Sounds like all the platforms are going that way, you just got there faster.
Tenesi Faryon of Telvanni - Dunmer Sorceress who deliberately sought sacrifice into Cold Harbor to rescue her beloved.
Hisa Ni Caemaire - Altmer Sorceress, member of the Order Draconis and Adept of the House of Dibella.
Broken Branch Toothmaul - goblin (for my goblin characters, I use either orsimer or bosmer templates) Templar, member of the Order Draconis and persistently unskilled pickpocket
Mol gro Durga - Orsimer Socerer/Battlemage who died the first time when the Nibenay Valley chapterhouse of the Order Draconis was destroyed, then went back to Cold Harbor to rescue his second/partner who was still captive. He overestimated his resistance to the hopelessness of Oblivion, about to give up, and looked up to see the golden glow of atherius surrounding a beautiful young woman who extended her hand to him and said "I can help you". He carried Fianna Kingsley out of Cold Harbor on his shoulder. He carried Alvard Stower under one arm. He also irritated the Prophet who had intended the portal for only Mol and Lyris.
    ***
Order Draconis - well c'mon there has to be some explanation for all those dragon tattoos.
House of Dibella - If you have ever seen or read "Memoirs of a Geisha" that's just the beginning...
Nibenay Valley Chapterhouse - Where now stands only desolate ground and a dolmen there once was a thriving community supporting one of the major chapterhouses of the Order Draconis

Why not just let us use gold to buy these from an NPC vendor? This problem is there on PS4 too, just relatively to a lesser extent.

If they let us buy gold mats from an NPC vendor (even if it's only on weekends from the Golden guy in Cyrodiil), it'll at least price fix the mats.

Cause then if you try and sell em for more than the vendor price, no one would buy it from you..

Grinding isn't the issue. The issue is a very small group of players owning pretty much everything that matters. They can inflate the prices of their items by purchasing literally everything that's under what their price is, and re-sell it for an inflated price. They even have dummy guilds acquiring guild traders with basically no items to speak of for sale, just so they can keep other guilds out of "their city" so they don't undercut their ridiculous prices. But, ZoS pretty much made this happen when they allowed the PC to console account transfers, so this is because of them.

Oh, and by the way, that dummy guild I spoke of has ONE page of items for sale and every single item is being sold by the same player.

He can not sell more than 30..

True story, An Xbox starter trading guild tried to make a come back in one of the main citys with only a few players after they out-bid the biggest stall in town. Veng. Corp bought up their whole stock until the trader was dead with nothing but a 1m septum iron axe.
Whole first half the day the trader flipped you just saw the same four guys crowded around buying everything.

Sounds like they keep inflating the prices cause people are dumb enough to keep buying and paying. It's too bad the xbox community won't revolt against the over priced trade guilds and not buy anything from them until they go away. Spread the word, make it a grassroots movement. Do you really believe a handful of players have power over an entire video game community?

That's what happens when day one PC players can transfer to console with hundreds of millions in gold and items.

    That was an obvious mistake.

As for the economy.. easily fixed with AUCTION HOUSE!

    Brain hurtz...one long sentence lol.

Seriously it's gotten bad. I started in May(Xbox na) and basic motifs were 500. Now seeing them for 90k. Admittedly you can still find a deal on things occasionally but it's getting more scarce.

I haven't really made a lot of builds In a while due to all these stupid prices and I'm totally not farming more gold materials. Yesterday I used half a mill on a build that should've only cost around 350k-400k and I bought most of my stuff in area not guild traders and they still go for a lot.

Xbox Na economy is BS, and the whole "Go farm the mats yourself then!" Answer people keep giving is just bs. Traders are their for when you need something you can't get or don't have time to farm. OP Clearly doesn't need your opinions on how ya feel about the younger generation or how to grind a month worth of mats to refine and upgrade 1 damn set.

The trader are being controlled by a small group of players and is getting ridiculous. You even hear them talking in game chat that their buying all mats, you just go to them, trade and say the price. All day in Stormhaven just buying everything they can get their hands on. As soon as mondays rolls through priced get jacked even higher. The entire player base should be running the economy, not 1-2 guilds.

Is not only mats either, this weekend alone Agility Robust rings went up from 35-40k each to 120k minimum. Viper weapons are 350k minimum on sharpened and the shields on any traits can't find anything less than 500k. This kills any new player that gets to 160CP and wants to try out builds. Not everyone can farm for countless hours to get a few items they need, some people just don't got the time. Trader is their for that same reason.

Its not being controlled by a small few. Do some guild set their prices of course. But if the buying population continues to buy it an X cost then that is how supply and demand goes. If the community/people was really that bothered about the price then they simply shouldn't buy it at X cost. This is an MMO. Which typically is a huge time sink. If you don't have the time to farm be prepared to buy at whatever the market dictates.

Fixed and yes. A small group of players control the majority of the large guild traders. This allows them to set the minimum prices for many items such as tempering alloys.

Farming is a solution, but it's not always viable for people with time constraints. I chose to farm and seek out the help of some guildies last time I wanted to make some gold swords.

This game is a massive RNG grind.

Well, since you know every PC transfer ever, I guess that clears it up. Besides, all it takes is a few hundred thousand on day one when the other 99.999999% of players are sitting at zero.

I haven't seen much of this. I'm Xbox NA and just this weekend I sold 4 tempering alloys for 19k a piece. Granted I had just bought them minutes before for the whopping total of 44k for all 4 but whatever. If stuff is over priced, it won't sell. It's as simple as that. If it sells then it's not over priced.

This is free market economics. I'm in one of the big rawlka trading guilds, and the band app chat looked like this this weekend:

Some guy: did you see someone just sold a TA for 25k?

Some chick: really, no way. I'm gonna try listing 8 for 200k

    Some guy: that's crazy expensive

    Later...

Some chick: guess what! Those TAs took 3 hours to sell at 200k!

Some other guy: really? I'm gonna pull mine down and relist for 25k

So as much as you'd like to believe it's a conspiracy, it's just plain free market dynamics. As a seller, why would I list for less money if it will still sell quickly for more money? That just goes to show that the old price for TAs was deflated. And the price will continue to go up until they stop selling quickly. Once they stop moving quickly, people will start discounting them to get them to move, and we'll reach a new equilibrium price.

I don't disagree with anything you said about pricing. Frankly, if people would walk more than 4 steps away from a wayshrine, the pricing issues wouldn't exist. However, when a guild (or guilds) make a concerted effort to hold others back by blocking guild trader access, that is most definitely a problem, and quite literally a "conspiracy." That word is a little ridiculous in the context of a video game, but it is what it is.

The higher the cost, the higher the value of farming.

It takes approximately 1 hour to get one stack of ore (with competition in Wrothgar, without competition, far faster). One stack typically gives 1 gold mat.

About 2 months ago, this meant 1 hour was worth approximately 10k gold. Now 1 hour is worth at least 20k gold.

Ive just resigned myself to only getting gold mats via farming, it would take me too long to earn enough gold to buy the mats.

Soon as I get off work, I'm going to spam text chat offering to sell mats for half the price they're going for at the traders. I know I'll be losing money but idc, I have plenty of em.

I think an npc vendor would be cool in cyrodiil so you could buy with ap, gold and tel-var, but my only concern would be what zos would list them at. I mean just look at how they ended up pricing that trash set gear lol.

This is true but the price has gone from 8k to 20k to, from what I'm reading 25k, already. Who says it won't be 50k soon?

ZOS should just throw a vendor up. 10k gold or 100k AP sounds about right. Both are achievable with 1 normal day's work. Just like how farming an unrefined stack is about a normal person's single days work.

Word to the wise though, there are MANY people who are sitting on millions of AP. Offering them for AP might actually make them worthless. I say we stick with gold.

@danielpatrickkeaneub17_ESO there are people that sit on millions of gold too tho. I just broke 1M after getting a couple of fortunate drops. If they sell them, think they should be sold for AP, gold, and tel vars. it would be a way to address the saving millions of AP problem, because the upgrade mats would dry up quickly. It also provides a good gold sink to keep inflation under control.
