    I need 32 dreugh waxes to gold out my TBS set, I get nothing of value to sell from drops and am lucky to get 1-2 waxes a week from refining/hireling.

    Tempers are not the issue, ego's are... My main is my crafter, he has had 2 gold sets, VR10 and VR16 (now CP 160), my alts may get a gold weapon, tempers permitting, but they will do with blues (under 30) and Purples (over 30) until they hit 50, when they will jump to CP whatever my main has earned...when I will make them a gold set.

    If your ego says you need a gold set after level 10, yes, it will cost you an arm and a leg, but it will have been your ego that cost you
    Of all the things I have lost, I miss my mind the most...

    Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
    Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
    Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
    Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.

    If it shows a real issue in the game even if it serves self then its still useful.

    If it wasnt a real issue then the majority would vote No.

    I also should make a new poll that says " are you sick of people who just attack your posts and never add anything useful to the conversation?"

    Writs are the best way to get gold upgrade matts. Best return for time and everything. Refining mats though is a nice extra.

    But it is a choice.

    Yes, but I have plenty of tempering alloys. Somewhere around 150. So I'm sitting in a goldmine lol. I've only made two gold swords since the game released. I would probably have more but I didn't log in on my blacksmith for a few months, so I didn't get the hireling mail. My suggestion to anyone trying to get temps is to pick up every bit of ore you see on ALL your characters. I've also heard that low level Alts can farm modes and your high level blacksmith would have a better chance to get temps. Don't know if that's true or not though.

    Back in the day when gold tempers were 6-7k and nirncrux was actually worth something, I farmed craglorn all day long for a very long time, so now I have 200+ of every gold material. Hoarding ftw baby :^) However, imo 10k is too much for 1 alloy.

    I didn't spend the time to level 6 crafters, and do 24 writs every day because it's fun. But because it provides me with the gold and supplies needed to have competitive end game gear. I've spent many hours farming mats and surveys to stockpile what I need for my characters. I have enough banked to make entire Legendary quality sets for my 4 light/medium and 2 heavy armored toons (even though I only play 3 of them regularly). Everything above that threshold gets sold, at a premium.

    If I ever decide to stop farming writs and mats, and spend all of my game time on the enjoyable content, then I will contentedly pay the high market rate for upgrade mats, because I will recognize that it's the result of my choices.
    You are right, it's not fun...why play the game then?

    80K to upgrade a single piece of gear is a lot. But it's not your opinion or mine that counts. The price is set by the market, it is what people will pay...

    And you have to remember that people will pay that much because they have decided they need legendary gear and can't be bothered to farm all the materials themselves.

    No arguing just calling Shenanigans on his numbers In fact Ran last night to get some mats from 400 ash got 4 rosin from 300 silk 2 dreuh wax and from 300 ore got 2 tempering alloy didn't farm any scraps but gathering mats and or writs yields decent amount the games to vanilla as it is no need to water it down further
