking easy if your expenses are low, I struggle keeping up with my high support of guildies & expenses.

All it takes is a little dedication and you get 100k income easily a day, just sell the freaking popular items and materials that people want. - any content you do in this game is profitable, if you do it right.

List over stuff that sells well everywhere:
    • Recipes
    • Improvement materials for crafting
    • Runes
    • Tel var stones
    • Flowers
    • Provisioning materials and food buffs
    • Perfect roe or psijic potions
    • Purple set jewelry
    • Sharpened trait set weapons

Last week I bought a blue recipe for level 25 or so the other day, for 200g and just sold it for 6k - why/how?
-Because the recipe is relatively rare and people who search for these rare items don't want to bother with searching for the right price - as long as the price is not ridiculously high, then any completionist will pay it without giving it a second thought.

Quoted for truth. I have a personal ceiling of 1000g on random useless recipes, but if I see a "blue level 20 random disgusting sounding fish and corn" recipe for 900g it's insta buy time.

I'd easily pay 5k for Sylph Gin. It's the last lvl 40-45 blue recipe I need after working that level of writ on 5 characters for close to 3 months now.

Lol, I did not know that. I guess God bless the guys running bots as I expect that is what is accounting for the price differences in mats between pc and console. Realistically, with almost useless hirelings and crafting writs that are both, very expensive to do, and very low yield on gold mat drops, it is the node farmers that are probably bringing most gold mats into game through refining at a rate of ~1gold/200raw mats. I expect that many, many, of those node farmers are guys running bots afk as node farming would be easy to bot.

The gold mat price issue has been an increasing issue for some time driven both by low mat availability and no real gold sink. Did you know that back in the day, prior to the 10x hireling nerf when writs were released, I once got 14 gold mats in a single day from my 8 hirelings that were each checked twice. Now I actually don't even bother to log in and check them as it is not worth the time. Writs also used to yeild gold mats at about 75% and cost about nothing to do. Now....... Inflation is for real yo.

Anyhow, I expect housing will be very expensive and I have enough gold banked for that and to buy your gold mats cheap when price crashes from the introduction of that massive gold sink. That is the other way to make money, time the market. Wish I would have bought more dreague wax at 1.5k or tempering alloy when the dupe cheaters were crashing the market (they went entirely unpunished for this BTW.)

As is, I have earned my money different ways at different times:
    1) Back in the hireling days I sold lots of mats.
    2) Trials came out and I sold that gear pretty well for a while. Especially the vDSA gear.
    3) Mats during imperial city when a single ancestor silk could fetch over 300g.
    4) Thieves guild motifs when the drop rate on them was very high.
    5) Huge money off of gold jewelry from VSO when it was leveled up. Ran that probably 30 times and sold everything unbound.
    6) Sell all my intricate stuff, always. This actually adds up.
    7) I'm not really going to go into what I am currently farming but it is also something where the drop rate makes it well worth the time.

I just find an edge in the market where I can. Different times have been different degrees of lucrative. Now is better than average for me but nowhere near the imperial city or vSO time.
I am currently worried for the future of ESO. Population seems like it is in free fall and the cancellation of the North America in-person gathering feels very much like pulling the plug. Kudos on fixing the in-game economy though. Clearly whatever gold shenanigans were happening the last couple years are fixed.

If you really want to know the main reason for inflated prices on console it's not gold farmers. It's the PC add ons deflating their market.

Think about it. If all merchant add ons went away tomorrow the prices would be all over the place on PC within 30 days. Ultimately the market decides what's a fair price and if you know exactly where the best deal is why would you go anywhere else?

Meanwhile everyone on console has a different definition of what is fair. Prices in Belkarth are almost never the same as Mournhold and I can straight out rob people in Elden Root even at 20% more than my Belkarth prices while selling 5 times the merchandise.

Nah, I would just do what I did before Master Merchant came out, shop around and make note of the prices. Now, will say that console folks do have an uphill with this not having a decent guild store interface. In fact, if they would come up with one, most of the calls for an auction house would go away. Anyway, addons for commerce do nothing that paying attention won't do for you.

That being said, yes, prices would scatter on the PC over time, but not as much as you think, simply because we have a better way to shop the guild stores.

Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Once upon a time, I was very much into trading and was making a couple million per month and practically lived inside the bank, constantly refilling my shelf spots.

After I maxed bags and bank and got a few million to spare, I stopped and diverted all my attention to endgame content. But I have few expenses because I prefer to farm my own motifs, mats, etc. So even though I don't even have MM these days, the wealth keeps building, albeit very slowly.
