there are plenty of ways of getting money and stuff in the game.
1. Steal it.
Level a Khajiit Nightblade and pickpocket and steal from lock boxes and do thieves guild quests for gold.
2. Farm your materials.
Not hard to do, find a area with creatures that drop materials or go to Hew's bane or Wrothgar and find it lying around, gonna need a high level crafter to get the best stuff, but everyone should have a crafter or two.
3. Do quests and delves and play the game.
You will get money and other things to sell, just for having fun in the game.
4. Farm Motifs.
Alot of people do this and make a killing on Selling the pages when they first come out, hop on the bandwagon and get some for yourself.
5. Sell stuff in a trade guild / make a trade guild.
You can make lots of money this way and if you are really smart you could make a trade guild and get people to sell stuff in your trade guild, you get a cut of everything that sells.. lots of work but people who can manage a trade guild well will make boatloads of money.
6. Kill for your gold.
With the Dark Brotherhood out you can perform as many regular hits (kill's) as you want and make some gold.
So now these are just some of the ways to make in-game gold.. Writs are another way to get mats, ETC.
Making a piece of gear Legendary should not be easy and it should cost a fortune.
I do a combination of the above, I farm mats, steal and sell stuff in a trader, farm Motifs and perform DB hits/kills.
I work on one character at a time, I have 11 characters at this moment and will create the last one soon.
I work on my favorite characters the most, and when I get enough gold upgrade materials and the sets I want, I make the decision to make a piece of there's Legendary. this might happen once every 2 nights or so (I am a very active gamer and a PC transfer, so I know my way around the block in this game).
I have one character, my 1st character who is my active crafter, he does all crafts (yes all) and has everything researched (yes all).
I have about 5-6 characters outfitted with all Golden Gear and constantly work toward making my others characters gear Legendary as well, it's a WIP (Work in Progress) but I do it, one piece at a time.
And when things change, like when the Gear level moved from VR14, now cp 140 to VR16, now CP 160, I found my new set pieces that I wanted for my characters and started all over again, welcome to a MMO. This will happen again.
is it too expensive to upgrade to Yellow ?, it can be but its a Long Term Goal to do in the game and it should be expensive as hell, since it is Legendary (the last upgrade) and there are so many ways to make in-game gold, if you put your mind to it you will accomplish it.
and when you do make a piece of end game gear Legendary with a Legendary Enchant, be proud you did because it takes a lot of time and money.
I voted yes, but I also vote no and vote other. Very complicated, but here out my reasons.
Yes- drops rates vary, some yellow mats drop more than others. It should be equal between all crafting mats, well except for perfect roe. But again I also believe certain yellow mats drop more often on different days of the week. For instance I get more wax on week days while alloys drop often on weekend.
No- I agree yellow means legendary and it should be hard to acquire. Though I feel the current yellow mats feel dated. Maybe add orange for rare, super duper rare mats like every 1000 ore u get one and it takes 16 to go orange.
Other- add AP vendor for mats not just yellow but every crafting mat in the game. The market is getting out of control, especially on console. Yellow mats r the only ones that are getting ridiculously expensive.
Farming mats only come from farmers, less farmers less mats. Less mats prices sky rocket. Farming for mats might have a big return but farming is also boring. Fishing is a drag, yellow drop rates r good and bad. AP vendor could help market down the road.

Basically if I have 800 blue mats, I'd like to take 8 or 10 to make the next tier...so on and so forth.
25x Fine > 1x Superior 20x Superior > 1x Epic 15x Epic > 1x Legendary

Only having Gold weapons seems beneficial since the stats increase for Armor from Epic to Legendary is barely an increase at all. And I care way too much about the wealth I have to waste it on something that won't give me an appropriate return.
it took you a year...... 12 months....52 weeks..... 365 (and a quarter)days to get 8 rosins????????
really?

That seems a little outrageous to me. If it's a crafted set, that's close to 1/2 million gold for 5-6 out of the 10 pieces of gear you can wear. For one build.
Things were better off when the chance of getting gold tempers from hireling mails was higher. You should be able to buy tempers for AP and Tel Var stones.
Wow what realm are you in, in PC EU you need minimum 100k per piece, so for 5 piece heavy 500k with weapons 700-900k this excluding 2 more pieces, which could be light or medium.
